We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the SELECTIONS thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the draft.
While we are starting early, the clock won’t officially start until
Monday, April 8th at 9am. The draft will run from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday until the start of the NFL Draft (Thursday, April 25th) or the completion of the 6th round. Please remember to use the DISCUSSION thread so we can keep this thread uncluttered.
Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two-hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two-hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (e.g. Kansas City won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year).
In consideration of your fellow participants, and so we can maintain strong momentum throughout the draft process, please continue to actively monitor the thread over the next two weeks. As always, I will provide "friendly reminder" emails as your upcoming picks approach.
If a GM misses a pick AND fails make some form of contact with me (either via email, posting on the draft DISCUSSION thread, or providing me with a prospect list) prior to their next pick, they will have just 15 minutes to make their next selection. With two consecutive missed picks, their spot will be forfeited and reassigned to one of the BBIers who have expressed an interest to fill the vacancy.
If you expect to miss a pick, please send me your draft board and I will make the selection on your behalf.
Per usual, we will also hold an undrafted free agency process that will start immediately after the final pick of RD6. Anyone who wants to participate can select up to 5 UDFAs. Selections are made on a first come, first serve basis. I am not making any changes to this process, so please don’t ask.
Please utilize the
BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet. The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible… Good luck!
You choice sucked. You're just as bad as Dave Gettleman!!!

Nice! You’re at a 3, I really need you at a 10! On this take, I need you to really let me have it. Your motivation is driven by your wife has left you, your daughter thinks you’re a joke and your favorite chinchilla has died. The Giants are all you have left, annnd….ACTION!
Boo
Commanders take Daniels...while all qb's (this year and always) have questions about delivering on-time passes in the NFL game, the floor here is still amazing with his athleticism.
Slight frame but can hopefully bulk up a bit, and very savvy (most of the time) at avoiding hits.
Fantastic deep ball, no character concerns I know of, interviewed well in clips I saw.
All qb's are a risk...this is one I'd be happy to take. *I'd also support the Giants moving up for him...upside is that high.
So what am I supposed to do today? Go with the unlikely scenario and select McCarthy, or by pass him for a WR? This situation stinks.
What would you do?
Since AZ and LAC don't need QBs, JJ will drop to the Giants.
I don't think this is how it plays out (i.e. NE, AZ and / or ?LAC will make a trade).
So QB4 or WR3.
Go with your gut. You'll get roasted no matter what lol.

Very true. Damned if I do or don't. LOL
We will see what SD does, and I will go and the ROASTING will begin. Like last year when I selected Brodrick Jones. However, considering how last year went, I bet many of us fans would have liked having a stud OLineman on the roster to step in when Evans faltered.

That is why I am glad I do not have the Giants in the BBI Mock Draft
Well, BBB just made my choice for me. Pick is coming up.
Anton Harrison - excellent starter already
Sidy Sow - good starter showed lots of potential to be excellent
Charbonnet - good rotational player showed lots of potential to be excellent RB
Trey Palmer - good backup that started to earn a lot of time late in year (nice TD in playoffs)
Desjuan Johnson - good backup that started to earn time late in year for Rams.
Broderic Martin - meh season, could be a miss but Detroit says they think highly of him.
Dylan Horton - missed most of season with cancer, probably a miss
Dawn of a new era.
Okay, let me know how stoopid I am.
Okay, let me know how stoopid I am.
Good pick. It needed to be QB.
The real draft can't get here soon enough.
Cheers
If the alternatives were equally uncertain I guess I would, but Rome seems special. No shade though, just my thought

I hear you. Rome would have fit in nicely with the Giants. But, I felt the risk on missing out on a QB at 47 was too high to take a chance on Odunze here.
Quote:
But with BBB's selection, I couldn't justify ignoring QB in the first round. Although, Anakim's choice of Odunze was very tempting too. I don't have confidence in Jones any more. Plus his injury history is extremely troubling. I planned to target a QB in the 2nd if I picked Nabers in the 1st. The Giants QB situation is just to uncertain to not select someone high in this draft. I feel strongly Nabers is going to be great, he was really the only one I would have ignored McCarthy for. Other than Harrison who I think is highly unlikely to make it to 6.
Okay, let me know how stoopid I am.

This is a QB first round for the Giants. Drafting a wide receiver just to have Jones or Lock throwing to him would be foolish.
This is going to be an exciting draft when it really happens.

It's funny because I think Schoen is dammed if he sticks with DJ and dammed if he trades up and fails. The only situation that plays out well for him is swinging and hitting a homerun on a franchise QB.
I loved your pick btw, MadPlaid.

I agree, we will end up having to trade 2025 2nd and 3rd (ish) to the Cardinals if we like the QB there.
Yeah, I was worried that we might stall here given his last visit to BBI was 3/20... He should have received emails last Thursday, early this am and again when he went on deck / on the clock...
Hopefully he sees the emails and checks in shortly

This is the dumbest thing I seen on this board, I have seen the original 04 invasion of the brain dead. BRING BACK GETTLEMAN!!!!!!!!!
CUT, PRINT!!! Chills, absolute chills. That's your Oscar moment. I feel good about our chances to bring home a statuette.
LOL, that was awesome. I almost believed it. Ha

I mean, you draft for the future, not for this season.
I disagree with the top 4 QB's off the board especially with the Vikings also having a pick at 23. If they don't think both Penix and Nix will be gone by then wait until that pick to select a QB.
They would... no way they pass on a QB. Really I expect Denver to take a QB here also and there is only one that super fits what Sean Payton likes to do. He really is the perfect fit.

is where the BBI draft always breaks down. No way Minny passes on QB here no matter what the owner will claim as the reason. This is how the Raiders got Justin Herbert because they would rather say look I drafted a good player than take a chance on a QB who may bust. However all the teams that passed on Justin Herbert are the ones that look dumb. Just like this pick of Dallas Turner.

No way either should make it that far and when they don't what is Minny left with... Rattler? hahaha You can't wait on your QB.
No we don't do that at this point. For the next week there is no clock. After we have a clock, Matt takes care of all of the e-mail reminders so you don't have to notify the team picking after you.

We do get emails... Matt checked in with me when we were a few picks out.

Nix did not look like anything other than a Day 3 gamble at Auburn and finally looked good when he was the most experienced player and playing in an offense that operated mainly within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage with WR's open in space. That does not easily translate to the NFL. He looked awkward when having to throw the deep ball or when trying to max out velocity. Penix was productive, but that injury history is scary and he looks like he may require a specific setup around him. If you are a team like the Giants can you risk taking him in Round 1 with the crap that you have protecting his blind side? I also do not see him being effective for a team who runs an offense built on timing.

