Chance to lock up at least the 3 seed tonight as they have tie breaker with Cleveland. No Hartenstein tonight. Don't mess around and get off to a fast start and bury the Nets early.
We are winning the next 2 and leaving no doubt. We have a shot at the 2 seed and 50 wins. Thibs will have them fired up for the next 2 games, this is a different team, similar to late 80s/ early 90's Knicks they want to win every time they step on the court.
#LFGK
It's a classic letdown game after beating the Celtics in Boston and Brooklyn isn't coming off a back to back like us and will be treating this like their championship.
I can see the Knicks laying a dud in this one, especially if Brooklyn starts out hot from 3.

The 4 seed can be better than the 2 seed in round 1. The teams at 5, 6, 7, and 8 are all going to be tough but I'd rather play Orlando or Indy than Miami or Philly in round 1.
NY Giants. You agree with an 8 man rotation in the playoffs ? I’d rather have Precious over Bog
Yes 8 man rotation is fine, most of the starters will play 40 minutes a night and Lrecious doesnt fit at the 4 next to Mit h
Brendan Brown was on NBA radio this AM and made a great point. Even if you give Brunson 28-30 points ppg when things slow down in the playoffs, do the math on the rest of the rotation and you have to get to 105 or so to go give the Knicks a really good chance to win. Do the math on the rest of the rotation (I did) and it's not as easy as you think to get to that # without Randle's 20+ ppg. No way you can play Precious over Bogdo. They need his shooting and scoring.
and thats just because of Embiid, he can take over a game with his foul baiting, Knicks have 2 centers who can guard him and i think you can attack him, especially with Brunson going downhill but he could have agame where he gets 20 free throws becuase of Nick Nurse crying all damn game
He seems to sometimes overestimate his own skills -- but to put that another way, he's fearless. Sometimes too fearless for his own good. He often seems lost on defense, and he's not a good defender to begin with, but at least he seems to me to be giving max effort. He seems to understand what he needs to do to contribute. That's not to say that he can always do it, but he understands it.
If you only see the chaotic D and the inevitable turnovers that result when he tries to drive to the basket against bigger, quicker defenders, he looks like a waste of a roster spot. But he's a legit, veteran shooter/scorer. 12-15 points off the bench is important in the playoffs.
Achiuwa has very little offensive game. He seems to have regressed; maybe he's tired since he wasn't used to playing so many minutes. Maybe the league caught up with his tendencies on tape. He might get a few minutes a night in the playoffs when Hart needs a breather. But there had better be shooters on the floor with him— Bogdonovich, DeVincenzo and/or McBride? — or the Knicks aren't going to be able to keep up.
McBride needs to re-find his game.
Burks is the guy I never want to see on the floor again unless the Knicks are up or down by 30. He's basically played himself out of the rotation. Good.
I'm worried about Mitch. He looks rusty to say the least. He's not getting his offensive rebounds. Somebody on here said he looks like he put on weight. Maybe. I don't think he's as disciplined or driven as Randle or Brunson.
Precious is going to have to be used situationally. Those lineups
with Precious and iHart/Mitch are killers for spacing. Last night it seemed like Thibs put Precious in to stick him on Brown after Brown was doing whatever he wanted in the first quarter. I thought that was a savvy move and did seem to slow Brown down

how we never play for the 2-for-1 possession at the end of a quarter?
It depends on the situation, i dont like when a team with 35 seconds just comes down and chucks a 3, if Brunson is hot, sure, but id rather get a good shot
Pacers-Cavs game is big for determining Knicks' first round
Because they would lose a three way tie with Bucks and Cavs.
Ah so playing 2-3 extra games against the Celtics and Bucks because they naively tried hard in a mid season tournament works against them in a tiebreak too. Really well thought out by the nba.
In any event the bulls have less to play for than the Knicks Sunday so hopefully they roll over and play dead and the Knicks end up
With a 2 seed out of all this nonsense

You gave the answer: Knicks will beat Bulls anyway.
Also, the NBA did switch an away game against the Pistons to a home game for the Knicks, and they only won the game by two points, so there was some makeup there.
The Sixers have been bad in the playoffs and let's see if Embid can get through the grind of a series.
If the Knicks,Cavs win and bucks lose they drop to 4 they would have to go through the Celtics in the 2nd round.

