@RapSheet
Immediately following his Pro Day, #LSU QB and potential Top 3 pick Jayden Daniels is scheduled to meet with the #Patriots, #Commanders, #Giants, #Vikings, #Broncos and #Raiders, per his agent Ron Butler. Daniels has not previously met with any teams.

There are viable scenarios where he falls within reach.

What if New England takes Harrison?

They can afford it, its a matter of, if they want to pay for it.
I don't think he gets past Washington.

I would be surprised.

depends on what the Commanders do. They could draft Maye. They could draft Daniels. Some think they might even draft McCarthy.

Then do the Giants trade up to #3?

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 3/27/2024 1:21 pm : link
I’d be over the moon if we got him, but I’m not expecting it.
it's
Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/27/2024 1:22 pm : link
interesting listening to and reading from the different pundits. Some don't like Maye as much and think Daniels is better. But others don't like Daniels as much and think Maye is better. Then there is the McCarthy X factor.

The draft may or may not go down as predicted in the first five picks.
I'm not expecting it
UberAlias : 3/27/2024 1:25 pm : link
But the draft almost never goes how everyone thinks, and QBs going 1-2-3-4 has never happened. There is a distinct chance SOMEONE falls.

What gets floated around in the media and on twitter is far more speculative and reading between the lines than people think. The sources, when there even are any, are agents, positional coaches, scouts, and teams execs speculating about other teams. None of these groups have actually seen the draft board, so even when there is actual cause for educated speculation (a scout likes a player but doesn't know where the team actually placed him on the draft board for example), it is still speculation and 2nd or 3rd hand. And most of what's out there doesn't come close to that level of actual intel --it's just made up.

Point is --don't over estimate what you think you know.
He's been my hope for the NYG since October.
BleedBlue46 : 3/27/2024 1:26 pm : link
I see very little chance he makes it past Washington and if he does I think the Patriots would take him instantaneously. He's the #1 pick in most drafts. I would trade whatever it took to get him, but it's really beyond unlikely to have the chance.

If Daniels is there that is the huge offer I make with a big over pay. However, even if he gets by Washington I don't think NE passes on Daniels even for a big over a pay.
Doubt he gets by Washington

But no harm taking a meeting.

Just my gut --but my hunch is Daneils goes to Washington at 2, NYG deals with NE to move to 3 for Maye. That may be more hope than possibility, but it's my guess, regardless.
Uber- I see it the same way
Dave on the UWS : 3/27/2024 1:35 pm : link
I wasn't high on Daniels, but if he is a legit 210, sign me up!! I think his pro day today will cinch he goes to Washington.
This might go differently, if Schoen has decided McCarthy is his guy. Any way you slice it, if they want one of these guys, they can be successful.

BUT, look at Nabors measurables today, combined with his tape.
Then there's MHJ who's been called "generational".
Odunze ran sub 4.4 at the combine, has great work ethics, and is a FULL size WR.

What the hell do you do??? #6 ain't a bad place to be in this draft!

I'd rather the Vikings trade up for Maye and we get JJM for pick 6 and a future 2nd+3rd with moving up twice. AZ gets their target, LAC gets their target, and we get JJM while saving our pick 47. The trade to 3 would cost pick 6, 47 a future 1st and maybe 3rd too. As long as they get a QB they have conviction in I'm happy ultimately.

Odunze ran 4.45.

Me too. Me personally, I would not trade up for JJM. I'd prefer any of JJM/MHJ/or Nabers at 6 over trading up for JJM. But if they're high enough on him to move picks to get him, then go for it. They know the prospects better than I.

If there are football gods, Washington takes McCarthy.

That would be a huge win for the rest of the NFCE.

Dream draft Washington takes McCarthy and then Minny trades a huge haul to NE for Drake Maye. Giants trade up to Cards for 6, 70, and 2nd next year take Daniels!

move up or take Daniels at pick 6.

I agree that we may seem some curveballs with how the QB's are drafted.

I'm not as bearish on JJM as you, but I agree.

Williams and Daniels are the special talents, for different reasons.

Williams has a special arm and off script ability. Daniels has exceptional pocket presence and pocket footwork plus he can run like a gazelle.

If Daniels was there at 6, the Giants would sprint to the podium to put their pick in.

I'm a big JJM proponent and even I feel like that was a joke GMs were playing on the media lol

LoS is very anti-Daniels.

He wasn't impressed by the fact that Daniels destroyed all the good teams in the SEC except Georgia. And that's because LSU didn't play them.
Got it Bw

Down against Bama before he got hurt. Total destruction!

Against FSU, they were blown off the field. Nice 75 TD pass with a minute to go though to pad the stats.

Last two SECW QB's who had two future 1st round WR's playing with them were in the CFP championship game.

Poorest SECW defenses in years.

If the Giants would be fortunate enough to draft Daniels
Fishmanjim57 : 3/27/2024 3:30 pm : link
Jones would probably never take another snap for the Giants.
You don't draft a supremely talented player like Jayden Daniels, then put him on the shelf.

Yes, I think he's the most ready to go of all QBs. I keep reminding myself how we were closer to 9-8 than 3-14 but JD is the one that makes me keep having to remind myself of that. I think he's a smarter, more grounded, better arm version of L Jax. I hope DC trades up to 1 for CW or surprises everyone and takes Maye or JJM, I do not want to have to face JD 2x per year for the foreseeable future.

christian : 3/27/2024 3:36 pm : link
I think a very strong case can be made Daniels is the best pocket passer among the top 4 QBs.
Mayo

I'm going to assume you realize Daniels doesn't play on both sides of the ball. And that LSU was 82nd in the country in points allowed per game.

And if you want me to re-post Daniels's stats against his schedule I can. A schedule that was considered a top 15 for strength of schedule.
What I don’t understand
Pepe LePugh : 3/27/2024 4:34 pm : link
in all these posts, is what makes anyone optimistic that we can trade up into top three? Bears, Commies and Pats all already have more draft assets than we do. All have more cap space. Their “starting” QBs at present would be Tyson Bagent, Marcus Mariota, and Jacoby Brissett.
The reasons people say that we need to trade up are the same reasons those teams are not trading down.
Now if the brass is convinced that QB4 has the goods, we’re probably competitive with Vikes (or whom ever) to move up. That’s realistic. And draft boards differ, so maybe the Giants value that 4th QB higher than his draft position.
But do people really think we have a shot to move up higher than 4th overall?

Very unsure if he even excels there. Daniels to NYG would be great for him assuming his arm carries enough in Metlife. To DC, their line is a mess and his HC is ehhh. Don't find Kingsbury a great playcaller either. Vikings would be his best spot. Closed stadium, top WR duo and a very good playcaller in O'Connell.