Minny is not the Giants. They have pieces in place what they don't have is a QB. If 4 QBs go before pick 6 I expect the Giants to take MHj/Nabers. Then we will have to punt until next year. Minny can't do that though. They are a better team and have players in place to succeed now. By right Nix would never make it past Sean Payton and I can tell you neither will make it by the Raiders. I am going QB because that is the right move even though technically I already drafted Justin Herbert, but should I pass on a WR because I also drafted Justin Jefferson and AJ Brown?
Bye Felicia!
Whaaaattt... nooooo I wouldn't that... hahahaha
Come to the dark side, my drafting is Supreme:)
No such thing as a can't miss prospect. Dallas Turner isn't a can't miss prospect. Nix turns into a star and it won't matter how good Dallas Turner is... you blew the pick because on your team you don't have a QB.
Quote:
You guys talk like Nix is a can't miss prospect. I disagree.

Here is the thing... It benefits me. The Raiders need a QB and there is really only 6 good QBs in this draft. I was like well crap who is the best non QB player that fits my need... I was about to take the top CB, but now I get a QB that is a better need for me. Plenty of CBs later, but not QBs.
Also don't take anything personal. We are all just voicing our opinions. You are allowed to take anyone you want... Even if it is the wrong choice hahaha.
Agreed.
Indeed.
I dont know, I felt like Penix is in the mix for the Broncos....and I am not so sure Payton doesnt like him.
I can see this happening, but I can also see QBs slipping.
The Giants have gotten an enormous break with this draft, just like they did in 2018. All they have to do is be smart and take advantage.
Drive safe. We can wait if it takes longer.
Drive safely...
;)
You don't think Denver takes a QB? I think it is almost a lock they do. Have you seen their QB room? If 4 QBs are gone that leaves Nix and Penix.
The Raiders are also rolling out O'Connell, Minshew, and Anthony Brown. If they pass on a QB what is their prospects of succeeding? You get a Penix who I think is more likely that is a perfect fit for how they run their offense.
I think BBI wants a QB to fall to round two or late round 1 so they can take MHj/Nabers and then get a QB later, but it most likely won't happen.
Great pick and great fit for him. I thought about it but Saints really need a LT.
I think Fautanu is very underrated... He is the best athlete of any OL in this draft... Reminds me a lot of Penei Sewell, who I took for CIN as well
So obviously the 7th pick was for Titans:
Sorry about that

Oops! What a mongorific thing to say: "Where the QB is like a PG (not a QB, duh!) who makes quick decisions and releases" is what I meant to say. Come to think if it, it sounds like something else too, lol.

The Eagles would have loved to draft another player from Georgia, but barring that they go with the top DB on their board.

Even though he did not go to Georgia that was a nice pick here. He was BPA on my board when I looked this morning to make a short list of targets for the Ravens. I would not be shocked if a team like Las Vegas took him if they don't trade up.

As Chris simms said, if he did go to a school like Georgia he’s a top 10 pick.

I was going to take Quinyon at pick 13. He is the best CB in the draft and a steal. That would suck very bad if that happened. Chris always having the best drafts continues
Yep, unfortunately, we are having a string of GMs signing off right when their pick comes up :/
Hopefully, we get back on track... Yesterday was salvaged by the evening flurry

Remember. There are people on the West Coast as well as living internationally. I myself was living overseas for many years and posted at time many of you would consider cuckoo.
The Vikings need to sure up their defensive backfield and Wiggins provides them with a CB with length and speed as well as the ability to play outside corner.
That being said, in real life I think the Ravens would look to trade out as none of the players who are in my top remaining tier would I give a definite first round grade to (I do not consider first round grades being the 32 names if I just ranked everybody from 1 to infinity). The Ravens have a surprising number of needs and could benefit from more picks in the first 4-5 rounds.
There were several OT’s under consideration
I can tell you down here in Dallas they hope Jackson Powers-Johnson is the pick

If Dallas went DT with this pick I would have taken Newton instead.
Maybe he got caught up...
Like the pick, but I think I like it more that it was made by the Bills Mafia. Ha!
Quote:
Chop Robinson. Solid value this late at a premium position. Heavily considered WR here but that position is way deeper in this draft compared to DE. Rousseau and Epenesa are both free agents in 2025.

That is pretty strange. For me, a few years ago, when I was the Packers' GM, I made a selection from a McDonalds parking lot off the highway on the NJ side of the Delaware Water Gap. Hey, it was my turn, and I didn't want to keep the other mongos waiting. I care therefore I pick.

There's one I can't talk about (lol), but a safe one I think is from the side of the road driving back from Dubai to Abu Dhabi a few years back (I forgot which one though).

I literally did this afternoon when making the pick for Green Bay's new GM... Pulled over in a McD parking lot and posted the prepared post while running errands
When I made that selection in the parking lot, my wife was traveling with me at the time. She rolled her eyes at me so bad, I thought she might sprain something. You boys and your crazy mock drafts is what I think was going through her head.
Perfect place to do them! lol. You look busy and engaged!

Hahaha now that’s a scene. I haven’t been involved long enough to have a cool story yet. One of these days though.
They have 7 in the top 104 this yr
They have 7 in the top 104 this yr
Exactly. I can see Zona trading and trading assets for players or picks next year. This draft to them is more about quality than it is quantity.
Physically imposing, but so was Mekhi Bechton, Ereck Flowers, etc. Extremely inexperienced. I am not sure where you can play him if he flops at OT.
Excluding myself as well as the early picks I would say
Best - Philly with Quinyon Mitchell. I think he could be the top CB in this draft and it would not surprise me if he goes 10 picks higher on draft day.
Worst - Las Vegas with Bo Nix. I get you don’t want to be standing at the altar with QB7, but this was way too early and not really a scheme fit. If you look at what made Nix successful at Oregon it was keeping everything within 10 yards and getting it to guys in space. If you told me he was going to a team like Miami with Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill I could see it. But with Vegas that limits what Davante Adams can do.
Off to a good start
Assuming his foot checks out, the only significant knock on Newton is sub-optimal length. He’ll never be Chris Jones (another 37th pick); he’s built more like Ed Oliver, but he should be a better pro. In Newton and Malik Nabers, the Chargers start the draft with solid alignment of value and need - possibly the top prospects at both positions.
IRL, the Chargers will be listening to trade offers at #5, and might wind up using this pick on a receiver. For the purposes of a no-trades mock, they are happy to land Nabers at #5 and watch the run of second-tier WRs between picks 32 and 35.

Come on, dude. Help us move forward.
Come on, dude. Help us move forward.
He was on like 5 minutes ago so perhaps pulling up the spreadsheet to see who remains. At least that is my hope.
Seeing how this draft fell I like the Brian Burns trade more. You are not getting anywhere close to a pass rusher of that caliber at 39 and there really isn't someone who stands out to me here that I can say is ranked on a higher tier than what will be around at 47.

Probably still too embarrassed by the Chicago Bears Tennessee Titans snafu to make another pick.

