My memories of them (even though I lived in Texas back then ....
* A friend of mine, attended an AFL Dallas Texans vs Titans game and came way with a game ball, which used to play street ball with.
* Sammy Baugh was the Titans coach, left Hardin-Simmons University, (in Texas) in 1960 to coach the Titans. 1966 was my freshman year at Hardin-Simmons.
* Sammy, took his college QB with him to the Titans (a guy by the funny nick-name "Hayseed Stevens")
* The Titans' actually made a TV car commercial. The QB throwing passes through the sliding back window on a Ford Edsel.
I wish I could have met him, he was a legendary NFL player. Years later, several of his old college players returned to Hardin-Simmons; (by then football was cancelled for a while).
(These guys had volunteered to go to serve in Vietnam). They all wore their old football jackets, proudly. The most famous of these football players was actor Dan Blocker (who I don't think served in the military).
