then the short/medium passes earlier. The Washington Commanders contingent looked happy, maybe he goes #2. Link - ( New Window )
This would be a pick in the NFL; the receiver had to almost stop and wait for the ball … not a good look.
Agreed, that ball was underthrown with too much arc. I prefer JJ. Especially after Sy's comparison of the two. JJ is much, much better under pressure and Maye's stats plummet when he faces pressure.
You can see when he has a solid base ball comes out nice with velocity. When his footwork is off the upper body mechanics are off. He needs time and coaching. I hope he “falls” to us. He has all the potential in the world. His arm is fluid. Quicker release than JJ. He’s not as robotic as JJ more fluidity to his movements. Plus he has the natural size and AA. He reminds me a lot of Herbert. Will be a better pro than college player. Hope he falls to us if not let’s get Rome or Nabers.
If the Commanders took Maye over Daniels it would shock
Maye just looks like a high-level athlete playing QB.
The ball just pops out of his hand; and he really showed off his mobility. Personally, I think he has a better arm than CW.
Very encouraging.
Come on. Better arm than Caleb. That’s just nutty and I love Maye but I’m realistic. This is like when people said Daniels has a great arm. Caleb’s arm is beyond elite. From velo to touch. He enters the league next year it’s a top 10 arm talent immediately
Only has played two years. He's still a kid who has much to learn and get better with. A QB wizard like Brian Daboll was brought in to fix issues like that.
Daniels, Penix and Nix have been around college ball a long time. Maye is different and still has shown exciting promise. Eleven more big time throws than any other QB in FBS since he has taken over. Kid has big time potential but he needs work. McCarthy will, too, and that's completely fine with me as well. Daboll is here for those situations.

I'm fine with wither JJM or Maye, I think they both have immense potential. I do worry about how Maye seems to get really scrambled when under pressure, but maybe it's mechanical and can be coached out of him? Perhaps his mechanics--which already need work--break down badly under pressure. I will study this a bit more, because if that issue is mechanical then it's much better than if it's a mental issue with how his mind responds to pressure. Either way, if Schoen n Co feel conviction in one of these guys just go get him.
The NE Patriots message boards are all for taking Maye
I'm not saying overall arm talent - CW has that - but Maye's ball has more pop to me.
Got you. He does have a unique wrist action. Very rodgers like if you isolate that part of his arm. very different than Caleb but Caleb’s ball is effortless. As a side note I was shocked by how thick Caleb’s lower half looked. He has a Russell Wilson like lower body.
I can't see the Patriots passing on him at #3 now, assuming the Commanders don't take him. Link - ( New Window )
Pats take Maye and we trade with AZ for JJM is okay with me
The private workout they have scheduled with him on Sunday will probably go a long way to finalizing whether he's their top target or not, assuming Maye is taken earlier.

Thanks for posting, looked great on the deep balls and nice touch on some red zone throws. As others have said. Short and intermediate (nfl meat and potatoes throws) looked shaky, but that could have just been nerves. I don't think this seals the deal for anything regarding the Pats, that will come down to how they have the remaining QBs on the board graded. If they like Nix, JJM and Maye in the same tier or if they see Nix above them. He definitely has a strong arm, you could really hear it pop off receivers hands.

I'd be very happy with that. No matter what the Pats do I'd prefer to do this vs trading g pick 6, 47 a future 1st and 3rd for Maye. I don't trust his abilities under pressure, but that's just me. Like I said, maybe it is mechanical but after reviewing film I think it's more of a mental issue with how his brain responds to pressure. When pressured he locks onto his first read like a life raft, doesn't see the field, runs into sacks and throws picks. That could be tough to coach out of him if it is a mental response.
That's just my two cents. The deciding factor between great QBs and the rest is the ability to process information when you only have 2 seconds or less and you have monsters of men running at you full speed. That's the area that concerns me with Maye.
Im excited to see how things play out in 28 days and then over the coming years.
Is that Williams is going to Chicago and Daniels is going to Washington. The Patriots are deciding on Maye or trading down. But I really don’t think the Patriots can leave this draft without a QB.
Nervous to me. Like he knew him missing passes was going to be a big deal. He can out missing some passes he shouldn’t have. You could see his teammates pepping him up. However, they wisely took a break and he came out much better. Some of his deep passes were the best throws of any pro day and then a couple were short. Here is where it left me…
He has it in him. He has insane passing ability and then misses throws he shouldn’t. One thing that was brought up, he didn’t have two bad passes in a row. He recovered nicely and there is a ton to work with. He is still my QB3.
If they draft a WR I'm sure he'll be talented, but the offense will still suck. I have no interest in drafting a WR.
That's mostly where I am. This is a bumper crop WR class. I don't see that much of a drop off at all if you miss out on the "Big Three" - Nabers, Odunze, MHJR.
If we can't get the QB, trade out or I'm good with an OL (and then trade Neal).

That's funny. I said the same exact thing watching CW. He looked solid+ in the lower half.

Here's Colin Cowherds latest mock where they get him. And another mock where the Giants get Nabers.

Well now that Cowherd has spoken, we know what won't happen.
I really like Gray

He's obviously big and strong. I don't like how he throws the ball. It doesn't look great coming out.
If they draft a WR I'm sure he'll be talented, but the offense will still suck. I have no interest in drafting a WR.

I don’t see that. The ball jumps out of his hand. He throws with such ease.

Did he really say that?! As a Patriots hater, I hope so.
It worked out really well for his predecessor the last 4 or 5 years.

I'm assuming it's correct. I read it here.

I think it doesn't look great within 15 yards and looks great 20+ yards it's weird
