but aren't you the least bit suspicious that the more last-minute talk about QB fits for the Giants (and the team trading up for a QB), the greater the likelihood it's all a Joe Schoen smoke screen?

When it comes to attempts to trade up, it's hard to keep that quiet. Unless Schoen is like the David Blaine of GMs, which u don't think he is.
I think it is the fact that more and more rumors are coming out about a trade and I think these guys now want to sound smart after basically saying Giants aren't moving up..

Maybe. But, why do all the work and traveling visiting QBs if this is all a big smokescreen. I doubt it.
He had the opposite opinion of Maye...what changed?
Actually I take this back. He pointed out some flaws and how to correct them and said he will have to sit first, aka not pro ready yet, but he didn't not like him. Maybe his opinion has morphed a bit after watching more film

I think the pre-draft work on QBs was legitimate interest on the part of the Giants. I believe they then came to realize whoever of those QBs they ranked on the their draft board are either going to be unavailable do to teams keeping their picks or getting out outbid.

Seems like nothing changed for him, he's just pointing out plays that would fit well with what Daboll likes to do. He's still saying he needs to clean up his footwork.

Do you think Schoen had someone reach out to Dan Orlovsky and ask him to say this? Wouldn't that be much more obvious than saying nothing at all?

The diligence on the QBs is real. They may not choose one, but nobody in their right mind can believe they invested the resources they did into scouting 5 of the top 6 prospects as a "smoke screen." That is absurd on its face.

100% they did their due diligence on QBs and were 100% sincere. That’s not what’s being posited. Rather, maybe Giants management wants MHJ or Malik Nabers to be there at 6 and a trade-up for QB smoke-screen may be part of their strategy,
Theoretically, let’s assume the Giants absolutely want 2 out of the 3 top-end WRs to be there at 6. One way to do that is to bait Minnesota (and maybe Denver/Las Vegas) with the idea that we are desperate to move up for a QB. If one of these teams then jumps for one ahead of us, that increases the odds that the WRs will be there for Joe Schoen at 6.
I am no scout but when I watched him, I thought he was a very safe prospect. It’s likely imo that he can at least be a reasonably good NFL QB. A star? That I don’t know.

He has some issues to iron out, all these QB's do, however to many people who've studied his game tape and identified his traits, he's right there with Caleb to be a top 5 QB if everything works itself out. The arm talent is there.