LOL!! That's must be it. Shameful faux pas. Ha!
"Da heights of sheeeuh mongodom I tell yaz. Back aftuh diss."
"Hey Sexy Rexy, I haven't my pennix in yeahuhs. When's da last time you sawr yoah's?"
That is unfortunate.
In fairness, the first was only an hour and 58 minutes.
Why not send Matt your two-player board? You can even send him the formatted text of your post, if you want particular wording and a certain image. That's what I did last night for the 37th pick, so Matt was able to post the Newton selection while I was sleeping.
Not singling you out, FMiC. I think everyone should give Matt a board when they're on deck or close to it, which he can use if we don't make a pick in 10-15 minutes.
I gave Matt G my email and number so I promise to get right on it in the future
Adding Kingsley Suamataia is a great add for the O Line - he looks like he has more upside than most players you'd get in round two. Had to be addressed so took the top guy on my board
McConkey was a little more unexpected...we need corner and even an edge, and they were my first thought...but wasn't expecting him still here. McLaurin is a stud but Dotson and Brown aren't exactly scaring anyone, and Samuel has gone, so we could use an upgrade here as well. Also fits with providing Daniels the tools to win
I considered WR before the trade today. Not needed now. Atleast not this early
There are 4 guys at the top of my board if I am the Giants
Kind of glad my turn is coming up close to the end of the day at work. Give me time to review my options more closely before I make a selection. Last year, in a later round, I chose someone already taken and had to rush the choice. Don't want a repeat of that.
But we got Brian Burns who likely is better than any of them.
I also considered WR and CB as options, but just couldn't pass up on the monster Paul.
I was deciding between Sweat and Braswell. Great pick. Especially with Bijan in the division I was tempted to do it.
How do you leave WR off that list as well as DT! Really I would be looking at one of the top DTs left and there are some really good ones. Same with WR and whatever I missed on with those two I would get the other in the 3rd round.

I am not a Sweat guy. He is going to eat himself out of the league. He is a two down player at best. I am just glad MadPlaid can't draft him hahaha. If you want a Texas DT we want Murphy who is a stud. Of course like this draft he will probably be gone.

Yes that was part of my consideration too.

I do... I would go WR here and I won't say which one until he is picked, but we need a WR and there are a couple that are really good.

I do this because I have like 6 DTs and I would assume one would make it to round 3.

I will say that one of the 4 on my list is a WR. Don't want to divulge my whole list because I could still look at all 4 names if any are on the board when I pick next for the Ravens.
Is there a WR who really stands out from the rest at this point?

There is one.

I only see 2-3 more before the drop off happens again. This draft is deep in WRs because a lot of them have gone, but it only lasts until most like the beginning of the 3rd. That is why I would go WR now and not wait. DTs are a little deeper, but most of the draft is super strong until the top of the 4th when talent isn't nearly as good.
melton, dorlus, jalynn polk all guys id consider as well. corely and wilson too.
may go with one of the DL bc i think that's the position that probably drops off quickest. should still be good WR in round 3. corners you can get lucky in mid rounds as well.
Please let me know what you think and who you may have gone with instead of Nubin.

I am sorry you are dealing with a family issue. Never apologize for that as family always first.
I won't be to hard on your for picking a Safety when really all the safeties are basically the same throughout the 2nd-5th round. You know Dabs wants a play maker at WR and we needing a starting DT, but hey an average safety is good too.
Pearsall is my top WR also along with one other who I love. That is where I would have went. Ricky is so under rated, runs great routes, has great speed, great hands, good moves. Really a big fan.
Nubin was also on my short list.

to go Safety here. I would have gone with WR Pearsall or RB Benson or Brooks.

Plus if you go QB in Round 1 come one man... Let's give him a weapon to help out on. Now MadPlaid is going to grab a WR next round and it won't be as good and you bypass one of the really good DTs because they won't make it to the 4th.

JJ McCarthy and Ricky Pearsall would be an ideal first 2 rounds for me.
if it were my pick id have probably taken 1 of the premium position michigan guys because we saw them make big plays in the games at the highest competition level (and the 3 highest on board right now tested as dynamic 90%+ athletes as well). i think those are 3 very high floor but also solid ceiling players who fit.
CB a bigger need and higher value position. Talent is similar.
Not a terrible pick though at all... especially given new DC's love of 3 safety looks.
Good job.

Good job.
Corley is my other WR... I love Corley also who reminds me of Hakeem Nicks.
Nubin is so slow and I know people say he had the same speed of McKinney, but I think that is more the exception rather than the rule. Like someone said X had tape that was insane and his time dropped him.
Corley and Pearsall were on my radar, and I don't think I spent enough time evaluating them in comparison to the DBs. If I did a better job of reviewing and comparing, I think I would have gone with one of them. I did take a look at RB too, Brooks to be specific. But once I saw he was coming off a recent ACL injury, I dropped him from consideration.
I hadn't thought about the deemphasis on safeties lately in the NFL. So, I think I missed on that evaluation which makes me second guess about Nubin in the end. One of the CBs or WRs would have probably been the wiser choice. Oh well. Too late.
Second guessing must be a top problem for all sports managers. Hopefully they all have good therapists. Ha

As I said, Nubin was on the short list so not like you took a S nobody was expecting here. I will post when the other 3 names are selected just because I will likely go BPA for the Ravens and don’t want to reveal the names or I think you have my email. Hopefully the hiccups of today can right themselves or maybe it is just wishful thinking so I can get Pick 62 in tomorrow and likely won’t be on the clock until next week.
Is there a WR who really stands out from the rest at this point?
I'd have selected Morgan ahead of Nubin as well. Not a knock on Nubin though. It's more about positional value. At the end of the day though, the NYG need all the help that they can get.
bowen had byard (pick 66 in 2016 before got there) and hooker (picked 116 in 2019 when he was OLB coach) who both had a lot of similar qualities, though they were better testers.
if safety werent in play relatively early i think they'd have signed a veteran starter by now (though i think the same is true of WR, DL, CB). here's the mcginn blurb with comments from a few different nfl scouts on him:
34. New England (Sean) – Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina
35. Arizona (DCPollaro) – Xavier Worthy, WR/RS, Texas
36. Washington (Sir-Yes-Sir) – Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU

46. Indianapolis (Go Terps) – T'Vondre Sweat, IDL, Texas

Sorry for the delay in picking.
Not early at all given his measurables and physical style... Had a great Senior Bowl... A great Combine... Can play inside or out... Don't be surprised if he sneaks into RD1

Maybe you think its a bit early but his 'tape' is fantastic, he's feisty as hell and his testing was elite at the combine. I think he's a player.

