Dak and be willing to pick up a significant portion of his salary. He's a solid NFL QB, but it looks like he's constantly pounding his head against his ceiling.
Use this year to see what they have in Trey Lance. If they re-sign Lamb, Lance will have a WR1 as his disposal, a good TE in Ferguson), and another capable WR in Cooks. If anyone can fill in the rest of the needs, it's McClay.
On First things First they mention that Dallas could let Prescott test free agency and then resign him for less than the 60 million dollar a year extension that is being talked about.
They pointed out Cousins this year getting 45 million and Lamar not getting any offers the previous year.
They were mentioning that the teams that would be in the QB market would be very limited, like 6 teams.
They also mentioned that Prescott would lose the Dallas brand and his marketing options would also diminish.
Lastly, there is the no state income tax. Prescott could stand to lose tens of millions of dollars if he were to leave Dallas.

I don't have the tax free states memorized but off the top of my head the Dolphins, Bucs, Raiders Seahawks and Titans, if Levis regresses, could all of some interest and also extend the income tax benefit

Dolphins have Tua and TB just signed Baker. Seahawks will probably be in the market, but California has state income tax.
Best bets are LV and Tennessee. In 2025 Tennessee has 74 million in cap space and LV 54 million, Dallas has 100 million.
and great WRs and TEs. One of the worst QBs in a 2 minute drill wasting time getting the play called and the team lined up to get the next play off. Put him with our team and would be worst QB ever.
Dak has the upper hand in negotiating next contact
It’s a business and he will not forget getting tagged 2 years in a row by Jerrah.
Cowboys will have to pay close to $55 to $60 million per year on the next contract
Going rate for a top 10 QB.
I think they would still do that + Dak if Dak was a big time QB. To me this makes sense for Dallas which is a bit unfortunate for Giants fans. However, here’s to hoping they mess up with his replacement whenever that day comes.

I don’t think it would be tens of millions. It depends on his signing bonus (and other payments) vs his non home games where the tax would be applied. Take Missouri, they are under 5% income tax. If he played half his games there and made $60m a season the tax on that would be $1.3m give or take. I dont think its as big a factor is some make it seem and it’s a complete unknown as to which players would even care vs being on a team that they felt gave them a better opportunity to win/live/etc.

being an UDFA and a 4th rounder. they were able to use their high picks in other areas.
Dont forget they have Trey Lance as well. Maybe they can teach him another year and then plug him in again on the cheap.
It hasnt gotten them much in the playoffs but I think their QBs are very much a result of the talent around them rather than being super talented. Once the big games come up the warts start to show.
I do hope they stick with Dak, he's just good enough to make it painful for Dallas when they lose in the playoffs.

tell us you know nothing about the salary cap without telling us you know nothing about the cap.

If Dallas were to go with Lance this year and make Prescott a June 1st cut it would add 29 million in cap space for Dallas. Along with the monies from Gallup it would give Dallas an additional 39 million in cap space after June 1st. This could give Dallas options on signing Lamb and Parsons after June 1st.
Should Lance fail in 2024 he would be set free and Dallas would be set cap wise in 2025 to acquire another QB.

Yep--they will draft a QB this April.

Last I checked Seattle was in Washington?

By Dallas. I think Penix fits them very well.
Yep--they will draft a QB this April.
For what it's worth, Dallas hasn't drafted a QB in the first round since 1989.

Dallas has options.
Their window to the Super Bowl is now and Dak gives them their best chance
