Eric on Li : 4/12/2024 8:13 pm
mets up 3-1 in the 5th.

all 3 runs with 2 outs. bader stole second and nimmo doubled him home. mcneil singled baty home. dj stewart broken bat single alvarez in.

severino looking good against a hot team.

mets hopeful jdm wil do "some movements" tomorrow.
Nothing really to add

Lindor with a hit. I guess that's something...LGM
As Bob Murphy used to say...

Plenty of good seats available....jeez, can't be more than 15K there tonight...

I know it's the Royals, but Friday nights should have half capacity.

Loved Ronnie's comment about Severino's "hall of fame" pitch on the outside corner, knee high..."DeGrom used to throw 50 of those a night."
Baty with another solid game.

He and Alvarez staying hot have helped us weather the miserable start by our stars. Nimmo, Lindor and McNeil finally showing signs of life. Maybe this team will hit this year. Is that asking for too much?
think alot of people thought this game

would get rained out, so low attendance doesn't surprise me.

Lindor got a decent ovation, responded well. Hope fans keep it going for this stretch.

Reed Garret is dirty.

Baty confidence is through the roof.

fun game.

Is playing a lot better. There's a big path to a WC here. It's not the best team but I hate how many fans turned negative right away because of the off-season and slow first 2 series.
I was watching the Knicks game last night, but am very pleased with

another Mets win. Good sign for the future that the two young players in the lineup are hitting consistently.
Probably been discussed elsewhere...

but isn't it a little strange that JD Martinez wasn't staying 100% baseball ready, employing whatever coaches/trainers/baseball academies available?

Just seems like the guy is having to ramp from 0

Very embarrassing and unprofessional for a Boras client commanding big dollars, and not be in game shape.

totally agree, also I've heard multiple writers and talking heads say it might be one of the best "clubhouses" in the majors right now.

As for JD Martinez, and knowing his injury history I'm skeptical and hope this doesn't end up being Jed Lowrie redux.

Last note, I totally forgot that Jeremy Hefner was Wacha's pitching coach in 2020.

i think there is a big difference between anyone being ready for professional sports and anyone being in great shape in the offseason - especially at older ages.

once you go from controlled individual workouts to team workouts, everything is different.

if you are a free agent looking for a big deal you need to decide how hard you push things because the harder you push the more injury risk you are opened up to. look at what happened to conforto a few years ago.

just being honest if it were me id be pretty darn careful to not blow the 10's of millions conforto blew with his shoulder injury. pretty sure 99%+ would agree with that.

if mets wanted JDM to get a full ST they could have bucked up a little to sign him earlier. prorata they are basically paying him $500k per week on the season, they may have saved some money on the top by waiting but they have also cost themselves probably at least 4 weeks worth of production (2m) not having him in camp sooner to get up to speed.

Like JDM won’t be back this week

“ Carlos Mendoza has no update on JD Martinez. He's still not doing activity.”
I don’t believe it’s been discussed yet
CooperDash : 4/13/2024 11:49 am : link
But I thought it was a really nice feel good moment for the fans at the stadium to give Lindor a standing ovation at the beginning of the game last night. I know, I know…. it was done in Philly with Trea Turner. But aside from that it’s nice to see fans picking up a player instead of tearing them down.

We can all get caught up in trashing players that are not productive, certainly myself included. But how much nicer would it be if fans help take the pressure off players by outwardly supporting them. I wish there was more of this in the world.
I really don't enjoy how people have gotten so overreactive
Ten Ton Hammer : 4/13/2024 11:54 am : link
To players who aren't hitting immediately when the season starts. It's so common but fans take it way to far.

Anyone who's seen baseball knows this happens every year and I think fans just use it as an outlet because they're miserable about other things and this is just a vehicle to be toxic.

Getting worked up when there's 130 games left to play is so weird. Especially for people who watch the sport and know how it works.
I can see that I probably get worked up sometimes
CooperDash : 4/13/2024 12:02 pm : link
But here’s the thing - I’m generally indifferent about Lindor and don’t say anything because I know what he’s capable of doing and what he has done and I know that he will pick it up. I’m extremely patient with players like Baty and Vientos. because I see potential and want them to succeed. Where I get nutty sometimes is watching players like Vogelbach or Stewart or Scott in the lineup when they shouldn’t be. But that’s more of an issue with management than the actual player.
