We can clinch a Playoff spot with 2 points tonight or Capitals beat the Red Wings.
And today on "As the Defensemen Turn," Gus may be out tonight, so that would mean Brandon Scanlin would be in. The pairings could potentially look something like:
Zac Jones -- Adam Fox
K'Andre Miller -- Braden Schneider
Brandon Scanlin -- Chad Ruhwedel
In other news, Trouba and Lindgren are skating.
Sam Ersson is in goal for the Flyers.
LGR
But the beats are now posting it will be Igor tonight.

Was not intentional. Unfortunate
Probably right. Still looked awful.
And still should have been a penalty.
Get the forecheck going in Flyers zone
4-3 Blueshirts
It’s a miracle that it’s tied.
Well probably fun to watch.
They play like that in Colorado they’re gonna get run out of the building.
That’s what winning clubs do
Well probably fun to watch.
Igor wasn’t great tonight, but he had the guys in front of him tripping over themselves all night.
We played awful. Not sure how we came away with 2 points, but we did and we’re in the playoffs!
Well probably fun to watch.
Wasn’t Igor’s fault. Team defense was hideously bad most of the night, some unlucky bounces too
UGLY
I’ll take it.
And IDK if Wennberg will be taking the trip out west, but if he is, Vesey needs to be benched for a game or two. He was fucking awful tonight.
I just see these games as glorified practices. These are my favorite games to go to at the end of the season because tickets are cheaper. Meaning, they don't matter. The playoffs are on the horizon.
One lesson of this season is clear: coaching matters.
LFG.
3 starting defensemen out of the lineup, Wennberg out, Igor a bad night, and the rest of the team didn't play their A game. Yet they competed their asses off, came back from a 2 goal deficit, and kept punching in that circus of a third period.
2 points on what feels like a rare night where Carolina lost is big.
My coffee tastes just fine.
One area he needs to sharpen up on going to the playoffs.
I’m not bitching just an observation.
He is so much better than before all star break.
Fox is on a different level lately, this is the best he has ever played and hopefully it carries into the playoffs. Same goes for Panarin. Igor has cooled off a little since his insane stretch, but if he's going to have a bit of a lull, let's have that now.
My buddy made a similar comment and I gotta say I don’t understand the sentiment at all
If you find a way to win despite mistakes/not having your A game that tells me they are able to overcome adversity and I fail to see how that is anything but a positive heading into the playoffs

that we win games when we're outplayed. Probably good, although I hope we don't need to do it that much in the playoffs. Kind of walking a tight rope.

Sure, but you also have to take into account that a better team like the Panthers or Bruins or even the Hurricanes won't allow you to hang around.

Maybe to a certain extent, but most would say the Hurricanes played "better" than the Rangers for most of the series 2 years ago. Panthers were up 2-0 last week, they had no choice in whether the Rangers were going to hang around or not, because the Rangers decided to take the game over. Obviously, if I had my choice, the Rangers would play their best game every night, but that is not how sports operate. So yes, if the team is going to have an off night, I take comfort in knowing that there is still a good chance they can win the game.
Yeah, they're very well-coached. They're overachieving in large part due to Torts.

Same, but you're flirting with disaster more times than not if you fall behind. Plus, I know we made a big deal over the years about coming back from 3-1 in the Playoffs, but it's flying too close to the Sun.

It's great to be able to come back from 3-1 in a series, but the Rangers are not going to contend for a Cup if they play all 7 game series. This team needs to get a sweep or 5 game series in round 1 whether they're up against Washington, Detroit, Islanders, or the Devils. I'm still hoping they can hang onto that top seed in the East to avoid Tampa, not because I don't think they can beat Tampa, but because I think that is more likely to be a long series.
I'll go your way 'Nak and then some. In the same breath you could also say we were up 3-1 in ECF and the the stardust went poof, not to mention last year's 2-0 up.
In similar way Rangers tend to start games slowly and sleepwalk through too many 1st periods and have to claw back. Well and good, to your point that's a fool's game come SCP.
I still question the leadership in the room: not Lavvy--he's trying to shake up the complacent culture and it's having some effect. You've got 'new' faces Trocheck, Laf, Cuylle injecting some hell for leather play where at the top (line) none exists, though Zib looks to be shaking off some torpor last couple of games.
Kakko is quiet, self-effacing, but he works his ass off: his tough defensive play in the corner stripping the d-man of the puck and the nifty back pass to Brodz for the tying goal--how big was that to set the tone for the 3rd? Game is slowing down for him and Laf, nice to see.
4th line notched, what, a couple of shifts in the 3rd, if that.
Unless and until the team get more consistent backchecking from its forwards across all lines, they are going to struggle as they did last night against teams that skate hard on the rush, because our d-pairs, on balance, are not fleet afoot and recognition is still slow.
Rick, Igor's glove, yeah, a bit inconsistent, but Tippett down the right (glove side) and Konecny are dead eye snipers. I think Igor was really ticked when Hathaway bumped him by (cough cough) accident. I was torn between wanting Miller or Schneider or someone (think it may have been 3rd line on?) to pummel his ass but a penalty there could have been a dagger.
Especially Lindgren who is one tough dude. That injury looked awful when it happened.
I want both of them to be as close to 100% as possible for playoffs. We need their physicality for sure .
Plus Lindgren adds some protection to Fox when they are paired together.
BTW, Fox is absolutely awesome.
But if you can't just enjoy winning an 11 goal thriller against a hated rival, as sloppy as it was, or recent wins over Carolina, Florida, and Boston then what even is the point of following a regular season? One of the two or three most enjoyable regular seasons I've had following this team for close to 30 years. Enjoy the journey.

Hell yeah Kyle!!! I have been saying all year that I think this is the most heavily scrutinized number 1 team in the league I have ever seen in any sport! I am guilty of that in some instances. This team is awesome, and flaws aside (all teams have them), they are one of maybe 6 teams that can win the Cup this year, and I really think they are going to do it. The way I see it, if the Rangers play their best, they are better than anyone else at their best. There is not another team in the league that has a Vezina, Norris, and Hart potential player on their team (maybe Boston with Swayman, McAvoy, Pastrnak). The Rangers are talented, physical and deep. They are good enough at 5 on 5, and are top 5 in both PP and PK. There is no team that is going to see the Rangers as a favorable draw in the playoffs. Sometimes after 30 years of not winning, it's hard to just enjoy the ride because we're just waiting for the inevitable downfall, but this is what it's all about. You want to have a team to follow that can compete for a championship, and I think this is the year!
Demko got hurt and Miller tailed off scoring, but they have 3 contenders.
Otherwise I agree not many teams do and I'm not sure if a team has ever swept all three awards.
But, I don't think Fox can make up the ground in Norris with less than a dozen games left and I don't think Igor can overcome his "down" stretch either so it's a moot point but those two should be contenders every year.
physical game during the playoffs.
He is a very good player. And a very smart player. But if he could just up his game in the playoffs, he would be a great player. If i were in the locker room, i would do anything i could to just say to him "Chris this may be your best chance at a Cup but i need you to lay it all out every single night of the playoffs".
I’m constantly yelling during the games for him to get physical and play with more intensity.

Panarin could score 7 goals in a game and the 8th be an empty netter and Anakin would still not be satisfied with the performance somehow lol
He's becoming a star before our eyes. This team is tough. For the first time in a decade or so, I believe they're built well enough to win in the playoffs...deep in the playoffs. All required elements are in place.
