Does this look like the face of someone whom feels confident in his job security?
Many here were speculating Daniel Jones speaking to media was Mara's way of easing fans into the 2024 season with DJ, a new and improved offensive line and an elite WR prospect. This face makes me feel like Daniel is extremely insecure about his position as QB of the future for the NYG.
110% correct, this place is so QB centric, how much better can DJ be if he had a RT that was not a shopping cart? I really hope we traft Alt, that is the best thing for this team, Daniel Jones is not our problem.
For the love of God Joe Schoen, please have the compassion to cut this kid as soon as he is healthy so he doesn't have to embarrass himself or this franchise ever again.

I'm not a believer in Jones, but even I have to admit this is harsh. 😂
That’s the internet. Post a pic of anyone famous looking like that and you are going to get the same responses no matter how good or bad they are at their jobs.
& it wouldn't shock me in the least if he wanted to get out of NY & start elsewhere.
Again, I think its best for both sides that once he can pass a physical...we go our separate ways.
Lol this. Twitter absolute cesspool

Does it mean much?
Probably not.
Agreed, I laughed out loud at the face though. I can see the young Jim Carey comparisons.
Holy eff Batman. You can get a still out of a video that makes anyone look silly.
Truly pathetic take by people.

DJ has a lot to prove and the jury is out on him still but this comment is out of line.
The Giants clearly failed Jones yesterday
We did everything we can to ruin the kid.
I do think all this has gotten to him. How could it not? Even if he is able to block out all the media, he still sees Mara saying if Schoen loves a QB he can go get him. This all coming just 1 year after he was slated as the future of the franchise and winner of our first playoff game in about a decade. Then it all comes crashing down 1 year later.
How could he not feel stressed, anxious and ambivalent about his future? Then you consider the fact that he might have concerns about his neck deep down and he's still recovering from a torn ACL. There's a lot going on behind those eyes, I guarantee it.
If he did have part of his thyroid removed before the 2022 season, this very well could have been the reason.
Yup. I totally get it too - he knows this is a really perilous time for him with so much at stake - physically, medically, roster wise and even financially farther down line.
Anybody who doesn't see anything off with his physical behavior in these videos is just being disingenous.

Here is the thing he is set financially if he never plays another down and is well spoken and likable ie a broadcasting job is to had somewhere for some extra income post football. Injuries happen in football rehab and do the best he can do it'll all fall into place. It is all on his mind but he has shown to be an evenly balance guy rehabbing an injury and fighting for his spot is not new to him. Like he said he took advice from 2 guys that rehabbed the injury successfully. He'll be fine. Anyone would have considered all the potential outcomes negative and positive at some point. Why are people acting like that is isolated to him as a person??? We have seem players and coaches actually spazz out ... so if this is bad then we really need to be on Daboll's back for his interview and interpersonal communication tactics ...

Anxiously touching his face was what made me wonder. And then this just didn't seem right. I feel for the guy, I really do. I know he's a 100 million dollar man and all, but that's not fulfilling his childhood dream of being a top NFL QB.

I don't think anyone said it was bad, just clear to many here that he's got a lot on his mind and in no way is he the definitive future QB of the franchise like he was last year. It's a bit if a Rollercoaster ride for him in the past year.
If the Giants have told him anything about their draft intentions, then they’re even dumber than I thought.
The infamous photos of Eli (when he first struggled) - of him looking "tipsy" (inebriated).
Or YA Tittle steaming blood from his head, or Frank Gifford laying unconscious on the ground with Chuck Bednarik standing and celebrating over him.
Is it a love-hate manifestation of how some Giants fans feel about the players, I'll never understand.
DJ did not develop the skills needed to be a great NFL QB.
However, there is a part of me that would not mind having to suffer a little more time just knowing that you will be suffering even more because I think you deserve it.
So thank you, this draft is now a Win/Win for me.
Are you kidding with this?

I'll always be rooting for DJ. This has nothing to do with that.
Eric should run a test on this. Make a pinned DJ only thread from now through the draft and I bet it’ll have a ton of traffic the first day or two and then fizzle out by the weekend.