He went in the first round of the Ourlads mock last night
I hit the wrong reply I meant Nubin
I've got my eye on someone...
After two defense picks, we went back on offense to take a weapon - Malachi Corley. He's a big guy that can catch, he can run it out of the backfield, he can break tackles, and he can knock you over. Kellen Moore will dream up a lot of ways to use this guy, and he can easily take over for the ineffective Parris Campbell...
Currently have 3 guys between my top two remaining tiers. If one is still around at 62 I should hopefully pick quickly

Oh man I totally missed this. I would say maybe you haven't seen Bo Nix enough. Nix has a strong arm and has made a ton of great down the field throws. He has some where he is rolling out, on one foot, across the field type throws. He made a lot of short throws not because he can't throw deep, but because that is the offense he played in. This isn't to early for Nix I would be completely shocked if he doesn't go pick 12 to Denver or Minny at all if they can't trade up. Ideally I think Penix is a better fit for the Raiders, but that mean that Bo Nix is not a fit. He is good size, good arm, good movement, good under pressure, good at protecting the ball, good at everything really. He isn't elite at things and really I think that is what people look for. That is why BBI probably struggles to see a player that goes in the first round. The kid can play and will be a long time starter in the league. Will he ever be a top 5 QB I don't think so, but that doesn't mean he won't be good and you can't win with him.
I believe I said long term starter. That is better than decent. It is tough to say top 10 QB when you Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Dak (yes regular season he is damn good), etc... To me he is Jared Goff or Kirk Cousins. They aren't great, but you can win with them. I mean look at that list and I didn't mention Caleb, Daniels, and Drake Maye who all have better potential to be a top QB. Brock Purdy, Jordan Love, CJ Stroud, etc. The NFL is currently loaded with QB talent and I think Bo Nix will be a long term starter in the mix with some of the names listed above. That is completely worth a first round pick.
This year both Benson and Jonathan Brown have made visits
I chose Benson as he reminds me of Lavion Bell.
RB a huge need for the Cowboys

I LOVE that pick for you Rick, you sly dog you! Benson fits like a glove in Dallas. Definitely a position of need and the talent is there. Well done sir.

I love Payton Wilson... When he was 100% he shows up amazing on tape. Can he stay healthy is the only question and I would have gambled on him as well here.
Had I known about the diggs trade before my first pick I would have done things differently. Would have been between Mitchell and Coleman for me. That being said I really like Rice. I don’t get the knocks on him. If you watch his highlights most of his catches from 2023 were clutch TDs and 3rd/4th down conversions. When Williams needed someone reliable he looked to Rice… even with others wide open. I love his tenacity and how he bullies defenders… you either have that or you don’t. The only other WR I was considering here was Walker. Another one who constantly made Maye look good. Lots of walkers big catches he had to slow down cause Maye couldn’t get it there. While I think the Bills would want to prioritize Walker’s speed - this is Tadaro’s draft room and he likes Rice’s confidence. I agree there’s a cliff after the early run at the top of the second- we’re given the handle we’re dealt and we make the best of it.

Brenden Rice and most of the other WRs are such a step down from all the other earlier WRs. I was a little shocked at the difference when I was going through all the WRs. Not that Rice isn't good, but he isn't close to the ones before him IMO.

I agree there is a lot to like about Rice. I don't think this a reach at all. I was just talking about the run on tier 2 WRs ended and we were into Tier 3. Which isn't a bad tier, but definitely a drop. I really want the Giants to get a WR in the first two tiers. That is all I was saying.

Watching Nix outside of Oregon's scheme I just have my doubts. He looked like a Day 3 guy at Auburn and at Senior Bowl and Combine he did not look good when having to do deeper passes or velocity.
I have one more second round grade on CBs and then I agree it is raw or missing in size/speed/skill I have all others in.

Jayden Daniels didn't look like a first round pick either at ASU. I think a lot of that can be explained of doing stuff your not use to, but look at his deep ball numbers. He can throw deep, has plenty of arm. I still have him QB5/6, but I see much more ability in him. That is part of this though. Me and Chris Simms like him better than you don't. Makes talking about this more fun.
Colson was the last player on the board that I considered for Tampa pick

NO! It is not a kicker.
You bet... Thanks for the plug BBB
NO! It is not a kicker.
An injured RB with Wilson and Walker on the board???
Betting on greatness is fine by me, not sure I do it for a RB though. But I see what MadPlaid is thinking.
I am only pretending like I know what I am doing.
I second that. Not only is Matt good about following your order, but you can be confident that he doesn’t look at your lists until after he has made his pick if that is a concern for you.
Who are we kidding here? Eric Gray sucks. The Giants need all the help they can get at the end of the day.
Trotter was also on my list after Colson got taken. Ravens could use some LB even before losing Queen in the offseason.
agreed. polk or wilson was probably my nyg pick there. maybe dorlus.
Polk was the guy I was hoping would fall to the 4th round for the Giants. I guess that was wishful thinking on my part. I definitely wanted him. I just thought he'd last a little longer. Damn it!
If they are using their due diligence to find players not on my list I do not mind. What I am most interested in seeing is who is QB7 and when will that player be selected.
Jim Nagy actually just did a thread on him if you need to be sold.
@JimNagy_SB
At this point in process, even casual draft fans know about the top names in DT rankings...Texas' Byron Murphy & T'Vondre Sweat and Illinois' Johnny Newton.
Here's another name that's not going too far below those bigger name IDL: 𝘽𝙍𝘼𝙉𝘿𝙊𝙉 𝘿𝙊𝙍𝙇𝙐𝙎
Based off what teams are telling us, Dorlus is virtual Day 2 lock because he's got potential to be eventually be double-digit sack guy.
Natural rush reactions & counter instincts like this👇make Dorlus intriguing likely Round 3 option for teams who don't go DT with early picks.
🧵1/7
obviously this is with the benefit of hindsight, but i think dorlus and 1 of the WRs (roman wilson or polk prob) would have been my NYG day 2 picks. melton would have been in the mix at #47 too.

Interesting. He was not the CB I was referencing when we were discussing yesterday.
Quote:
that was my #1 player on the board boat guy... I had him as a second rounder. He is a very good CB and a steal this late. Great pick.
Interesting. He was not the CB I was referencing when we were discussing yesterday.
Really... I assumed we were talking about the same player. He is a converted WR and only getting better. He was all SEC, second team All American, gave up a passing rating of 54.7, less than 50% completion against him last year, 13PBUs with 4 INTs, and only getting better.

I don't think he makes it and I also thing he isn't an Edge for us. If we are talking for our DT I have 3 other players I like better than him. Two from the same team.

I thought he was too slight to play outside. The CB I had a Round 3 grade on was Khyree Jackson from Oregon.
Jim Nagy
@JimNagy_SB
Oregon's Brandon Dorlus' position usage is truly unique in this DL class.
✅ 1,950 total reps
✅ 755 inside at DT or NT
✅ 522 as hand-down DE
✅ 673 as standup LEO/OLB
That's crazy scheme-diverse position flex!
Teams with creative defensive coordinators are going to love upside of this player.

I like Jackson... I watched a ton of Oregon this year unfortunately. Insane height, but he is slight also. 194 for 6'4 is not big. My only problem with him is he is soooo raw. Because of that you can beat him with double moves and he is out of position at times. I do like him though. I was planning on Quinyon Mitchell in the first and had to pass, had to pass on Melton in the 2nd and just missed Abrams-Draine. Maybe CB isn't in my books this year hahaha.

