The Drake Maye hot takes just keep coming from former NFL running back Merril Hoge.
Weeks after labeling the North Carolina quarterback as “the kind of player that will get you fired,” Hoge doubled down on his criticism Wednesday, dubbing Maye “marginal at best” on the eve of the 2024 NFL Draft.
“Inconsistency alone, the inconsistency in throwing the football and processing, that’s just some of the problems. There’s a whole litany of things you have to correct,” Hoge said to WEEI’s Andy Gresh and Christian Fauria, according to NESN.

That's not to say he hasn't also had some good QB takes, but every one of these posts should include a record of the pundit's previous declarations.
He criticized Maye a few weeks ago but then yesterday went on a radio show in Boston (because of the Patriots reported interest)
The former media personality said he’s heard Maye compared to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen but adamantly disagrees.
“He is not even close to Josh Allen,” Hoge said. “… I see nothing about Josh Allen. … There’s nothing, like nothing, but that’s what people are going to expect.”
Maye's got a tremendous skillset and has a thrower's mentality. He gets Herbert comparisons for a reason - he's undoubtedly that style of QB. (Herbert isn't exactly Dick Butkus either.)
I'd be thrilled to see what Daboll could do with him.
At the end of the day if the Giants Brass likes a QB and drafts him, I will root for that guy to kick ass.
