I figured I'd throw in a couple suggestions on perspective. You can take it or leave it, I'm not telling you how to think.
For starters, it may not hurt to try to remember that the people on this board are Giants fans too. We may not all endorse the same methods, but on game day, we’re all rooting for the same outcome. It wouldn’t hurt to remember that the next time you have a mind to call someone an idiot or a moron.
And to that... something else to consider. While hyperbole and absolutism are fine ways to get your point across emotionally, such arguments do tend to lack intellectually. It is easier to appeal to emotion than to intellect, so if that’s your intent, have at it, I guess. But if you’ve done any sports betting or ever participated in a sports pool, you already know that your ability to forecast and predict outcome isn’t nearly as good as you believe it is. Whether you admit it or not. Drafting, evaluating players, and building a team isn’t as easy as we like to believe sitting on our couches, and the people making the decisions aren't idiots --regardless of what you may say-- and they also have access to much more information than we do. Their decisions may very well prove to be the wrong ones, but they do have their reasons.
Lastly, one tendency I have noticed with this team over the years is that they are often most disappointing when expectations are high, while they have also shown --at times-- to be at their best when expectations are low. Unpopular does not equate to bad.
This is just something to consider the next time you find yourself contemplating an over reaction to some report or throwing the remote after a pick. This team is going to get a lot more talented on Thursday, no matter what direction they decide to go in. Maybe try to take some solace in that, even if it's not the direction you wanted for them.
Nabers/MHJ/Odunze = team is better
Alt/Fuaga = team is better
Mitchell/Arnold = team is better
Maye/JJM = who the hell knows...
I for one, have never advocated sniffing glue...but this week may require me to change my mind!

So the first poster response is to ignore the OP completely.

Didn't ignore what he stated. I was overreacting.
We won 9 games in 2022 with a roster that I think is inferior this years potential roster (not even counting the draft yet). Our Oline has been solidified (I don't mean is great, just solid guys who can play many downs of football at an adequate and acceptable rate) and our WR's (though thin and young) have potential for making plays with Slayton, Hyatt, WDR and some Vet additions. QB is no worse off than 2022 and could be serviceable with Lock taking over from Jones or Jones could play to his 2022 level- not my first choice of course.
Defensively we have two young pass rushers, a stud DLmen, high quality LB leader, young CB with lots of potential, decent safeties (maybe a vet added soon) .. I mean this team with all of its major faults and shortcomings won 6 games last year.
We need to get back to consistency in play which will keep us in games and allow us to start building forward.
I want a QB in this draft (and two choices for are Maye and JJM but I am not going to off the deep end if that doesn't happen. This team just needs to start getting better and being stable..
I try to justify the selection, as they know more about the players than me and any of the talking heads.
Although, we are emotionally tied to tram. Getting the team better is actually more important for the coaches and Giants mgt...as it's their jobs at risk
Trading down or up...takes two to tango....it just doesn't happen like all these draft simulators.
I know the same lunatic screaming ..are the same ones calling for Josh Rosen....but now claiming they wanted Josh Allen.
All I know is if you manage any business (or investment portfolio) with that mentality then odds are over the long term you won't have much of a business. We glorify the "HR swings that hit" but have memory-loss for the vast majority that don't. If JS loves one of these QBs then go get 'em but my vote (which means jack shit) is to fortify the team before we ruin another QB behind poor OL play and lack of weapons.

I watched the Allen draft with my buddy who is a bills fan. He lost his mind when they picked Allen over Rosen. Literally inconsolable. I remind him of this every year. We all really know nothing.
But one thing I keep saying is we need to come out of this draft with a high pick at QB. However they figure that out, it needs to be done. We cannot go into the season with this QB room. If you don't have a QB that can stand toe to toe with Maholmes/borrow/Allen, you are never winning a championship.

If Mahomes was on this team as is, he would win maybe 9 games. And any QB they pick that is available, will more than likely be riding pine for most of 2024. So Mahomes, Burrow and Allen won't need to sweat it this year.
Teams win titles. It is much easier to win if you have a top 5 QB, but drafting a QB can never be "Needs to be elite or dump him." You can win with a good QB if you have a very good team. The problem right now is that the Giants have neither a good QB or a very good team.
In general, I would agree with that. However, where I do disagree is relative to where you are drafting him. If we were picking, say 23rd, it would be a different story. Those picks come anytime. It's a different matter, IMO, when you have the ability to select from virtually any non-QB in the draft. The bar should raise or lower relative to draft position, as with any position.

This is a good point. Most of the QBs that have made it did so because they were on a team where they could develop.
I don't know if we have such a team yet. The roster is awful.
I can't stop it even if I wanted to and didn't like what I am hearing.
I have done enough research to have my own opinions and now I just want to rip the band-aid off and see what we get.
If we get a QB, no matter who it is, I hope they are good.
If we dont, I hope their plan works out and the players we do get are great.
But at this point, I dont think I care about any more hypotheticals or beliefs/leaks. Unless there is real news, like an actual trade before Thursday its just anyone's guess as good as mine.
Draft can not get here soon enough.
believe this was the draft they took andrew thomas first mckinney second, how would you grade that?
I agree we need a QB, but we need to make the right decision. If we reach for a QB at 6, aren't we doing the same thing that got us here in the first place?
"they are just rookies"
"why give out grades before they play a down"
"________ fell for a reason"
etc.
there's obviously truth in some of these common phrases, but they are also meaningless in the context of the draft. every player taken is a rookie. we have seen over time some fall for unknown or irrelevant reasons. some fall despite insane gifts like dk metcalf and tyriq woolen. some without insane gifts fall and still end up performing like puka or kyren williams. many consensus wisdom picks (like Neal) still fail.
how good selections will be compared to other selections nobody can predict but it's pretty undeniable every team is better after the draft than before it. everyone is adding a bunch of players they like. nobody is subtracting from their team (unless they trade a veteran). that is why hope springs eternal.
and why not when teams like houston, detroit, and LAR literally set up their winning seasons on draft night last year?
the NFL draft is perhaps the most fair playing field advancement opportunity in all of sports. make good enough decisions and you can totally change the outcome of your team's season or decade.

There is another view from behind where you can see DG's computer screen has the CBSsports.com Mock Draft #10 page opened. And it shows Thomas as the first OT being taken and McKinney as the first Safety off the board too.
So after plenty of hiccups, he changed up his draft process and it was sound that offseason.
Or cheese-makers.

In all seriousness Uber, Good post.
LOL did you even read the OP's post?
You're exactly the person that makes this board suck most of the time. Your back and white statements are just absurd.
So if the Giants get a QB and he sucks, is that a great draft? Suppose we grab the next Jerry Rice and 4 years from now all of these drafted QBs suck? Still a fail?
It's ok to hear other perspective bruh.

I think calling someone a prick also falls into that, n'est ce pas?

You clearly don’t understand sarcasm. You are also very angry for no reason. Go take a gummy or something. Jease.

Yeah, it's the qb issue and where we are that bothers me. Every one of those guys mentioned would be HUGE upgrades for our team. I know i don't know anything but i don't think we have the capital to gamble given the dirty state of the team.

I seriously doubt that but enjoyed the post overall.

The Giants haven't had a good QB since Eli last went to the playoffs. You can't win anything with backup level play, and that's what we have endured for 8 years.
