If I were the Giants or the Vikings I would be trying to desperately get up to 3 to draft Drake Maye
And I don’t think I would move off 3 if I was New England unless I got a minimum of (3) #1 picks
Three #1's? OK thanks but no thanks.
I think they’re an organization that’s really in bit of chaos. Roster is bad, real bad and they know it. The coaching staff is not looking too great and may just be biding time for 2-3 yrs for another turnover, plus there’s issues of ownership meddling and front office “tryouts” conflicting with visions of how to rebuild.
I agree, of all the teams for a rookie QB to develop, the Patriots are not high on my list.
Orlovsky was a below average QB at UCONN. Find it funny he's now an "authority figure" for NFL coverage...
"3 #1's" is a ridiculous statement as its way too vague. Not all #1 picks are created equal as covered in other threads.

I would trust his decision making, he did run out of the back of the endzone and try to throw a pass.

These kind of comments crack me up. The guy played in the NFL, studies a ton of film, especially the QB position. Has connections to all the teams in the league but lets knock him for his comment.
If Sy made this comment its taken as God's words. Whats the difference between Sy and Dan O or Chris Simms? They're all doing the same thing
So basically you didn’t watch any 2022 tape of Maye then have an understanding why 2023 was uneven

His skills and legend are growing every hour. I really don't see it. They have never seen a big strong Dummy QB before ? Sure hope Pats save Giants from themselves .

The 2023 tape scared me off. Watched 3 games and didn't see anything impressive. He looks easily confused and inaccurate and very shaky when pressured. I would really be happy to be wrong if we get him but what I saw was not good .

The reason why 2023 looked different than 2022 was that he had a new OC and literally lost his entire receiving core from 2022….therefore a ton of inexperience at the position
Look at 2022 and you’ll have a bit of a different take

Those are the same excuses that almost everyone here has rightly rejected for Jones. Maye was subpar in 2023. A potential franchise QB would have played much better despite having a new OC, a bad OL, and losing most of his WRs from the previous year. Franchise QBs overcome those problems and win anyway. He's not a franchise QB if everything has to be perfect around him for him to succeed.
His 2022 season means he's worth taking at #6, but his at best mediocre 2023 season means that the Giants should not give up a ton of draft capital and possibly players to trade up to get.

We can agree to disagree
As those facts are not an excuses and a very legitimate reason for the uneven performance
Way better than “Penix.”
