Joe Milton Pro Day...

Amtoft : 3/28/2024 2:37 pm
Overlooked by LSU pro day was the Vols yesterday. Joe Milton who is my QB7 although pretty far behind the top 6. Milton ran a 4.56 40 which is really good for his size. I think his feet look a little slow in drops, but man he can sling it. If we go WR in round 1 and miss on the top 6 then this is the guy I want to take a chance on. He is raw and needs work, but with his arm, Nabers and Hyatt you would have to respect the deep ball opening things up. He is strong for short yardage runs and can hit every pass no matter the wind. Here are some of the highlights from his Pro Day.

he had a really strong year, his WR's had lots of drops...i would love to grab Milton in round 4 or 5....his upside is much better than DeVito...he may be a lifer backup, but thats ok...

by my buddy who is a Vols fan that he just isn't very good. Physical freak but not ever going to be a starter in the NFL.
With how much experience he has

He should not be as raw as he is with his mechanics. Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller were discussing him last night and they rightfully were questioning if it will ever click

He think he is raw because of the offense he played in. Same reason Hyatt was considered raw in running routes.

Sorry ... I* think he is raw
Yes he has a big arm & is athletic

That's about it though. He's got no touch. Doesn't have great placement on his passes. Relies a lot on his arm strength to make passes and that's just not gonna work in the NFL. He's older too. So I'm really not sure how much better if any he can get. I probably wouldn't draft him at all. Maybe if we had multiple 7th round picks.

Someone will bet on him because of the arm.

A project is fine and dandy, but I doubt Schoen sees that for a 24 year old.
I like him if we go WR in the first

He'd be a fantastic developmental guy who Dabs could mold. The guy has similar measurables to Josh Allen. Plus in terms of raw, he's no more raw than Anthony Richardson who was a first rounder last year.

If we are talking about giving a guy to Dabs with plenty of high end traits that just can't be taught(size, arm strength, athleticism), it's Joe Milton. Let Daboll figure out how to get the best out of him.

Check out what Boylhart had to say about Milton:

It's a lot easier to teach a receiver to run a route than a QB to read and react to what defenses are doing.
Hard pass on wasting any draft pick on Milton . .
GMen Fan in NashVegas : 3/29/2024 11:38 am : link
He appears to be raw yes, but he has shown close to zero improvement in reading coverages and is not instinctual at all playing QB. He has no touch on his passes. The only redeeming quality is his cannon for an arm. No touch on his passes. Doesn't move well in the pocket. Clueless post snap. Glad he's out of eligibility so Heupel didn't have to embarrass him by promoting Iamaleava over him for this coming season.
