NFT: Trevor Bauer to face Yankees

MNP70 : 3/18/2024 9:18 pm
in a split squad game on March 24th in Mexico City. It'll be interesting to see if gets a shot somewhere this season on an MLB team.

i know youre supposed to, but i have a hard time disliking bauer.
I thought he was in an Asian league.
Matt M. : 3/18/2024 10:36 pm : link
He's facing the Dodgers before they open the season in Korea, so he signed with some Asian travel team, opr something to that effect.
Other Yankee news, DJL to miss Opening Day

with significant bone bruise from foul ball.

Lack of infield depth will be immediately exposed. Oswaldo Cabrera, who is hanging on to the roster because of lack of alternatives, probably gets the nod.

Cabrera is infield depth. They can live two weeks without DJLM. Peraza is still there, too. Kevin Smith isn't having a bad spring either.

Does anyone really want Bauer and his proclivity for beating women = paid or not?

The rumor, that I've seen hinted at, is that there is some pretty bad video out there of his exploits. Perhaps it was consensual or there was enough doubt not to prosecute him, but I don't think teams want to touch that. (Clearly, as no one is even giving him the league minimum despite him saying he's play for minimum.)

The general consensus is that MLB knows a lot more than the public as to what happened. But, it certainly doesn't help him that he pitched shitty in Japan last year.

Domingo German just got signed. Guilty of domestic violence. Bauer is literally black balled when he was proven innocent.

Domingo German was never found guilty, or even charged, with anything related to domestic violence.

No he wasn't charged except by his teammates and I think they still held it against him in some fashion, hence he was let go by the team...

He was let go when he showed up drunk and belligerent in the clubhouse. Any tension teammates may have had with him prior to that didn't stop the Yankees from making him a regular part of the rotation.

This is where I’m at. I loved Bauer before this all happened then thought he was a sick fuck for what he did. Once it came out she lied, I feel badly for him but he’s still a sick fuck for going through with it despite it being consensual. I just can’t accept that as a “kink” for a man to do to a woman.

In sum, he didn’t deserve his life being ruined. But I also can’t accept that a man can do that to a woman even with permission.
For whatever reason,

it seems that some domestic abusers get second/third chances in sports, whereas others don't, particularly when there are details and/or video that are likely to create even more of a furor. (Although this is not a hard and fast rule.)

I do not know exactly what it is the teams know that the public does not, but I've heard hints about videos. At this point, it looks like he's done with MLB teams.
I think you saw it with Ray Rice
UConn4523 : 3/19/2024 11:05 am : link
video just trumps all, so if one exists, he’s fucked even if it was consensual. And I get teams not wanting to be associated with that, it just isn’t worth bringing in that attention.

I was definitely thinking of Ray Rice. But, to be fair, that was at the tail end of his career when he looked slow. As a counter-example, Joe Mixon wasn't technically domestic violence, but horrific violence against a woman that got overlooked despite video.
Mixon is a piece of shit too
UConn4523 : 3/19/2024 11:14 am : link
being a “kid” probably helped him. Also sold being provoked and assaulted first IIRC. But I think it’s easier to get away with it in football. Baseball is supposed to be “family friendly”.

Say it any way you'd like. Point is he either smacked or shoved his gf/wife, probably drunk with anger issues, and it did not sit well with his teammates. He had talent so was given a 2nd chance. Yes the 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) incident occurred. He was let go.
It can be said in different ways - but he obviously has anger issues. Seems like Bauer does also. Why even go down that road.
German

slapped his girlfriend/significant other at a dinner/charity-type event and an MLB employee witnessed it. (I'm 99% on that.)

I think the Pirates signed him.
I'd 100% bring in Bauer...
BC Eagles94 : 3/19/2024 4:28 pm : link
Weren't all the charges eventually dropped and there was evidence the woman was looking to extort him? Why is he completely blackballed? Because the woke mob on social media may complain, who aren't even Yankees fans?

.

On top of that was drunk on his ass in the clubhouse last year, that was it for him wearing Pinstripes. He went to get help for that, and amazingly, his significant other is still with him after the domestic issue? As for Bauer, he is desperate as hell to get back to the major leagues, the Yanks won't touch him with a ten foot pole, you can book that!

Did you read anything I wrote? There's apparently awful video/details that the teams know that the public doesn't.

Haven't said yet he will miss opening day, still wait and see on DJ. Another contract becoming an albatross, he is like a broken down war horse these days.

First with the Mariners decision and then, obviously, with the steroids. One of the best swings I've seen. (I'm sure he'll cry himself to sleep with his hundreds/tens of millions of dollars.)