So now they're even analyzing the look on his face. Unbelievable!! I don't think he's worried about anything. IMO, the Giants have kept him fully informed, told him he's #1 and any QB selection will be precautionary and a future project.
Are you kidding with this?
I've been listening to JS and BD tell all he is the starter a number of times. I know many on this board disregard that as draft strategy, but I don't think so. It's seems obvious to me that they do have confidence in him and want to surround him with some help. Of course, health issues could change things. My opinion.
It's easiest to just blame Jones for the team's failure, and this also makes the Giants easiest to fix. Just replace Jones.
Forget about 2022 and just give his 2023 teammates a bit of blame and we're almost ready to roll replacing Jones.
Next year will probably be his last, due to injuries and shell shock as much as lack of talent. Simms says he's certain Jones has the talent, and Mel Keiper said he's shown flashes of brilliance. You are probably right, but have not been fair to the guy.
No.
Yep, you got that correct.
I love the giants, I have a giants tattoo, was raised a Giants fan and saw them win 4 Super Bowls. 1 in every decade that I have been alive. So I would prefer they win another before 2030. But overall, pretty awesome compared to a lot of fans who have never seen such success.
I will pretty much stick up for any player on my favorite team who seems to put effort in and handle themselves or their situations with grace.
So I guess that answers your other question on why.
DJ's play did not elevate his surroundings enough to be successful and that sucks. I do think given his play and the Giants current situation it would be great to move on.
But I sit here and watch a kid who worked his ass off to get where he is, not given the best situation for a multitude of reasons. But I have seen a lot of QBs take a situation like this a lot worse than looking unconformable or having the appearance of bug eyes on a Zoom call when being asked questions, he being a lot more gracious than I would probably be, and good for him.
I just think DJ takes a lot more shit from this board than is deserved which makes feel like I should stick up for him more than I even prefer to if I only based my opinion on what he does between the lines of the field.
Ultimately I guess I feel worse for DJ than I do for some shmuck behind a the power of a keyboard and I am ok with that.
In perfect worked I hope this plays out with, the Giants draft a QB, DJ decides its best to waive his injury clause so he can get some games, looks better an expected, Giants get to move and get a comp pick and DJ finds some success with another team and everyone wins.
I just do see the need to constantly bash a player or his demeanor just because my team has lost games. I think that is what shitty fans do and every fan base has some shitty fans. Just because someone is a Giants fan it does not mean they are a good person.
Can I sacrifice some my happiness for the unhappiness of shitty people?
Sure why not. All of it is just temporary.

Again, check out the reactions of non-Giants fans who have no skin in the game. They all noticed.
People are stupid and on social media it's amped up to even higher degrees of stupid.
This thread breaks new ground.

I agree 100% on this, because I say that in almost all of posts on the DJ topic. I dont think DJ is awesome, but I also dont think he is trash so I find myself defending him more that I would if it wasnt so constant.

The Giants have scouted everything resembling a QB from coast-to-coast for 6+ months. Attending colleges to scout the top 6 or so guys, combine interviews, dinners, Pro Days, private throwing sessions (on Easter no less), 30 visits, and multiple rumors from every sports media outlet and NFL analyst in the business that Schoen has inquired about wanting to move up from #6.
They may not get a QB they want in this draft but I can assure it's not because the have confidence in Daniel Jones.
There’s a lot of guys on this team who work hard and are nice. None get the excuses and apologizes like #8.

You don't have to feel bad for Jones. He got $100M. Not bad return for being subpar at your profession, and a lot more than the *schmucks* (as you call them) some who may legitimately worry about how to afford food and rent. I feel more for us fans than I do for a professional athlete who is set for life.
There’s a lot of guys on this team who work hard and are nice. None get the excuses and apologizes like #8.
He isn't that good compared to what?
AND he doesn't stop you from drafting a QB.
So why is he getting shit again?
If a player is playing like shit I don't shit on the player, I shit on the staff who has them playing.
Now if that player is like Kadarius Toney who won't learn the playbook, then shit on him all you want.

He takes shit because he isn’t that good. None of it is personal, as least from my end. Yeah, he seems like a great guy and teammate who works his ass off. That’s all great. I’m just more interested in a better QB instead of spinning our wheels with Jones for a sixth season because he is nice and works hard. Call me crazy.

If a player is constantly playing like trash they deserve the boos and to be crapped on by fans. Jones is roughly equal to Joey Gallo in my mind, except he's taking up space at a vastly more important position on the Giants than Gallo did on the Yankees.
QB flops ? Remember how the Lion's infamous GM, Matt Millan. He stumbled into the the same "bear trap" FOUR times, picking wide receivers, who's collective production was average, at the very best.
The seeming "franchise QB" obsession is concerning to me. One "savior" can't drag the "dead albatross" of this team's lack of foundational talent around his neck, for long.
Armed with a #6 overall, with a trade-down, I'm sure there's enouch trade calital to pick up a top-10 AND a high 2nd round pick. (That would certainly ease the pain of giving up the trdae picks that it cost to get Burns)

I think you and I have a different definition of trash. If Daniel Jones is trash then what was Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm. Or are you defining trash based on how much it cost, even though Daniel Jones did not buy himself?
I didn't boo Kenny Golladay. I was mad at DG.

Exactly right. Except the Yankees were smart enough to recognize the problem and find another team on which to foist Joey. Imagine Cashman instead keeping Gallo and establishing a culture of apologetic victimhood for him and instead blaming and scapegoating Torres, Stanton and Judge for Gallo's putrid play? That's what have had now for five years with DJ.

Glennon and Fromm were dumpster fires
I mean you cannot dump the atrocious offense all on Jones. There is plenty of blame to go around.
And if we draft a qb and we still have not fixed all the other problems on our offense then we will be looking for another qb in a few short years.
