Judging by 30 visits and how they've conducted pre-draft business, it's pretty clear that #NYGiants are covering themselves if board doesn't fall their way and someone comes with a Godfather offer to move back.
I'm on record saying I wouldn't, but Joe Schoen staying flexible

the only way i see it is if they have an elite grade on a few guys we aren't expecting - like terrion arnold/quinyon mitchell or more than 1 OL, or more than 4 QBs, or a pass rusher.
i dont see them trading back outside whatever their equivalent of "we have 6 guys we are hoping for 2 at 5/7". like rico said i think they've just shown too much specificity in who they target both years.
this is a strong top of draft though so it could be 10, 11 or 12. if they like all 7 qbs/wrs that's only alt and a few other players.
It seems obvious to me Schoen and Daboll are aware how fast things in this league change and you can go from hero to zero in a year's time. I think Schoen is pissed and is ready to be bold.
1) There are tooooo many needs on this team and we are likely too far away to nab one of the qbs they really like at 6. The worst of all worlds is is they reach again at 6 at a not special qb due to need. If they can trade up to get their #1 guy fine, but i don't see it as probable in the least, given the needs of other teams.
2)as an aside, in a draft that is this deep with good Wrs and OL (2 positions of need) one could argue the best strategy is to drop just low enough to still pick one of the better rated ones on their board whilst being able to shore up other positions. One could argue that bad on availability it is wise to first pick the best at positions that are less deep in talent (e.g. corner, DT, edge) and then area the other ones as long as you are not too far behind to do so.
So: Is making plans when you have no control of events
If the Giants season is once again over before Halloween and there is no real hope in a rookie QB on this roster (1 of these 6) the blowback from fans & media will be unlike any we have ever seen here
trading down, and given the right circumstances, I’d be all for it.
I believe this is exactly what he’s going to say. His recent posts seem to have him skeptical that any of the top 3 QBs are falling and there is very little chance of moving up
I've said, I'm generally not a fan of trading down out of a top 10 pick. That is even more true this year since we might get on of the "big four" QBs at #6, and can definitely get one of the "big three" WRs, at #6. But I do agree the Giants should listen to offers and I could see it happening. My sense though is that they would much prefer to move up for Maye or stand pat, in that order, before trading down.
But also one of the top 5 or 6 receivers, that would probably work with a trade down (extra picks, draft Penix mid 1st and WR early 2nd) easier than it would a trade up (draft nabers/odunze than try to trade back into mid-late 1st)...a trade down also would potentially provide extra picks later on. Trade down, depending on how the first 5 picks go, I think is a real possibility

My prediction: Eric will recommend taking Penix with the 6th overall pick.
really going out on a limb there predicting what you say will piss off a lot of BBI posters. We all know that WHATEVER you say will piss off a lot of BBI posters ... except me of course.

Good point. BTJ and Penix maybe? Or Penix and Adonai Mitchell or Troy Franklin maybe?
You better care how they make the sausage….without casing you got mush! So, they can the best ingredients but without the stuff that holds it together it’s not sausage…=OL is my casing to successfully making sausage.. grill on!🤞
The visits don’t make them any more or less likely to trade out of the sixth spot. It’s all due diligence. Trades always sound great, but the deal has to fall into place. Can’t force another team to trade.
Trade back far enough to still get Nix or Penix and land that 2nd

Ok, popular take here lately and one that means fuck all. What are the Giants supposed to do? Force the pick?
Every team is under pressure. You draft talent. Not positions. Maybe if the Giants can field a roster with more good than bad, maybe they can compete through a season despite the QB not being up to the standards of some. It's happened before, more than you think.
You don't draft to avoid a fan meltdown. You draft talent. You can't reach.
the worst case scenario is not landing a good or great player in this draft, notably at 6. Actually that is the 2nd worst. The very worst case scenario is drafting the wrong QB within the first 2 rounds and losing with that failed QB over the next 2-3 seasons.
What does that mean?
They have 1 pick in the 1st round, so how much movin and shaking can they do?
Don't try to get cute, grab the BPA at 6 which should be of the top 3 wides and focus on building this roster,...unless Maye or Daniels somehow falls to 6.

It’ll be cutting jones

Totally agree. Don't move. Don't shake. Take Penix a six and WR in second round and get to work >

Truth. I hope Eric is going strong on Qb. Love Malik Nabors, but it is easier to get a WR 1 lower (say 2025) than Qb. I say stay at 6 and take Penix.

It's looking like there might be 14-15 wrs taken in the top 50. We could have slim pickings at 47

Would rather risk that than losing Penix trading down

Above all else, you need to get this pick right.