He is diverse, but I don't see the pass rusher that Jim Nagy does. Now am I better scout than Nagy... Hell no not even close, but I don't see double digits. I believe he is assuming he gets those as a 4-3 edge. Again I like Maason Smith, Michael Hall, and Wingo all better for our DL/DT. That is just me though.
Never seen him... wasn't even on my radar so now I have to do some research damn it... hahaha
I thought he had been picked since I didn't see him in the top 30 or 40 available players when I was looking this morning
Polk was always going to be my first 3rd round pick if he made it to me. When I made the Polk pick, I did a name search to see where Kiran was selected and saw that he hadn't been. So I just crossed my fingers and hoped he make it a few more picks - and here we are
Quote:
Can play tackle and guard. Will likely start at guard and then potentially move to tackle after a year or two

Brugler's 58th ranked player in the draft. Suffered a season ending injury and it prevented him from participating in the all star games so he hasn't gotten much press in the last few months.

Thanks Amtoft... Yep, I was always surprised by how he was used at USC... I would guess the injury concerns are what is holding him back a bit... His game just seems to be what the NFL is looking for
No, I appreciate the criticism. I want to know if you think I'm making a mistake. I am trying to learn as I go. I took a bit of a gamble there with the 3rd round pick. I had my eyes on a WR who I thought could fall to me in the 4th round. Polk. I liked what I read about him a lot. Sounded like one of those under the radar players who prove to be great. I lost. He wasn't under the radar enough. LOL
I liked what I read about Maason Smith, I just liked Brooks more. He is part of the gamble. If he recovers fully, we have a heck of a playmaker to take Saquon's spot in the committee.
Tyler Higbee is 31 years old, and this pick stabilizes the position for now and the future. I feel like Sinnott is a 2nd round talent, so getting him here gives Stafford two new weapons to go with the aforementioned Higbee, as well as Kupp and Nacua, now having Ricky Pearsall and Sinnott to give a lot of flexibility in the offense.

i think nagy is projecting him as an interior DL pass rusher. john franklin meyers type. i think autry is a decent comp also, he played bunch of different alignments and is in that same 285lb range.
Also wanted to add... Jaylen Wright is my favorite RB in the draft. I loved watching him for Tennessee.
Quote:
I mean are you still dealing with family issue... I don't want to be mean man, but we needed a top WR who has a chance to be a #1 and DT. You got a slow Safety and an injured RB. I mean I like Brooks don't get me wrong. I think he would have been a 2nd rounder if he didn't tear his ACL late. I think he has great potential, but we don't have the luxury in the way you are drafting. A backup or part time RB when we needed a starting DT and Maason Smith is sitting right there. I just don't get it.
Hey, quit picking on me, ya big doodie head! Kidding.

You know the funny thing... I was trying to be nice hahaha. I understand your drafting... We need a Safety, we need a RB, we need a QB... Can you really not hit a position we need with draft picks. We need a CB, We need a DT, we need a WR, we need another OL, we need we need we need.
Matt, you have Houston’s pick wrong and not sure if Cleveland wanted Wilson or Walker before we move on
The Wilson pick was immediately after Walker so I think it would be good to find out who Cleveland wants.
Good to go Rick... Apologies
Cowboys do a good job coaching up OL.
Going to take a long Siesta guys as my next pick is in 5th round at number 174.
Matt great job once again my friend.
Take it easy on Madplaid
By the way, one of the things I believe in is you do not pick for need alone. You must find talent and you use need to help break a tie. I am trying to find talent regardless if we are particularly weak in any specific place. That's why I selected a Safety with one of the two first rounders we had a couple years ago instead of an Olineman. He's now a star player for the Ravens. Why I went Oline in the first round last year when we apparently had bookends already in place. He is now a starter for the Steelers.
Grab the talent first, worry where they fit later.
Yeah, the safety this year was probably not the best move on my part. Although there are analysts who think he's got 1st round talent. However, I am happy with the RB. I'm gambling I nabbed a talent that if he hadn't been hurt would have been a first round draft pick. And, I got him in the 3rd. Although, that gamble was partly made because I thought I could get away with waiting to select a talented under the radar WR later. That didn't work out the way I hoped.

I hear you... however by the time you pick DT or WR the talent is gone. Safety and RB there is still talent with the same level as who we got is all. It is working the draft where the talent is heaviest. WR is round 1-2 loaded, but so many will be gone that round 3 is getting slim and probably won't have even a good WR2 in the remaining group. Taking a WR now would almost be a waste. Will that person be any better than Slayton, Hyatt, and Robinson? No so we missed WR this year while we could have got a safety in round 4 that could break into Pinnock and Belton. Same with RB there are some later that can back up Singletary or share with him. DT the list is small now who is good with this year starter material and it drops off. That is all my point is. The draft isn't 7 rounds deep at all postions. In fact Safety has light to no 1-2 round talent, but not bad 3-5 round talent. DT has 2nd to early 3rd round talent and then drops.
Very cool.

I was very happy he was still available at my pick. RB was not a big need for Houston but pairing another young offensive talent after going Def, Def, the previous two picks was pretty important, (to me at least)
Wright to me not only has perfect RB size but that speed and explosiveness can not be ignored.
You took both my picks right in front of me in RD 1-2... I was planning to take Verse and Melton... And I only got a reprieve on my last pick because JAX traded out! lol
No worries... Thanks for getting it in!

I guess with Hall it's that he is undersized at 290lbs but he's also just 20yo so you would think 10-15lbs isn't out of the question... And he's just a really tough experienced player coming out of OSU...
And then with Taylor, he had a bit of a down season and there are questions around him not playing to the whistle... But he has great quickness off the snap for a man his size... Also, keep in mind that last year they started playing him at 0-technique for most of his snaps... He is much better suited at 3T... He is relatively young (21) and has a lot of talent for a DL coach to work with...
Both seem like nice upside picks at this point in the draft
BTW I’m in NY not west coast.
I try! :)
Pivot to Smith. A guy with all the upside, physical attributes and athleticism but raw.
Smith and Hall were both high on GBN board although Hall represented too much value to pass up. At pick 93 can gamble on his potential.

Maason Smith will go higher than this. He is was 100% he was not good he was great. He dominated. I hope the Giants get him in the 3rd if he makes it. Most of this years DT are in the 290 range and Maason Smith is the one with good size at over 300. Great pick.
I also like Michael Hall who is in my 3rd round DT hope for the Giants.

