Says he had him pegged as a 3rd or 4th rounder when he found out JJM was coming out as a junior and talks about how he changed his mind. Phil Simms with Ross Tucker - ( New Window )
Well according to GiantGrit we would pick Odunze over JJM at 6 and he is NOT on the table at pick 6. That would be a big relief to a lot of folks here!
McCarthy is better than you think when you really break down the tape and peel back the curtain.
I feel better and better about my projection I put out there in February every week.
The question that still lingers for me is if JJM is that good then why didn’t Harbaugh open it up more?
Because he didn’t have to. They went undefeated playing a conservative style of ball. If you can just run the ball down the other teams throat every week why not do it?

Reminds me of a motor racing axiom "drive just slow enough to win"

Controlling the clock with the approach Harbaufh took via a great defense and run blocking offensive line (which wasn't very good passblocking) seemed like a pretty good strategy to me, undefeated with a Natty afterall.

Was it Woody Hayes who said, “3 things can happen when you throw the ball, and 2 of them are bad.”? Why throw when you’re running the ball down people’s throats?
I’m still on the fence with JJM, but there are people whose opinions I respect (like Sy) who think he’s the real deal. If he’s the Giants pick, I’m all on board.

I always thought Woody left one out ... Pass interference. So that would even it up.
Is being balanced, especially when 2 very talented teams play each other. If you can stay balanced on offense you can win. How many times do you see a team come out passing 3 straight downs and end up having to punt and now you waste a possession and give the ball to the other offense.
I love a power run game, play action passing and 12 personnel, with a great attacking defense and stellar special teams. To me, these types of philosophies will never get old.
Harbaugh prepared JJ for being a pro IMO. I would be very happy if we stayed at 6 and he was the pick.

What? He won the national championship…seems to me the strategy worked ok…

Same with the 49ers when he was HC there.

Um, he won a National Championship. Why would he change what he was doing?

They had the running game and D to win they way they did. You play to win the game, nit get the QB stats
