When MetLife purchased the naming rights to the stadium, the Jets and Giants had a big football day in Bryant Park in honor of the occasion which is right near MetLife's offices. Both teams were there along with former greats. I had the opportunity to chat with Toomer for a minute or so and I asked him about this game and this play specifically. He said the way that game felt on the field was as if you were playing on a parking lot because the ground was so frozen and hard. He said this catch specifically felt like sliding across asphalt. Amani is one of my favorite NYG players ever. He was a toe tap master and this game and that playoff run proved his toughness. Link - ( New Window )
But this was one of my faves. For those that say wins on a bad team are meaningless, I think this win started to turn things around for the Giants Giants Beat the undefeated Broncos - ( New Window )
I have to think about this. He had so many. There was a toe tap catch in the first Super Bowl against the Pats. He was money. I would guess his run and catch for a TD in the divisional playoff game in Dallas is my fave though.
I have two.
the first, as I recall, Armani made a 4th down catch on the worlds most famous drive to keep us alive.
2nd is his first touch as a Ny giant was taking his first kick off (maybe putt it was 95 for petes sake) for a TD.
he has always been one of my favorite, didn't hurt he came from the high school my kids would of attended had I stayed in California. Ask me someday about my interaction with the two pop warner refs I had day of his first game.
coming off years of abysmal offensive football I really felt like we finally had a big time, clutch WR, and made a great duo with Hilliard. That was confirmed when he broke out in 99 and lots of huge catches ensued. But that was the first big one and I'll always remember it.

And those were all three terrific throws, placed where Toomer - and Toomer alone - could make the catch.
that game convinced me Eli was capable of winning a Super Bowl one day.
The Green Bay and Dallas games as mentioned. Also fond memories of his 2002 season like the flea flicker against the Colts. One of my all-time favorite Giants.
I recall there being a season where the only WR that Champ Bailey had given up a touchdown during the season was Amani Toomer.
Also a fun fact on Toomer - I think it was his rookie year in 1996 that he returned a few punts for touchdowns. Was among the league leaders in return average too.
First punt return for a TD, TD catch to open the Dallas playoff game, catch to beat the undefeated Denver are the top ones. But, he had a ton of very memorable plays.
I loved how, right up to the end of his career we constantly heard about how he wasn't fast or elusive, yet he always seemed to get behind defenders and was being chased from behind very often (and seldom caught).
- GW TD against Denver in 2005 as well.
I kid - gotta be his long TD in the playoffs against Dallas where he caught a quick hitch and beat 3 Cowboys to the end zone

Also the flea flicker from Kerry against the Colts. Not an exceptional catch, but their offense was humming then.
Finally the TD against Dallas in the 07 Divisional. Turned on the burners at the right time.

That's the first one that came to mind. Set the tone for the day.

In Dallas 2007 playoffs
Yep. That one.

Or something.
It was great.
I've heard Papa's call of the Dallas TD so often that I'd forgotten Joe Buck's (easy to forget).
AT had a hell of a game in Tampa to get things rolling.

Yup, great call. It was one of those hot September Sundays and they went deep into the overtime period.

This play times 1000.

Hilarious.
And the flee flicker in the ‘02 colts game was AWESOME.

but loved how he left it all out on the field against Philly in the comeback game. I remember he had to be carried off at the end.
