My god his daily referendums on Wilson, or any other matter, I can’t take it. Many a day I try to listen, especially today when the ny sports scene is ablaze, and I last minutes before I beg Alexa to change to Sirius.
RE: Pick swap AND Jets have to Pay some of his salary
A team can actually admit a mistake and move on sooner than 6 years.
If you pretend 2022 didn’t happen, and that Wilson also had his version of 2022, this would make sense. I want Jones gone, but you have to acknowledge what happened.
I’d give Johnson credit if he moved on after year 2 but he didn’t. Wilson was and is and infinitely worse player.
to the fact that he's a bad player). Wilson's play style has similarities to Russ's
denvers view is that its a throwaway trade - they gave up nothing and it's an option. had 0 impact on draft.
I didn't say anything about the draft. It just strikes me as an odd flier to take when there were other similar ones available this offseason that would've seemed to fit better
NY is too big for a lot of people, it’s even bigger when you go to a dysfunctional franchise. A fresh start in a more forgiving place with a much better coach is pretty much best possible scenario for Wilson.

who that was this cheap? fields is the only one i can think of but i guess that tells us what the league thinks re fields.
my understanding is that this one came to the broncos not the other way around and they figured it was cheap enough so why not.
In the sense that Denver maybe is not getting the traction on trading up that it wants.
Definitely could be. I don’t think any of the top 10 teams will even consider an offer until draft night, but Denver doesn’t have a ton of trade assets, and maybe the dangling of Pat Surtain isn’t enough to entice teams, given that he’ll need to be paid soon.
RE: RE: Pick swap AND Jets have to Pay some of his salary
Maybe I don't understand. Zach Wilson was the #2 overall pick.
2/3 - both those QBs were failures.
And much easier to move on when your QB did absolutely nothing AND also refused to play when the Jets wanted to go back to him.
No doubt Giants messed up giving Jones that contract, but he did lead the Giants to their first playoff in 11 years. Otherwise, The Giants would still be moving in Jets playoff history territory.
Yup, the Jets are at least admitting to their mistake and moving on.
the jets owned their mistake a long time ago because it was clear a long time ago.
Zach Wilson wasn't practicing like a pro. Wasn't preparing like a pro and sure as hell wasn't playing like a pro. The Jets has no positive data to go on at all with Wilson. They kept him this long strictly because of optics and #3 overall. They hoped Rodgers would rub off on him. Nope.

Few thoughts on #Broncos/Zach Wilson deal:
*Team has been in market for vet help since March, gets Wilson at low cost ($2.75M, late-round swap).
*Still enough ability with Wilson that perhaps a QB guru such as Sean Payton can salvage him
*Broncos worked on this for weeks. At least one other team checked in.
*Yes, team looking at QB options high in draft but something that was reminded to me: Roster needs much help and not much draft capital. Hard to maneuver that way.

The 2021 QB draft class:
No. 1: Trevor Lawrence: Starting for Jaguars.
No. 2: Zach Wilson: Traded to Broncos.
No. 3: Trey Lance: Traded to Cowboys.
No. 11: Justin Fields: Traded to Steelers.
No. 15: Mac Jones: Traded to Jaguars.
And honestly if Trevor Lawrence struggles this year I could see the Jags making a move here. Truth be told had the Charges not imploded two years ago, Lawrence would have been bounced out of the playoffs in the Wildcard round at home with a 4 INT game..

For a guy who was pegged as a "generational" talent, he has been a HUGE disappointment...
Yup, the Jets are at least admitting to their mistake and moving on.
Good move on their part. Literal addition by subtraction. He absolutely had to go. They did the kid a favor by sending him to Payton. Payton and Fassel helped to rehabilitate Kerry Collins and revived his career. Wilson can learn a lot from Payton. It's his last chance. I wonder if they'll pick up his 5th year option now.
this trade was 100% agreed to 1 month ago and woody stood in the way of it.
it is mind boggling that the same people who go to great lengths to build up the Mara boogeyman praise the guy who is actually the meddler for a move HE ACTUALLY MEDDLED IN.
was the best thing to happen for Wilson. Saleh is a control freak who will probably be out the door next season and back where he belongs as a DC somewhere.
Right now, Wilson is the starter in Denver and it is a good place for him with Peyton and the receiving talent they have. At this price for that arm talent, it was too good a deal to pass up.
I would think this is Payton's "QB Change of Scenery" longshot project. And he will eye Nix somewhere in the draft..

and as albright has reported the bo nix stuff is very real.
wilson has no impact on broncos draft plans, payton took him as a flier.
also goes to show that there was literally nobody else in the league willing to take wilson for free.
#3 overall pick.
I can't laugh at the Jets, sorry, after we paid Daniel Jones $100M.
100%.
You can do that?

Fair point and with Jones' injury history, I'd almost rather roll the dice on Wilson rather than Jones (at this point.)

the 2nd one in 4 yrs (Sam "I'm seeing ghosts out there" Darnold")
just reinforces how many of these guys teams reach for bust.

They basically drafted him because of off-platform throws... too bad he can't do anything else lol.

Hell I would have driven DJ over to the Jets' facility if they would have taken him for Zach as an even swap.

Some are, anyway.
