In what has already been a grim week in Yankee baseball, Ken Holtzman has passed away. His exploits as a Yankee were minor in the late 70's, but prior to that he was an important part of the Oakland A's dynasty in the early 70's, along with Catfish Hunter.
The less said about his Yankee tenure the better. Had a lot of innings on his arm by then.
RIP
Wrong. Billy Ball in Oakland didn't start until 1980. Dick Williams and Alvin Dark were they managers for the 1972-1974 A's WS champions. Holtzman pitched for Cubs before the A's and was excellent for both teams. Worked fast, threw strikes.
Only modern guy. Two guys did it in the first quarter of the 20th century.
RIP.
Steve "Hey Lou I just won you the pennant" Trout.
But if only George were still alive.......... :-)
RIP.
As a Yankee fan, I didn't want to even mention that trade. One of the worst in our history. Bad enough to get taken but to help a division rival like that, just awful.
