Last year only 17 accepted invitations to attend

The list of attendees is getting smaller each year. JJ McCarthy was invited like others, but declined to accept at least so far.

But, but, but, everybody wants to move up to draft JJ!

Surprised Joe Alt didn't accept as I expect he goes in the top 10.

I'm being facetious. JJ won't last past picks 10 to 13, certainly by the Seahawks at #16. But all this JJ talk recently just struck me as a smokescreen. He's not in the tax bracket of the top three (sorry, Jimbo Harbaugh).

But yes, Alt certainly is a top 10 pick. If Chicago doesn't go Nabers or Odunze at #9, they're picking Alt for sure, if he lasts that long.
Wow, only 13 guys? That sucks

Joe Thomas was out fishing when he got drafted top five by the browns.
It’s not just because they don’t want to be shown

waiting. IMO it’s because they’d rather do something fun, be with family, etc. nothing at all looks fun about sitting at the draft all day waiting for it to start, answering questions, waiting on the clock, answering more questions, etc. Going fishing sounds a lot better.
Most players

hate going to the draft. Some only go because there is a sponsorship component involved.

i believe they invited 17 again this year but bowers/alt declined along with jjm.
Don’t blame a lot of these players for not attending.

Who wants to participate in a stupid draft circus that Roger Goodell created?

This makes sense.

The NFL wants the guys there in the room for their show but they just sort of walk on and answer a few questions. Sometimes you get great TV moments when the draftee is with his family. (In the NBA, there was Obi Toppin bursting into tears when he was drafted by the Knicks. Yeah, it didn't work out, but that moment was great.) Or you get Dwayne Haskins shaking his head in disgust when Daniel Jones was drafted ahead of him. That head-shake didn't age well.
The NFL draft just seems like an odd place...
