I just want to point out how refreshing it is that the Giants' first pick isn't being telegraphed. Back when we had Gettleman, everyone apparently knew he wanted Barkley. It was common knowledge that the Giants wanted a WR in the first round in 2021, and that were weren't interested in Parsons, to the point that the Cowboys and the Eagles of all teams felt comfortable trading around us to get the guys they wanted.
Looking at this month's draft, I have seen mocks where we...
1. traded up
2. traded down
3. stayed put
4. drafted Daniels
5. drafted Maye
6. drafted McCarthy
7. drafted Penix
8. drafted Nix
9. drafted Harrison
10. drafted Nabers
11. drafted Odunze
12. drafted Alt
13. drafted Bowers
Anyone who says that know for sure what Schoen is going to do is lying, either to you or themselves. The only ones who know are at 1925 Giants Dr., East Rutherford, NJ.
I kid.
Then it becomes, if our strategy above doesn't pan out (say we settled on QB at 6 if he is there), then do we stay at 6 and take the WR or move back and accumulate picks?
Right now I think we are looking at:
Maye- JJM for QB's (top 6 range- 6 or move up)
Nabers- Odunze- MHJ- WR's if our QB of choice (or both) are gone.
Outside of that ALT if we trade back some or Turner if we trade back some..
He understands some positions are more important than others.
He locks up the best players at those positions.
He is firm how much he is willing to spend per position.
He hedges his bets.
He seems to know what others will do in draft.
Nein.
1. EVERYONE knows we are taking a QB or WR at 6... its barely an argument so
2. everyone knew we liked barkly but that too was obvious and not a lack of DG being able to hide it. we were picking second...everytone knew barkley was VERY possible.
3. for the most part teams have an understanding/idea of where a team may go with their pick. its common sense in a lot of instances.
4. BBI is very quick to blame a GM for a draft mistake. DG was bad, we get it, but lets not act like everyone else here isnt benefitting from hindsight...you absolutely are.
If not, let the draft come to them at 6. Take Nabers, or Odunze if Nabers is gone.
Bill doesn’t want future considerations, he wants to win NOW. I am pretty confident of that. I suspect Bill wants the most pro ready QB(JJ). I think JJ goes at 2 and ALL hell breaks loose with Maye and Daniels available at 3. I think our guy is gone and we pick a WR or Daniels at 6. Patriots select MHjr at 3.

Daniels at 6 would have me doing cartwheels around the house, biggest yet lowest percentage dream for me.
what's the plan?

I hear where you are coming from, but I disagree re: the Barkley pick. This article from 2018 basically telegraphs not only that the Giants will take Barkley, but also explains why that's really the only option for them.

1. Get a qb you like
2. If not able to take WR at 6 unless you get a crazy trade offer to move down.

And there is nothing wrong as a fan having hindsight. The GM is getting paid to be right - not the fan. If the GM isn't right then have him step aside for someone that will be.

Try to get their QB target, otherwise sit at #6 and grab a blue chip WR.
Is Daniels the consensus best or second best QB, the odds makers flip flop on this every week.

If Daniels, the consensus best or second best QB in the draft falls to get Giants, I will cry tears of a joy.

I think he is and I'd be right there with ya Christian!
