If we get any kind of decent QB play I do not see us being horrible. If the O Line takes a step forward we will be a .500 team. If we get a QB and there is growth it will be a great season as a fan.
I don’t want to be in the business of rooting for DJ this season please

1. attacking the LOS on defense, mostly on DL/EDGE (6th most in NFL)
2. protecting the passer (10th most in NFL)
between OL, front 7, QB, that is almost 75% of the projected active roster cap by AAV.

And, people are predicting gloom and doom?
If these improvements hold true the only thing that will keep them from having a good season is injuries.
Otherwise, it's questionable IMO.
Really? This Defense is starting to look good. If we can get a legit DT in the 2nd round, sign a vet CB2, and bring in another Safety this Defense can be something.
its ironic given the thread but something Eric (from BBI) said last year has echo'd in my head the last week or so as FA has unfolded. Something about how DAL/PHI were still in a different weight class as NYG.
this FA period feels very much like they said "whatever else happens we are going to start punching back" even if it's at the expense of some skill players. They want to be the team doing the harassing of QBs, not getting harassed.
I agree with you, hard to argue against that.
I am curious as to why? I think the biggest question is what it has been for years. Have they fixed the OL? If so, we can be decent to very good (based on QB play). If not, another lost year.
Do you see something different? Or do you think the OL will not get better? Or is the QB thing overwhelming?
Still concerned with the o line. Seems like we might get to be an average line but nothing more unless they go o line pick 6 and 47.
Seriously? More pessimistic than 2 weeks ago? If you feel that way, the draft isn’t going to help you.

We have a LT and a C who you are not replacing. You suggest picking up a RT and G with two top 50 picks, or two guards?
You can help the Oline a lot by having a QB that 1) can challenge a defense vertically, and b) doesn’t stare down a receiver until he achieves 6 feet of social distance.
Football is complementary. With out current QB most lines will look like crap.

I know we still got the draft so things can change, but I am pessimistic about this team’s chances this fall. I fear we’re going to be real bad.

One thing I worry about is with Barkley being gone those 8 man boxes that SHOULD have made things much easier for the QB will be a thing of the past.
Daniel Jones is mediocre at best and an injury away from never playing football again. That leaves Lock who will try to keep us in games with a conservative offense and keeping turnovers at a minimum. If this happens in next year's draft we might be drafting in the top five.
OL should be better
RB - same or worse
WR - same below average group
TE - underwhelming
QB - unknown
The Burns trade is a bit of a puzzle to me. He is a very good player but we gave up picks and a high salary. Pass rusher was definitely a need but seems like an overpay on a bad team. Reminds me of the Lenard Williams trade. Great players but giving up picks and top money doesn’t make sense for a cap strapped team with a lot of holes. We also lost Robinson/Williams and they haven’t been replaced.
We lost a very good Safety and a good CB. Maybe Belton is the guy but it does sound like the Giants wanted McKinney back, just not at the money he got. At CB even if you didn’t like Jackson, who is replacing him? CB to me is a very important spot.
10 days in and it’s hard to see an identity on O. The D improved the pass rush but also downgraded the defensive backfield.
Are we going to fill in key spots with aging vets on 1 year fliers? Unless Schoen starts to use some cap creativity, which he hasn’t done) it’s possible this team is worse now than where we were last year at this time. Let’s hope our new OL coach can finally get guy to play better rather than worse.
I am not high on how the roster is being built.
Coach Bricillo could be our MVP(erson) this yr.
If he gets our OL to stop sucking, he might deserve a statue outside the stadium.
