NFT: Good morning, Knicks fans!

Neckbone1333 : 3/28/2024 9:44 am
Did what we were supposed to and what good teams do last night. Great to have Mitch back and really fun watching the growth of McBride. Precious with a sick dunk too! Really love this team!

With loses by by Cleveland and the Magic, it was a beautiful night of basketball.

Now let the Pelicans beat the Bucks tonight.

Mitch looked good last night

considering all the time he missed and it being his first game.

I liked the Burks a d BB trade but after seeing them this year, I don't like it. They provide depth and BB's shot looked better last night but they are not anything other than depth to me. McBride was the unforeseen consequence of the trade that has been such a homerun. He was the move this team needed to make but, luckily, he was already on the roster.

felt like kicking a homeless person. I don't think the Knicks even broke a sweat. Raptors have checked out. Good teams do what Knicks are doing. Keep it up.

Mitch looked like a more aggressive offensive player. Putting the ball on the floor. Like it.
McBride
djm : 3/28/2024 10:36 am : link
is my favorite story or development of the season. We have a defensive stud at the 2 who can drain 3s all night long.
You can see how good this team can be
nygiants16 : 3/28/2024 10:41 am : link
when the floor is spaced and then defensively with zmitch or Hartenstein on the court the other 4 can switch on everything defensively..

Og, Hart and DDV are so good at filling the lane to help on the roller then getting out to shooters, that it frees up the centers to blitz the ball handler and just makes their defense suffocating

What an offensive performance for a defensive minded team

That is still missing two of their best players.

Getting past Boston will sure be tough, but they have the horses to at least make us feel like we have a chance.

I think right now we can beat anyone in the east but Boston. With OG and Randle we can definitely beat them.

The Knicks' offensive rebounding is the best in the league by a pretty clear margin, thanks to guys like Josh Hart. But now you're going to be adding the guy who led the league in ORB per game last year and would be leading this year if he qualified to the rotation.

Really can't wait to see this team at full strength.

deserves COY recognition this year, what a fantastic job. It's weird how the minutes police, people calling him way too old school and the rest of his critics have gone away.

He has completely changed the culture of a losing organization which as we know is not easy. He's not alone in doing it, but he's been a major factor.

I really hope OG and Randle can get some regular season minutes under the belt before the playoffs. It should be a fun spring.

Assuming OG and Randle can come back, their injuries could be a blessing in disguise. Look at the growth of guys like DD, Duece and Precious in their absence. This is an excellent roster with good coaching and a positive culture.
Please let Randle and OG be truly 100%
Matt M. : 3/28/2024 12:15 pm : link
If they are healthy, this team is dangerous in the playoffs. Robinson back makes a big difference. They now can have a rim defender on the floor any time they want, as well as only adding to the Knicks already strong rebounding totals, especially on the offensive glass. I like him off the bench and Hartenstein starting, even when both are 100%.

Agree with those on McBride. He has really come a long way this year. When he slides back to the bench, the 2nd unit is even stronger.

To me, perhaps the biggest factor is Hart. Last year, he was a nice player whose hustle outweighed his overall output. This year, with the increased time, he has been a major contributor at both ends. When all are healthy, they have a few guys who are capable of popping off a triple double any night, and he is one.

And DiVincenzo? What a boost over Fournier and anyone else they had starting at the 2/3 last year. He has really come on the last couple of weeks too.

Say what you want about Thibs, but this current team really seems to buy into his style. They play hard at both ends.

over Grimes has been a major upgrade. There really isn't any defensive drop off and the offense upgrade is significant. He moves without the ball, actually shoots the ball, can help with ball handling and playmaking. And also actually scoring helps as well...

Divo and Hartenstein being bumped up to the starters has helped tremendously.

His D has been a nice surprise also. He really tries to close out on the perimeter and is tougher aroudnd the rim than I expected.

Grimes, RJ, IQ and Toppin all struggled against Miami in the playoffs - that was a winnable series if those guys showed up the way they did in the regular season. I think that planted the seeds for the three trades that shipped them all out (and IQ's contract stalemate). I'm glad the front office has shown that kind of initiative.
Because I was curious, here you go.
Beezer : 3/28/2024 2:01 pm : link
Knicks tenures, in order of contract signing.

Weird ... Brunson/Hartenstein, same day, make them tied for third-longest tenured Knicks. That's wild to me.

Six players who could be in the playoff rotation (took liberties with Burkes) have been aboard for about a year and in some cases a lot less).

Points up just how hard the front office went to put together this crew that we're all so excited about.

Bojan has looked a lot better the last couple of games.

And Mitch just looked huge and in shape, as several reporters commented. As good as Hartenstein has been, being able to mix up with the True Giant is a big deal. The best center pair in the league? Perhaps.

was cool to hear. They're talking about bonding trips before next year's training camp and Hart's like "Zah can chip in, he'll have his bag." and Brunson says "That's true!" and iHart says "Little duffy."

I like the idea that they think iHart is going to get paid and stay with the Knicks.

Bojan struggling the way he was just didn't compute. He's been amongst the best shooters in the league throughout his career. He was due for some positive regression. Glad it appears to be here

Assuming OG and Randle can come back, our starters are IHart, Randle, OG, DDV and Brunson, and our four off the bench (assuming Thibs plays 9, but he usually does) are Mitch, Precious, Hart and Deuce. That's a pretty strong 9. Especially if OG and Randle are close to 100%, I feel like that team can compete with anyone.

Ten Ton Hammer : 3/28/2024 4:58 pm : link
When he's on, he's 15-20 points off the bench and a defense-buster. Defenses have to mark him and that spaces the floor for all. Closest thing to Steve Novak you can get, but has more scoring ability than just 3s.

best version of this team
jmalls23 : 3/28/2024 6:14 pm : link
Brunson pick and roll with Hartenstein/Mitch
Donte/OG/Bojan bang 3s from the corner. don't need a dribble
Hart does all the dirty work
ball constantly moving. maybe the best D in the NBA.
no Randle! stands at the key wanting the ball. never cuts and plays ISO

they can compete for it all

Randle was playing a lot better team ball this season before he got hurt. With Brunson plus several other guys capable of hitting open shots, he's let go of trying to do all the scoring a lot more

Against the Raptors, Bojan did what he was brought here to do. He scored 18 pts (4/5 from 3) and was +16, in 16 min off the bench. I wouldn't complain if he did something close to that somewhat consistently.

He'll probably get limited playing time in the playoffs, if OG and JR are back and healthy.

I mean he's played over 50 career postseason games and done well. In his last 20 playoff games he's averaging 18 on 34 minutes.

As a bench veteran he's ideal.

Kobe Bryant's career average is 4.7.

Julius has talked about how he “draws a lot of attention” which allows him to dish it to an open man - he’s been a terrific component to this team’s offense. He’ll routinely grab 10 rebounds a game, too. I can’t wait to see him back on the court.
