Joe Schoen also spoke to reporters. Predictably, he was very tight-lipped on QB/draft plans. A few notes on the current roster:
• Schoen said Daniel Jones is running on land (progress from running on an anti-gravity treadmill) and throwing. Schoen expects Jones to be ready for the start of training camp.
• Still no word from Darren Waller on if he's retiring. Schoen wouldn't say if there's a deadline for a decision. Waller told me three weeks ago that he'd be making his decision "pretty soon."
• Schoen said Evan Neal will remain at right tackle and there's no plan for him to shift to guard. So looks like Jermaine Eluemunor will open the spring at guard.
So, I am not surprised. Firing their last coach was huge deal.
The fact he’s running helps his conditioning but doesn’t tell us much about his recovery.
When did the Giants shift William Roberts to guard?

curious, does anyone remember a team changing a high 1st round draft pick's position after just two seasons in recent memory? Isaiah Simmons is the only one I can think of.

PFR indicates 1989 where he's listed as left guard as opposed to LT the year prior.
When did the Giants shift William Roberts to guard?
According to Wikipedia, it was his sixth year in the league. (Drafted in 84 and switched in 89)

No one should believe anything being said right now.
Neal will only remain at RT if he legit beats out Eluminor in camp.
Obviously, that would be the best outcome, but they're not going to just hand RT to Neal if Eluminor's a clearly better option.
He did play guard at Alabama, so it's not totally out there.
Probably not 2 years, and also eons ago…
Good call on Antrell Rolle as he was moved to free safety from cornerback in 2008 after being drafted in 2005. So he lasted three years in his original position before being changed. It also appears that he lost his starting position mid-way through his third season as well.

But at what point do they decide on a "winner" for the position. If they decide Eleuminor is the better RT, they need to then have time to assess Neal at one of the guard spots. With the shortened training camp and fewer preseason games, there's not much time . I don't want to see a repeat of last season when guys were put in positions they hadn't even practiced, ie Ezeudu at LT.
Hoping the new coach can get him to play at potential at RT. But they shouldn't sit by and watch him sabotage drives anymore.

Not sure this is true. If Neal and Eluminor are both in our top 5 OLs they both could start even if Eluminor is a better RT. Why? Because he's also our best RG and if you move him to RT then who do you play at RG. Our 6th or 7th best OL. Neal likely won't be ready to play RG.
The power of positive thinking...I agree with ya
I don't see Neal as being athletic enough to play tackle in the pros.
If lucky, we don't have to see Neal at all.
I can only count 4 ahead of Neal.
It’s fine if Neal gets a shot to start, but I would expect him on a short leash.
Also with so many young OL yet to develop, I would rather they invest in DL, DB,QB and WR as draft priorities.
One that come to mind is when Washington drafted Brandon Scherff to be their RT but moved him to guard pretty early on in his rookie year.

'86 or so...
Yep same here and people need to remember he’s only played 20 games thus far. Each of his two seasons torpedoed by injury. At the very least Neal needs to play 10 straight games in 2024. 10 straight to open the season. If he still sucks after those then we talk about his career projecting. The guy needs reps. It’s not an excuse he’s been bad but they don’t say practice makes perfect for nothing. It matters.

I will be so happy if Neal can turn turn into Roberts at RG cause he scares the hell out of me as a T
