Chance for this defense to be a top notch one.
Except four of the QBs may go before the Giants pick. And the next two may go when Denver and the Raiders pick.
An unusual draft year where the top three picks are all held by QB needy teams, and the 5th pick is likely traded to a QB needy team.
It is so tempting to me to try to stockpile picks and then address defensive tackle and cornerback in the first round.
What’s dumb would be to waste a non 1st round pick on a QB. If QB isn’t taken in the top 6 this is absolutely the route that I hope they take.

could actually sell me on a multiple trade downs and taking Newton in round one.

I've thought about this exact scenario.
Long story short, Giants have needs on offense and defense and they can't address them all.

I can't fault them for drafting QB or receiver at 6, but if you can maneuver around the first rond and nab (say) Jer'Zhan Newton and Quinyon Mitchell in the first round you have the foundations of an *elite*, young defense. Then you're just all in on offense in later rounds in the deep WR class and stockpiling 2025 picks to get your QB next year.
Again, it's tempting.

In a deep QB draft, we don't take one??? dumb dumb dumb

The PFF Draft isn't awful - but it is a "last resort."
The Giants could also look to make a small trade back IF IF they can find a partner. Trade back but ahead of the teams looking for a QB- just to move very few spots back?
***If no starting caliber QB is taken this year and next year the QB class is thought to be very weak, then you are going to have to try to build your team from the Trenches.
Because our QB will not be good then you are going to need an OL that gives the QB extra time to get the ball to the elite WR (which they would draft).
Therefore after drafting a WR, then a DT then a CB-- then get another OL instead of rd 5 go after one or trade up a bit from rd 4if need be. A sub-par QB needs a continually god OL and it seems the Giants QB situation would need more help.
TOO MANY posts I see and of mocks looking to push a RB? For what purpose if we are in rebuilding mode this year?
