-The Mets have won their last 5 games in a row and are 8-2 in their 10 games; they've also won 5 of their last 6 games in L.A. in Dodger Stadium.
-The Mets made 3 roster moves today:
(1) they placed C Francisco Alvarez on the 15-day injured list with a left thumb sprain; (2) designated LHP Kolton Ingram for assignment; & (3) selected the contract of C Tomás Nido from Syracuse.

-The Mets' 4-man bench for tonight's game will consist of
Nido (R), Taylor (R), Short (R), & Baty (L).
hes clearly lost a lot of athleticism but thankfully he can still swing the bat.
He was hurt so much of last season. If he's bad this year I'll call it but I still think he can bring it.
rosario wasnt signing to be a backup. he turned down bigger offers elsewhere to start (which is what he's doing in tampa, mostly in the OF).
slaten definitely looks like a missed opportunity. dont know why they didnt like him but also hard to argue their general decisions in the bp. garrett has been lights out and they have a sub-2 bp era. even some of the guys they didnt have room for have been good for other teams (adams).
i dont think they put him back out there already at 20 pitches.
outman, pages, lux up so maybe. he could over power those 3 and then you just dont pitch him tomorrow.
they are just cycling the bottom of the pen. those guys are all going to be waiver fodder types whether its tonkin, ramirez, whoever.
by cycling that spot with waivable players you get more fresh pitchers up - like they probably will tomorrow after they waive tonkin again.
think that's probably right. garrett threw a lot of pitches yesterday, figured he wasnt available. guess they figure may as well let him go while he's confident/hot.
This plate ump is atrocious
Hope he keeps it up.
now won 5 straight series all against winning teams.
hard to imagine a better start for mendoze even down to the showing the knock back after having started so disastrously.

Francisco Alvarez has a torn ligament in the thumb and will have surgery. Carlos Mendoza said unsure of timetable, but confidence he will return this year.
good thing they held on to narvaez and nido.

Yikes, that escalated quickly. Couple of hours ago it was just a sprain.
Get well soon, stud. The spot behind Home plate will be waiting for you.
+1
Immediately post All Star Break would be dandy indeed.
Bath didn’t have to catch 90-100 MPH pitches with it all night tho.
Already mentioned several times in the thread.
Wouldn't worry about it too much. Senga isn't even eligible to return for 5 more weeks, Butto can solidify his spot (or lose it) over that time.
It's tougher with JDM returning but they should try and sprinkle in DH starts for Marte, both for his health and also his defensive limitations. The DH starts that were earmarked for Alvarez at minimum
bullpen has to be taxed and I don't think they DFA anyone again.. Need Houser to bring it all today.
Ugh, I dont think I'm ready to say goodbye to Marte at the deadline.

Would not be surprised to see Tonkin DFA'ed a second time for SRF.

same - marte so far is hitting better than 2022. the defensive/athletic limitations continue, but if he keeps hitting like he has that may even be a worthy tradeoff since they have taylor/stewart who can play. plus gilbert on the way. honestly may be less worried about marte than jdm right now:
+4 mph on avg ev.
almost 150% improvement in hh% and barrel%.
chasing a lot less too.
sammon says 6-8 weeks for alvarez, id sign for 10 and ASB right now.

Tyrone Taylor. He's been a secret weapon.

i think part of yesterday was probably knowing they have someone to cycle today, though bp should be in decent shape.
raley/diekman/otto got yesterday off.
diaz/lopez should be ok for today.
so maybe they save a move and throw tonkin again if its a blowout wrong way.

The way he's playing, they're not trading him. No way. The best case scenario is unfolding: he has two years left on his contract, including this year, and will most likely be here for both. Ryan Clifford--who's killing it at High A Brooklyn btw--will probably be ready to take his roster spot by 2026 when he's gone.
maybe get JV back from Houston if they go in tank lol.
entirely possible. the best service of that last bp spot is making sure you have someone to protect the rest of the pen. operation human shield.

Smith could probably give 1 inning max if needed or as a righty option if you needed Raley against the lefties but then someone was on after 3 batters and you wanted to turn to a righty. The only one not available today appears to be Reed Garrett.
has to be tonkin but maybe after today's game?
dont see any other obvious move unless someone else is injured.

Wouldn’t it be putting Alverez on DL?
