Enjoy today's game 😊
-Mets lucked out missing Snell today; despite his subpar performance thus far this season, he's still an elite SP when he's on his game.
-Would be nice to salvage this series and west coast trip by winning today.
-As Dan pointed out on the minor league thread, Zack Short looks to be the odd man out when J.D. Martinez joins the big club on Friday.
I almost didn't either, lol. We can chit chat here some today and tomorrow since tomorrow's an off day thankfully. I wanna watch the Draft tomorrow and wouldn't have started a thread of the Mets were playing anyway.
needs them since hes only hitting .190.
big lindor homer there - he's hitting .191.
pretty amazing this team is where it is against the schedule so far with senga out, jdm out, and 2 of their top 4 hitters under .200. alonso and mcneil not particuarly good starts either.
love that this group keeps tacking on and getting 2 out runs. good signs. 2022 team did both as well.
Yeah with the 6 run lead I would have let him get one more batter.
day off tomorrow and hasnt pitched since game 2 LAD since last 3 were trailing.

MLB.com Gameday Wrap
Get JD Friday and keep rolling. Hopefully Raley back in 2 weeks and then Alvarez by July 1.
mikolas (1-3, 6 era)
gray (2-1, 1 era)
lynn (1-0, 2 era)
so game 1 is a big one. get mikolas and their pen then hopefully split the vets.
contreras, winn, arenado have been good, all hitting right around .300. Arenado not with his usual power but i feel like he always hits homers against us. they have not been a good hitting team overall though - they are 27th in RC at 83, 637 ops. mets are 13th at a 104 with a 700 ops (and probably a bit higher after today).
big one to get because the upcoming schedule doesnt get easier.
14-9 cubs,
@ 12-13 rays,
@ st lou,
16-6 braves
home/home 15-9 phillies
breaks a little easier after that towards the end of may so if they can stay above .500 they'd should be in pretty decent shape on memorial day with senga/alvarez probably less than a month away from returns.
Because the April games count too. And if the Mets finish out of a playoff spot by 1 game (or like actually happened a few years ago and miss the division win by percentage points) maybe Lindor not batting .076 the first 15 games of the season could have changed that.
Obviously wins and losses are not just on one guy, but that one guy (whoever it may be) certainly contributes.
Juan Soto was a notorious slow starter, guess who wasn't a slow starter this year? Juan Soto. Players can change.
beyond that when will fans realize almost everyone in mlb is streaky. soto is the best lefty since bonds and even he can be streaky.

Goldschmidt has been horrific so far. Not sure if Father time is catching up with him but it's early.

and fans crap on him. Then he goes on a tear. When will fans figure out he's a slow starter?

yea Soto ..mean while Aaron Judge...
and hold up Pjac... ok yea his hitting was off but you just can't go ahead and omit his defense and some of the run saving plays he made in close games.
that shit counts in my book too
Would love to see the bats hear up at home.

+1
Today's win was a big one. Stopped a three-game skid and ended the trip on a positive note before an off day coming back home that'll do them some good (R&R). The way things have shaped up thus far, this is an above .500 team that can contend for the last wildcard berth.

Judge got booed at Yankee stadium the other day when he went 0-4 with 4K's and know what he said - basically "I deserve it. I have heard worse"
I do think the fans who crossed the line with Lindor on social media were wrong and are scum, but not being ok with his start (at the plate) is fine with me and criticizing him on this message board for it 100% ok and writing it off to "whatever, he's a slow starter" is fine if that's what you prefer to do, but I don't see it that way.
Those are the breaks, I guess. But the schedule makers certainly didn’t do the Mets any favors this season.
Mets are the only team to win a series against the Braves thus far.

Might be 2nd best since Bonds. Yordan Alvarez 164 wRC, which is the 10th best mark for a LHH since 1900. Soto 155. Yes, Soto is only 25 but Alvarez is only 27 years old himself.
