What's the post John Mara succession plan?

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 4/10/2024 7:02 pm
In a group chat text thread with a bunch of cousins who are Patriot fans & one said he thought Robert wants a QB so Jonathan Kraft-who is the presumptive heir to his father-can have a long time QB after Robert-who is in his 80s-is gone. & that got me thinking...who is the presumptive Mara heir? John turns 70 this fall & he's not going to be around forever, though he does have good genes in that both of his folks made it to their 80s.

Is it Chris Mara? The 'nephew', that Tim McDonnell character? Another Mara? I can't ever envision the Maras selling, considering the Giants might as well be a limb to the clan.

The Pats have Jonathan Kraft, Dallas has Stephen Jones...LAL have Jeanie Buss, the Yanks have Hal Steinbrenner, & so forth.

The Giants have their Cousin Greg. His name is Tim.
The Mara's will never sell

Not in this lifetime....
Pretty sure Tim McDonnell is the heir apparent.

How about Kate or Rooney Mara?

Good bloodline's.

It's Tim McDonnell

The succession plan is for McDonnell to step into the same role as John, essentially the spokesman and decisionmaker for the collective Mara interest in the organization.
Tim McDonnell

is Wellington Mara's grandson...

so there ya go...
The only thing that could derail McDonnell
shyster : 4/10/2024 8:18 pm : link
is the Tisches exercising their 50.0% clout. And it is 50.0, not 49.9.

That would likely only happen if the Giants experience consistent continued futility on the playing field, up to the point in time of Tim McD's intended elevation.

And what are the chances of that?

Rhetorical question.

Probably close to zero. What would be more likely is the Tischs insisting the Maras completely divest themselves from personnel (which, while they've taken a step or two back, are still involved).

I know very few about the 'Nephew', but Charlie Weis thinks highly of him.

For all the shit both Chris Mara and Tim McDonnell get, they do seem to be well respected around the league. It's been reported that Belichick and Chris Mara are close.

That's what I was intending to suggest: the Tisches using their 50.0% clout to insist on a revised organizational setup that would insure no Mara family involvement in football personnel decisions.

I haven't really responded to your posts before going after me, but you're obsessed with me. Get some help.

Challenging position with so many family members of which at least a few may see things differently. I could see quite a few "nice" family discussions at family get togethers the last decade.

On a different note, I heard Kraft's son and BB really disliked each other. Have a feeling BB may not have had quite the control some think.
After being called a clown show

The family plans on doubling down and handing the keys to the franchise to Joaquin Phoenix, the fiance of Rooney Mara, who played the Joker. Thus giving in and just letting the franchise be ran by a real clown.
Cheer up

When Kate Mara is running the team, she can at least ACT like she knows what she's doing.

He played a clown. He’s not a real clown. Another half measure.
