if not that...trade down and draft Brock Bowers...and likely would get Penix as well, as they could trade back up into 1st with the additional 2nd rounder.
They will take a QB, but no one in between 6-11 will. They all are all set at the position, so its likely we still get either Maye or JJ at #11, and we should have some other quality picks from Minny

I have to admit, this thought did cross my mind too.
I would probably draft Maye even though I dont want a QB. Id also explore trade down options, in that scenario Minnesotas 2 picks would be a nice consolation prize for us to get maybe Bowers at 11 and a CB or WR at 23.
This O needs playmakers.

There are lots of teams between 6-11 that will be getting offers to trade out if a QB slips.
If the Giants trade back to 11, it is because they aren't big believers in either Maye or JJ in that scenario.

Getting their #23 pick (and maybe even one more) would be worth the stress of waiting it out until #11 comes. If someone jumps above us for QB4, then we still can take Penix/Nicks and another "First Rd talent" at #23, plus of course our 2nd and 3rd rd picks are still there.
Maye looks great, it takes a special human to exist as QB in the NFL. JJ has survived it already IMO.
I kind of want McCarthy now. It sounds like we don't really need anyone else to win if we have this kind of meta-human on the team.
Meta-human? Hell, if BBI keeps running like this, we'll see JJ McCarthy leap tall buildings in a single bound. (:-)
Well Superman didn't play for Jim Harbaugh, which apparently is some kind of super power on it's own.
Really no point in play the NFL seasons anymore since the Chargers are now going to unlock the unstoppable force that is Jim Harbaugh's SuperHuman Winning FunTime Formula.
If the Giants love both May and McCarthy at six select the one that has more upside in your evaluation. If you're not sold on either of them we should be open for business at six and let the fun begin.
but I think the obvious answer is take the better QB if you think they have a good likelihood of being a top 10 NFL QB. Otherwise trade down for a haul to some team that does believe that.
If my uneducated opinion has to decide, I take McCarthy. But I would be fine with whatever the brain trust decided to do.

If either Maye or JJ is still there after 6 then another team absolutely will trade up to get them. Now is the time to get our QB - there won't be a better opportunity. Don't get cute.

Only issue with this is that it now becomes more likely that Denver or Vegas can trade up because going from, say 8 to 12 or 13 is not as big as going from 3, 4 or 5 to 13.
If the Giants were to trade down with Minnesota for the 11th and 23rd pick, it's likely that one of the six will still be available and if he's not, that means you got one of the five best non-QBs in the draft with the 11th pick (and the 5th year option for the 11th pick is significantly less than that for one of the top ten).
What if Giants had just lost a few more meaningless
Conversely, they may wind selecting the same guy with the sixth pick that they would've taken with the third pick. Or it may be that the guy we take with the sixth pick turns out better than the guy we would've taken with the third pick. Remember when we won too many games for a shot at Chase Young and had to settle for Andrew Thomas?
Once you get past Caleb Williams, it looks to me to be a YMMV group of QB and WR+ prospects: Daniels, Maye, JJM, Nix, Penix, MHJ, Nabers, and maybe Odunze, Bowers, and/or Alt; anyone of which it can be argued to be the best of the bunch. If the Giants want a QB, there will be one available that Daboll can build a winning offense around. If they want a pass-catcher, the worst case scenario is having to choose between Odunze and Bowers (and if that were the case, it would mean that three of six QBs are also available to choose from).

Welp, in that unlikely scenario, open up the bidding for the #6 pick.
I have to admit, this thought did cross my mind too.
What does special human mean? It doesn't take a special human. It takes a special talent.
And what did McCarthy survive? Playing mostly in the cozy confines of the Big House and Ann Arbor?
Let me explain something to you. McCarthy had the luxury - yes, the luxury - of having Harbaugh be the firewall of that program.
This O needs playmakers.