Yeah in reality Knicks should be favored in any series, Sixers series scares me because Embiid's foul baiting, he gets the whistle he will zhoot 20 FTs..
But on paper Knicks should be beat the Sixxers, 2 guys who can guard him for 48 and make him work, 3 or 4 guys who can guard Maxxey and make him work and then you can have OG float and help on everything

I think OG would end up guarding Maxxey.
Meh. win Sunday, hopefully get the 2 seed and tee up the playoffs
Get as many home games as we can I don’t care who we play. All I know is outside of Boston nobody in the East wants to play us the most. Thinking back to all those awful seasons when a win like this would piss us off because it would hurt our lottery chances. To have this team that battles like junkyard dogs every night and a guy like Brunson who will most definitely finish top 5 in the MVP voting I’m just gonna enjoy having intense playoff basketball to watch. Don’t give a crap who we face.
even if we catch a bad playoff matchup and lose. The league knows how good we are, and that we’re missing a key piece to the puzzle for this postseason run. We’re closer to a championship now than we were a year ago, and still have the resources to get better. Having a 27-year-old Brunson isn’t much different than a 27-year-old Ewing - we’re gonna be good for a while.
Having said all that, I’ll take my chances with Philly. The Nova guys will love going down there and kicking ass.
and the only thing I think I can add is that Jericho Sims looks just as bad in person as on tv. He just does not box out all the time (I watched that specifically sometimes).
Because they would lose a three way tie with Bucks and Cavs.

Switching a game from road to home doesn’t come remotely close to having had to play the two best teams in the conference one extra time each. Both of those extra games on the road on top of that…
he’s mild-mannered in interviews, but he displayed his feistiness after Cam’s hard foul on JB.
Yup I thought he handled that well. Didn’t overreact or start anything stupid, just got in Thomas’s face for a second and no doubt said don’t take liberties with my guy
When Thomas started running his mouth, OG walked away, as he should have. Knicks are going to playoffs, no reason to get into a fight and get suspended against a team with nothing to lose, but he showed the Knicks will stand up for each other

Exactly. It shouldn’t have been a T because he didn’t bump or use his hands, but I can understand the refs wanting to discourage escalation.
Was completely embarrassing for the Nets. They aren’t playing for anything. They treated this game like it was game 7 of the ECF. What was the purpose of making this game completely unwatchable while they are out there constantly stopping the pace of the game so we can watch free throws? I can understand in an important game, teams using this strategy. But in this scenario? wtf?

Agreed. Credit to Mitch though for at least hitting 4 of the 6. There's a chance we would have made out better than 4 points in the 3 possessions, but credit to him for not making it a disaster.
the drop off in team defense from Hartenstein to Sims and then the bench from Deuce to Burks...Both those guys are going to be very important to this run..
I like what i am seeing from OG, he is letting the game come to him, getting into the flow on the defensive end and then when needed he adds a scoring punch...
Embiid tweaked his knee, he came back and played but he could barely move, do they rest him tomorrow where they might lose and end up in a play in vs Miami OR do they play him in hopes of getting a top 6 seed and then he can rest for a week?

He's a tremendous talent, but man...there's ALWAYS something wrong with him health wise, especially come the spring.
& what a choke job by Denver last night. They can only get the 1 seed with a win tomorrow @ Memphis-probable-but they also need OKC to lose to Dallas at home-unlikely considering Dallas is locked into the 5 seed & will presumably be resting Luka, Kyrie, etc.-& Wolves to lose at home to Phoenix.

Sixers have to be concerned about losing and falling into a tie with Miami, because they would lose the tiebreaker and face having to play the 7-8 game in Miami.
In the likely scenario, with Magic-Bucks the swing game, a Magic win means the Sixers need to win to host the 7-8 game and a Magic loss means the Sixers need a win to get the 6 seed.
Either way, Embid is not ready for the grind of the playoffs and is obviously not in full game shape which causes new injuries.
They have to avoid the play-in games because it could add more games and less rest for Embid.
So you play him and hope to win so he gets some rest?