There was another player the Commies could really use as well, had a hard decision here, but we'll take a guy that might be a long-term starter
Back to the Chargers' pick at #105, OT Matt Goncalves...
I think plan A for LAC is to trade out of #5 and seek a replacement for Trey Pipkins later in Round 1. In a no-trade daft, we decided to go for greatness at #5 with Malik Nabers and gamble that a field-ready RT prospect would be available at #37. That didn't work out, so the new staff will have to live with Pipkins for now, and hope a long-shot Plan B yields a new right tackle by 2025.
Goncalves missed most of the 2023 season with a toe injury - never a good thing for a 327-pound lineman. At #105, there are no clean prospects, so the Chargers hope for the best with his toe and his borderline OT traits. We figure Goncalves has at least as good a chance of developing into a starting RT as the other options left on the board. His floor should be as a valuable sixth man, which wouldn't be bad value here.
LOL! That tracks. Fair
I know who I would be looking at if I was MadPlaid, but we'll see if he goes that direction.
Just when I think you can't make this draft any worse.... You go and totally redeem yourself! If you decided to watch LSU to see Daniels, Nabers, and Brian Thomas and it wasn't just highlights. Your probably saw Wingo wrecking shop with quickness. He has had some injuries, but high character and a leader. They give #18 out as something you have to earn. He is going to be a good fit in our def which if people didn't know is more 4-2-5 than anything. He will cause issues on the inside especially on passing downs. He shouldn't have made it this far.
Really I had a 4 player board and now it is only a two player board. Renaldo Green is a great pick in the 4th. It seems after not getting one in each of these 4 rounds I won't be getting a CB this draft.
I don't agree. Isn't Bowens style blitz less and let his front 4 get to the QB while grabbing the RB on the way. That is Wingo who wins with quick first step and will cause troubles for OGs trying to block him. He is strong too. I think all these undersized DTs that are good penetrators are good fits for us.
Rd1: QB Jayden Daniels
Rd2: OT Kingsley Suamataia

I haven't seen or studied Suamataia, however the rest of that draft is really good. I love the Haynes in the 3rd although in real life I don't think he makes it that far.
Sweet I am good!

If you can avoid someone I am looking at that would be great
I was hoping Austin Booker would last to #140, but Coach Harbaugh's brother snagged him a #113. Serves Jim right for talking about edge rusher prospects over Easter dinner.
Jags happy to take him in whatever round this is.
I just tend to think corner is a safer middle round bet to pay off then edge. Maybe I just have Ellerson Smith on the brain

I had already gotten my CB having selected T.J. Tampa in Round 2.
So far for the Ravens I have
Round 1 - Tyler Guyton
Round 2 - T.J. Tampa
Round 3 - Michael Hall
Round 4a - Austin Booker
More emphasis on Defense than I expected to do early on, but that was how the draft fell. 3 picks left to go followed by "UDFA." Lot of names still on my board, but none stand out as clearly better than the rest.

This is a really good draft also. I wouldn't want Worthy as my #1, but he wouldn't be with MHj. He can and will make plays not to mention his return abilities. Orhorhoro is one of my favorite DTs I want the Giants to get. Nice draft so far.

Ruke next to Dex would be fun to watch, I wonder where Sy will have him
You have to feel bad for Kamara at this point.
If you select before the player after you has picked you can override the autopick
Since you just beat Indy had Kamara been there would you have selected him?
If nobody else selects and Seattle says they would not have taken Kamara if he was available I don't have a problem giving you Pratt

Thank you, Amtoft. I need to credit you on this one. Earlier you endorsed the DLinemen who were available, so I paid them more attention for my 3rd & 4th round picks. I was probably going to select Orhorhoro at 3, but he was gone, so I went with Brooks. Fortunately, Wingo was still available at 4. I’m happy how things have worked out. I’d like a do over in the 2nd though.
Hey, I didn’t notice that the Giants have a long wait between their 4th & 5th round picks. This is where trades suck.

Just noticed that I get a chance to possibly snipe you in Round 5! :)
Thank you Pete. We do not pick again until #157 and he was not going to last. His 4.33 speed alone makes him attractive.
Looking at my top tier of remaining players, which still has a lot of names, WR was one of the shallower positions with only 2 guys still on the board (Thrash and a player who shall remain nameless until he is selected). Of the two I thought Thrash was the better bet to play outside at the NFL level as the other guy looked more like a slot guy so that was the direction I went. Would not be surprised if Rounds 5 and 6 and "UDFA" come form this same tier of players that, quite frankly, would be late Day 3 and UDFA types in most years.
Yes, McMillan was the other WR that I had as a draftable grade in this year's draft. This really is a year that you want as many picks in the top half of Round 4 or higher as the pool after that is equivalent to late round/UDFA after that.
I will make the offer again at the start of next year's draft
He may not have the bend that scouts typically look for but has great size (6'4 267), plenty athletic enough (4.69 40yd with 1.62 split) and the guy just plays with his hair on fire... Uses a squick burst and a strong bull rush to get to the QB and make plays behind the LOS consistently (+12 TFLs in '22 and '23)... Similar size, athleticism and effort as another former draft sleeper, Maxx Crosby coming into the league... Team captain and seems like a great kid with the intangibles to succeed at the next level
"Plays as hard as anyone in the conference. I think coaches will like him just a little bit more than scouts will, and maybe they will be right." -- AFC national scout
Davis is nearly two years older than Spiller. His age and ~850 college touches - across three programs - suggest some wear on the tires. Still, he played his best ball in 2023, with a breakout game against Florida, so the Bolts see him as good value in Round Five: a potential starter and a nice three-down insurance policy in case Edwards hits a wall at 29.

I don't know... I thought the same thing it falls off. Not sure if just people are missing on the players I like, but I have two players I think are high 4th rounds and another 4-5 that are solid late 4th or early 5th. I am hoping to get two of them in my next two picks although I have had my 6th round pick lined up since before the draft.

thanks! agree with all of that. I like my edge guys with some size and bulk to be factors stopping the run. Very active and physical, just lacking an explosive twitch. He's a very interesting prospect that feels similar to AJ Epenesa
That is one of the reasons I picked Smith for the Falcons a few picks ago
It happens like that sometimes. The Giants allegedly almost drafted Tiki Barber 7th overall in 1997 ahead of Ike Hilliard.
I had let me know that he would be back up again
Dang it. He was at the top of my list for hoping he would be there at 165.

Damn it, McCormick was my back-up and I thought he would slip through because of where he was ranked
Good, you didn't. Give me a minute
MadPlaid, I couldn't help myself. Jim Harbaugh talked about how much he loved Keegan so John did him a solid when Limmer and McCormick got sniped.
Thanks, Andy. That's what I was shooting for. Plus, I think he could be a good special teamer.
Apology accepted. With Round 6 I am debating whether or not I want to take someone so obscure that he did not even make the list of players or just wait until "UDFA" and take him as one of my five there.
I won't be disappointed if I lose out on him although I do try each year to find someone so obscure that he is not even listed on the sheet (last year it was Houston CB Art Green who spent all of 2023 on the Broncos Practice Squad I believe after going undrafted)
Thanks Mike. Either would be a good addition to the Giant OL- versatility and talent. God knows we need it.
The guy had 16 sacks last year. It is the 5th round. This is the round you take chances on guys like this. He is small and not super athletic, but he clearly has the ability to get to the QB. Could be a sit pass rusher.
Quote:
I hear you. I think if you really want this guy, you select him in 6, and not wait for the UDFA’s. A lot of the GMs watch college ball as much as you do. Someone may have seen this guy too and are thinking the same thing as you.

