Video: Justin Pugh plays NYG GM for a day

FranknWeezer : 4/16/2024 2:50 pm
Like or dislike the guy, thought this was interesting b/c of the inside slant.

Thoughts on what to do with DJ.
Some restructures.
A trade proposal (swap of picks) for a vet skill position player...to trade and re-engineer his contract and re-sign him long-term.
And a group of players he would like to see us draft.

Also mentions he wants to be brought back as a "glue guy" on the OL.
Link - ( New Window )
He can't be any worse as a GM.....
MOOPS : 4/16/2024 2:56 pm : link
than he is as an OL.

I might be in the minority, but I find this guy to be absolutely insufferable…something I bet a lot of you think about me too, Haha.
“Glue guy”
eric2425ny : 4/16/2024 2:58 pm : link
Maybe he’s referring to sniffing glue because I don’t see him helping our line at all.
First player ever

To give himself a contract and to induct himself into the Ring of honor in the same day.

You're definitely not alone. I'd like to hear what the guys on the Giants roster think of him referring to himself as a "glue guy."
can't this asshole just go away?

"Well, the first thing I would do is re-sign myself to a multi-year, record breaking contract."
Not bad insight
MNP70 : 4/16/2024 3:13 pm : link
from someone that has current NFL knowledge. Does anyone really care if he's overbearing? If he's smart and makes sense, it's worth a listen.
I stopped watching
Doubledeuce22 : 4/16/2024 3:19 pm : link
After he proposed the Giants trade 6 for 31, Aiyuk, and a 3rd. No thank you. Love Aiyuk but no chance they’re giving up 6 in any capacity to get a WR that needs to be paid unless it was Jefferson and I don’t know if I do that either.

He sure does like to hear the sound of his opinions.
I would really like to see
Dankbeerman : 4/16/2024 3:51 pm : link
his scouting reports on some of the "unlockable" DT's he went up against.

Yeah that one lost me. Also not sure how you call Jones and tell him he is your guy, and then still possibly select a QB in the first round.

You are my guy, until this guy is my guy!
I'm glad he got a rebirth last year

Bu those 15 mins are over
No thank you

Disappointed in myself after watching that now too.
the 6th pick
Y28 : 4/16/2024 4:37 pm : link
in the draft this year will get a 4 yr contract worth $28.5 million.

Why would you make a trade and have a $110 million dollar contract with a $30 million signing bonus?

You need a great # 1 receiver? Just use your CAP money wisely and draft one of the top 3.

His trade proposal is terrible.

I met him
Pete in MD : 4/16/2024 4:51 pm : link
once. He was a super nice person. He was like someone you would BS with at an airport bar or a similar place. Ok in my book.

Was just coming to write this.

As an aside, i have nothing against pugh. Think he was pretty good all around and this is not an ad hominem attack but that is a really foolish trade
Thank you!!

Justin get it! Love his overall plan. I've been saying this forever. Why can't the Giants continue doing what made them so successful back then? Build the trenches, Dline and Oline. I don;t think giving draft capitol is the smart thing to do here. I would possible trade down in the draft and draft a huge need at CB. Terrion Arnold. Or maybe even Latu or Olinmen. Many options that can help improve the Giants overall.
Frankn, I think you're the only one who knows what this means:

Yeah, sure...if that glue is the tub of paste that schools used to use
Matt M. : 4/17/2024 3:24 am : link
and dries up about 10 minutes after you use it, rendering it useless.

He has no value, even as depth on a good team. I wish he would just STFU and retire. Better yet, I wish an NFC East team sign him and start him.

Schoen’s FA moves address the line and they can use their existing picks to take players on the OL & DL for depth if the value is there. But they aren’t wining with Daniel Jones.

Pugh may be a nice guy but he has as much credibility on his plan as an armchair QB. He needs to go away already.
Would Joe Schoen & Brian Daboll
M.S. : 4/17/2024 9:08 am : link

Bring this guy back now that he has shown himself to be the “ smartest” person in the room?
I really respect how he's been building a foundation
GiantSteps : 4/17/2024 9:26 am : link
for whatever comes next after his time on the field. I know it's kind of beside the point of the thread, but I see a guy who's using the opportunities he's been given in a cool way.

And personally, I'm in the "don't blow draft capital to trade up for a QB this year" club, so I find his approach-at the very least-interesting. I would not hate it if we got Aiyuk and a decent lineman out of the deal (I'm hoping we land Odunze if we stay at 6).