Because they all feel like they have something to prove against the Knicks. Just like the Celtics, who started resting starters before the Knicks game but trotted out their starting lineup against the Knicks. Only to rest their ENTIRE STARTING LINEUP in their very next game, lol. And then the NJ Nets acting like last nights game actually had playoff implications for them, haha.
It’s funny - “everyone hates the Knicks” and “nobody wants to play for the Knicks” but they all sure as hell make sure to put on their best performance when playing the Knicks, especially at MSG.
Well if the Knicks win and Cavs lose there can be no 3 way tie so yes, they can clinch the 3 seed tonight
It goes Division winner as 1st tiebreak and then Conference record after that which the Knicks have already won from the Cavs.
#LFGK
Back to the Garden with a chance at 50 wins and the 2 seed. I expect very good performances.
Because there is no where to play him
I can see the Knicks laying a dud in this one, especially if Brooklyn starts out hot from 3.

In the event of a three way tie (Knicks, Bucks, Cavs), Cavs win the Central Division because of a better division record than the Bucks.
The Bucks then beat out the Knicks on better winning percentage in all games among the tied teams.
So three way tie at 49-33 means CLE #2, Bucks #3, NYK #4.

I saw this stated somewhere official-ish as well. We do not want a three-way tie.

I think at some point Bogs will have an impact in the playoffs
You almost expected that they’d be a little draining and start slow. They’ll be fine once they break a sweat and get in a groove
So Mitch stays in his normal rotation
Because they are spent coming off a big win they don’t care?
Some nights you just come out flat, it happens. It has nothing to do with them caring out not.

By not even bothering to play Harstein, that told me they don't care. I know he has a minutes resctiction, but come on. That move is so unlike Thibs.
So you’d prefer risk injury and play him beyond recommend minute restrictions?
You could see this performance from the knicks coming from a mile away.
Fortunately he’s not part of the regular rotation anymore. If it weren’t for Duece being sick he wouldn’t be in there now
Of course you can afford both. Half the Celtics roster is making 35 + mill.

My take is that if Pacers lose, Knicks are going to get the Sixers, either as the 2-7 or the 3-6.
Happens all the time in the NBA, especially on back to backs and missing 2 rotation players who are replace by 2 net zeros
Knicks by 4, 5 seconds left. Brunson was fouled on the inbounds after the Nets last basket (bit of a hard shove but not flagrant). Made both.
He didn’t foul - Cam launched himself into Mitch. Just one of many bitch moves that the NBA allows. Along with flopping.
That’s some culture with a capital C right there
Didnt you hear, Marks thinks they can get more superstars there and that they all want to play for the Nets
If all goes to form, the Knicks' seed will be determined by the outcome of the Bucks-Magic game, but the opponent will be the Sixers either way.
If Magic win, they win three-way tie that pushes Sixers to 7th.
If Magic lose, Pacers win the two-way tie that pushes Sixers to 6th.
Will say that the Hawks are good enough to pull an upset and beat the Pacers in Indy. Haven't figured those outcomes.
And, of course, open to correction.
Phili, Cleveland and Indiana are all going to win Sunday
I’m assuming bulls will be resting players and Knicks should win.
In this scenario if Orlando beats Milwaukee, we go to the 2 and phili stays as 7.
If Milwaukee beats Orlando and Knicks stay at 3 and I believe Orlando drops to 7 and sixers up to 6.
Am I missing something

Agreed. Credit to Mitch though for at least hitting 4 of the 6. There's a chance we would have made out better than 4 points in the 3 possessions, but credit to him for not making it a disaster.
I like what i am seeing from OG, he is letting the game come to him, getting into the flow on the defensive end and then when needed he adds a scoring punch...

They have to avoid the play-in games because it could add more games and less rest for Embid.
So you play him and hope to win so he gets some rest?
I can see the Magic playing to win vs Bucks,to avoid the play in game...