I have a player I am high on and might go in the 6th round. Small school prospect, but right now I have a 4th round talent I am praying makes it to me.
Nice pick.. he's a monster
Yeah, I bet Matt has it.
My last pick was made at 1:46 so it's nearly the full 2 hours..
49ers are on the clock

This is my last pick- I never thought I would get the whole draft in as I leave for Germany this afternoon.
I am happy with the picks I made for Minnesota, despite NOT taking a QB. We all know thw Vikings will move up in the draft, but, drafting with what I had, I thought Penix and Nix were reaches at 11. I would have considered a QB at 23, but the big four were off the board. Drafting a QB at 11- Nix or Penix- ia an over- draft in my view, and we all know the end result of that. Draft Best Player Available, which I did with Dallas Turner. He is going to be a stud.
I also added a much needed CB with Nate Wiggins, sured up the DL with Justin Egoigbe and added what I feel could be a nice piece at RB with Isaac Guerendo.
Always fun guys. I will be back in time for the draft. Enjoy the next two weeks leading up to the draft.
I've got a couple guys who I really like here, but like Mike was torn with yesterday, I have someone I want, but he may be available as an UDFA. I'm going to review the Giants roster one more time and make up my mind.
2. 2/037: Jer'Zhan "Johnny" Newton, DL, Illinois
3. 3/069: DJ James, CB, Auburn
4. 4/105: Matt Goncalves, OT, Pittsburgh
5: 4/110: Johnny Wilson, TE/WR, Florida State
6: 5/140: Ray Davis, RB, Kentucky
7. 6/181: Kitan Oladapo, S, Oregon State
Those picks hit all the obvious holes. Had to reach a bit in the middle rounds to get there. Also had to exile Coach Harbaugh from the draft room because his preferred picks at each slot were:
1. 1/005: J.J.McCarthy, QB, Michigan
2. 2/037: Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan
3. 3/069: Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan
4. 4/105: Braiden McGregor, EDGE, Michigan
5: 4/110: AJ Barner, TE, Michigan
6: 5/140: Trevor Keegan, G, Michigan
7. 6/181: Drake Nugent, C, Michigan
The last straw was when we caught him negotiating with the Broncos to trade Justin Herbert.

It's all good in da hood homey. Just don't take my guy, lol.

Hope to catch a few top UDFAs this year
Nice pick. He was my fallback if the top player on my board (who is still there) was selected.
You are forgiven mongo. Take two chugs of a Diet Coke as your penance...

Well he showed up so you don't have to worry
Computer issues raised their ugly head again but I think I finally got it resolved.

It's all good man.
My guy is still there for the Ravens at #218 although GoTerps sniped my back-up plan with Vidal. If the guy I have at the top is gone I think I have one other name before I would end up in the pool of players I would take as a "UDFA"
Has absolute elite athleticism which could help him see the field early on special teams
Bills hold visit with WR Ryan Flournoy prior to 2024 NFL draft - ( New Window )
Warms my heart to read this.
The picks:
Round 1, Pick 14
OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu Penn State (was considering but took him over Jared Verse)
Round 2, Pick 45
Pick 45 DE Chris Braswell Alabama (was considering but took him over DT Sweat from Texas and WR Ricky Pearsall)
Saints were a bottom team in sacks and Braswell fit need, BPA with upside.
Round 5
150 Beaux Limmer OG Arkansas - selected to play guard not center though he may be go as a center
168 Jacob Cowing WR Arizona - slot receiver comparable to Tank Dell. If he was a couple inches taller he would go much earlier..
170 Tykee Smith S Georgia - Strong safety type filled a need in the secondary also seen listed as a corner
175 Khristian Boyd DT Northern Iowa - Was considering Jordan Jefferson a few picks earlier but I think I like this pick better. Massive and strong DT to stop the run. Is he that much worse than Sweat? Possible small school discount here.
Each player selected in the 5th round i had a 4th round grade on.
Round 6
190 Chau Smith-Wade, CB, Washington State - Corner depth. Have seem go in the 3rd 4th rd range. Was torn between him and another corner still on the board. Also eyed Brownlee when I selected Boyd but felt DT was bigger need.
199 Marist Liufau, LB Notre Dame - Middle linebacker depth with Demario Davis up there in age. May inherit the position. Could also play SLB and special teams. Saints needed a linebacker and they get a steal with their final pick of the 6th round.
Thanks so much this was very fun I look forward to seeing how my picks do in their NFL careers, seeing where they go in the real draft and participating next season!

You pick ahead of me so I am happy to take it offline. Matt can give you my email if you want.
That happens if the last pick chooses to post UDFA at the same time as their pick
Quote:
does the last pick of our draft essentially get first crack at the UDFAs? Since we must wait until the last pick is made before we can announce UDFAs on first come first serve basis, but can't the last pick basically make their final pick and then list it's 5 UDFAS? That's how it happened last year
That happens if the last pick chooses to post UDFA at the same time as their pick
I guess it is unavoidable

: #Texas RB Jonathon Brooks got good marks at the Scouting Combine medical recheck and remains on track to potentially be the first back selected in the 2024 #NFLDraft.
always a few we'd have all done differently but a very solid group. with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight i think id have gone jj, pearsall, dorlus, phillips with the first 4 - so minor preferences aside it's basically the difference of brooks/pearsall as skill players and phillips/nubin as dbs. with full hindsight i may do nubin rd 2, roman wilson rd 3, keep wingo rd 4, and then phillips rd 5 but im not even sure phillips or wilson makes it to rd 3/4 so that feels extra cheaty.
- They signed our UFA, Will Clapp, to back up McGovern.
- They drafted Tanor Bartolini at #144 as the center of the future.
- They added Mason McCormick at #166 for further depth.
Cool. Depth on the interior OL is important. And then they go and draft Coach Harbaugh's mascot and top UDFA target, Drake Nugent, at #204? That's some bullsh!t right there. We placated Jim by assuring him that Nugent won't make the roster (which he won't - nobody carries four centers). Depending on whether Corey Linsley retires, we'll either claim Nugent off waivers or sign him to the practice squad after he clears.

Thank you, Eric, for the feedback. My one regret is I didn't pick up a WR. That is where I am second guessing my decision making the most.
I'd prefer we get to UDFA before I leave the office! Unfortunately Chris took one of the names on my list.
Tough luck, mongo!
Philly draft is complete. No third rounder but plenty of comp picks and an extra second help. We doubled up in two areas that can immediately help with depth and specials, took advantage of the WR depth, and took a TE coming off a major injury that has long-term potential as a TE1 in this league.
1. Quinyon Mitchell, Toledo, CB
2. Bralen Trice, Washington, EDGE
2. Malachi Corley, W. Kentucky, WR
4. Ty'Ron Hopper, Missouri, LB
5. Caedan Wallace, Penn State, OL
5. Andru Phillips, Kentucky, CB
5. Anthony Gould, Oregon State, WR
6. Erick All, Iowa, TE

would agree with that analysis, WR is the strength/depth of the draft so it would be surprising to not come away with one. id be very happy with pearsall or wilson day 2.

