Giants owner frustrated by ‘ridiculous’ O-line struggles

GFAN52 : 3/27/2024 5:21 pm
"It’s ridiculous, and it’s a continuing source of frustration for me,” Mara said of the line’s struggles. “It’s time to get it fixed. We’ve invested in a couple of No. 1 draft picks on offensive tackles. We have a (second-round) draft pick playing at center. And now we have spent some money in free agency. We have a new offensive line coach. I expect us to be a hell of a lot better this year."

RT is going to be interesting out of the gate

Eluemunor is a solid RT, if Neal doesn't come out strong I don't see them wasting time. Obviously it's for the best if he nails it down, but I don't think he's going to get a very long leash.
Wasn't this two days ago?

Yea this was a few days ago. I have hope this year, but we'll see. I'm glad we have a backup plan in case Neal struggles again. This is the best FART we've had in years

Two days ago and every offseason for a decade. I mean, that quote about the draft picks and FA money...you could plug that quote into any year since 2012.

A reflection of ownership is who you hire to run your business.

Let's hope it improves this year.

Solid assessment of the situation with one caveat at RT I think we have seen enough of Evan Neal to understand this guy is hopeless the time to move on has come and gone.
It ain’t just JM….

A lot of fans hate a 31st ranked offense, and their 32nd ranked dysfunctional O line….which contributed to all the qb injuries.
Me too.

If he says it, then it must be true ("I expect us to be a hell of a lot better this year").
He’s right

It’s a joke. Three different GM’s and nothing has changed. Hopefully the new coach along with Runyan and Eleumunor will get us to at least an average line.
Evan Neal and Joshua Ezeudu

continuing to Giants long tradition of high OL picks that spend more time on stationary bike than the field and are never heard from again.

But don't worry - they are both millionaires .

As ridiculous as the front office struggles.

Hmmm, I wonder if there is a connection?
I will never believe that we have improved our OL..

until we see it happen consistently during the regular season. Every year we have this renewed optimism based upon the additions in the off season. Every year we are disappointed with the results.

I had a bad feeling about 2021, which intensified when the Giants didn't draft anybody and all the backups retired.

The OL issues has now stretched from Reese to DG to Joe. It is so odd. I don't know what the fuck the problem is, but it needs to be solved.
Mara should insist the line must be fixed this year
kelly : 3/27/2024 9:12 pm : link
No more excuses. If the line does not show significant improvement than Schoen should be shown the door. Basically his job should depend on fixing the line.

I mean a receiver is a luxury if your line is no good. Schoen better be careful that the line is fixed. I still feel the line is subpar even with who we brought in. It will be improved but I don't see a top ten line.

At this point you look for any common denominators like scouting, or anybody in the front office who has spanned all 3 regimes. Hmm ....

We’ve gone through OL coaches like tissue paper too.

It’s mind numbing…yes, there are OL problems and a talent shortage all over the league, but many teams get by with middling talent that becomes a serviceable OL

I do think all the new limits on offseason/preseason practice time and hitting is a factor…but that doesn’t explain why the Giants have consistently sucked worse than most other teams for a decade
Well better late than

never. Welcome to the great destruction of the Giants LOS that has mostly been in place for over a decade.

Pretty amazing considering when George Young took over he made having strong fronts the foundation of Giants football.

When this issue started really showing a decade ago the solution was to start firing coaches and promote front office members...brilliant.

I don't expect to be playing in the NFCCG until those fronts are restored to past Giants standards. Regardless of QB.