Thankfully my top guy for awhile was still on the board. Surprised Murphy fell all the way to this pick. Sure he did not look the best in his All Star game, but was really productive for UCLA and timed well at the combine. I think he is worth the gamble at the 218th pick.
GB apparently got internet back at exactly the right time
My pleasure, Mike... It was fun as always!
He's only 5'10" but well built. Ran 4.39 and had 1152 yards with 14 rushing TDs this year (with 6.0 YPC) and mixed in 480 yards receiving off 53 receptions and 3 more TDs.
1600 yards from scrimmage and 17 TDs is nothing to sneeze at especially with the timed speed he's shown. Lower comp, but worth a looky look on day three imo.
If that ends up being the case, I will make the auto-selection to kick off the UDFA process… And will post my picks for CIN separately
Thank you again for being the best. Really appreciate all you do with the mock draft. It is very much appreciated.

I don't think he does UDFA because it would be so hard to try and get everyones in.

I sent my UDFA list to you. I have a meeting at 1:30, so I suspect I will miss the stampede.

Makes sense. Oh well, no UDFA's for the Giants this year
We end our draft class with:
Jered Verse - EDGE
Max Melton - CB
Maason Smith - IDL
Javon Baker - WR
Tanner McLachlin - TE
Jaylin Simpson - DB
Blake Watson - RB
We filled some needs but were more looking for BPA with a focus on premium positions earlier in the draft. I feel the draft is weak so I didn't want to mess around getting cute, I just wanted to draft good players.

Nice Draft Andy... If only you drafted this well for the Giants! hahaha just kidding but I did notice you got a TE in there.
hahaha
He might get kicked off the island

It is an Island... internet has to be spotty.
Driskell is highest name on the sheet so that is generally the procedure followed especially at this point of the draft
What a great bunch of nutjobs! ;)

Matt you should have posted in the pick... you deserved it.
:p
:p
Except it doesn't allow you to post twice so it cheats the guy who does all the work! That was incredible. I thought I was going to miss because I looked at the thread first to make sure a pick had been made.
Great work all!

Instead you took a few who were duplicated a lot! I have tried to comment where someone was selected so that you can replace with other people

Sorry for messing up with the UDFAs but posted my 5 that weren't drafted or signed by anyone else
1st round - Bo Nix QB - I really think this should have been Quinyon Mitchell or Penix. I think Nix is a lock to Denver if he is there. I really like Nix though. Just because he wasn't asked to throw deep doesn't mean he can't. He has a good arm, good mobility, good under pressure, good accuracy, just good at everything.
2nd round - Patrick Paul OT - We needed a RT Paul was a guy I was targetting. 6'8 with over 36 inch arms. Was very happy to land him with Morgan and Melton as my back ups
3rd round - Roman Wilson WR - I think he is very under rated. Like JJM he suffered from playing in an offense that didn't throw much in the second half because of big leads, great running team, and strong def.
4th round - Dadrion Taylor-Demerson DB - This is one of my favorite players in the draft. He is a little undersized, but he can hit and his coverage is off the chart. He would be a perfect 3rd safety nickel safety for us.
5th round - Mohamed Kamara Edge - I was hoping Jarrian James would be my pick here, but some how Kamara fell. I just don't see it in the real draft. Fast, explosive, and strong pass rusher. His floor is a good sit pass rusher IMO.
6th round - Jarrian James CB - I don't get why sites don't have this kid higher. Good size, great speed, and was really good in coverage. PFF had a 90+ grade on him.
Undrafted FA
1. CB Willie Drew Virginia State - Was great at the SR bowl. Has good size and speed.
2. WR Lideatrick Griffin Miss State - With the new kick return I expect Lideatrick to get drafted. He is probably the best KR in the draft.
3. RB Cody Schrader Missouri - over 1600 rush yards in the SEC with 14 TDs last year and 9 the year before as a backup
4. RB Jase McClellan Alabama - Was the lead back and Sy's 13th ranked RB even though he went well below that
5. CB Decamerion Richardson Miss State - 6'2 and tested off the charts at the combine. He is a little stiff and needs some work, but you can't teach height and speed.
One of my favorite drafts even though I was just missing out on my CB in each round I finally got one I love in James to make this draft complete.

Yeah Decamerion Richardson was popular! hahaha
Round 1 - Tyler Guyton - OT - Oklahoma
Round 2 - T.J. Tampa - CB - Iowa State
Round 3 - Michael Hall - 5T - Ohio State
Round 4a - Austin Booker - EDGE - Kansas
Round 4b - Jamari Thrash - WR - Louisville
Round 5 - Trevor Keegan - IOL - Michigan
Round 6 - Gabe Murphy - LB - UCLA
UDFA - Josiah Ezirim - OT - Eastern Kentucky
Making a big jump in competition, but the physical specimen is intriguing as a developmental OT. There are not many people who are 6'5 3/4" 329 with 10 3/4" hands, 35 3/4" arms, and 85 1/8" wingspan that can still run a 5.15 40 and jump 29 1/2" even if the 10 yard time was a little slow
UDFA - Cole Burgess - WR/KR - SUNY Cortland
My annual tradition of finding someone who is not on the Google Sheet! I was worried someone would snipe him when he made Sy's Top WR list so I was happy he was still here. The Pro Day was insane. Rather than typing out all of the results I will link below. Worth a shot with the new kickoff rules
UDFA - Trey Taylor - S - Air Force
Ravens could use some depth in secondary and I think Taylor works on Special Teams. Although the athletic tools don't jump out at you, he was super productive on the field
UDFA - Dallin Holker - TE - Colorado State
Was running out of names, but he looks like an interesting chess piece at this point who Todd Monken and Co. can use in various ways
UDFA - Jowon Briggs - NT - Cincinnati
Looking for some depth at the NT position. He is a smidge undersized, but man is he strong. Did 39 reps at 225 on the bench at his Pro Day. The peripherals also indicate that, of all of the players who completed each timed drill, Briggs has one of the fastest relative speeds of any DT in this class. Relative speed is essentially taking what the player's Effective 40 (for DT it is 50% 10 yard split, 10% 40 time, 20% Short Shuttle, and 20% 3 Cone) and adjusting for weight
Cole Burgess - ( New Window )

Willie Drew was also on my list though not in my Top 5 when I posted.
I honestly was debating about the Mississippi State CB with pick 218 but decided that Gabe Murphy was too much of a value to pass up. Storm Duck was on my radar but I was able to get some higher ranked names instead.
