Did the Pats crowdsource their QB research?

widmerseyebrow : 4/25/2024 9:26 pm
In other words did they use conversations with NYG, MIN, and others to gauge who was most popular?

I'm having trouble understanding the rationale of all that negotiation just to take sit and take a quarterback.
Obviously....not a great conviction

.
Yeah, they spend tens of millions of dollars on a scouting department

Only to ask the Giants and Vikings who to pick… 🙄

Maybe, just maybe it was all lying season and smokescreens. And they wanted Maye all along unless they got an absolute haul of picks. Its gamesmanship.
It’s about doing their homework

You get all the info you can. About the player and the trade potential. Then you make your choice. It’s not that confusing
Maybe Maye was the guy they wanted all along.

What if Washington took Maye and the Patriots weren't high on Daniels? The trades might have been their contingency if Maye wasn't on the board.
Huh?
UConn4523 : 4/25/2024 9:41 pm : link
they did exactly what every team in their position should do. What a strange take.
Unless they got the Giants and Vikings scouting profile on Maye
widmerseyebrow : 4/25/2024 9:41 pm : link
the only information they got was that the Giants and Vikings were willing to trade picks for him.

Would you feel comfortable about your scouting department if they didn't have the conviction to pick a guy based on their analysis alone? They need an external poll to feel good about their franchise quarterback?
Doesn't seem like a 4D chess move by NE, something happened

Deconstruction

We clearly wanted Maye. JJ was a smokescreen. Not sure how the deal with NE was on and then off again, but once they took Maye, there was no reason to trade up with AZ.

This is consistent with Schoen's history of targeting specific players and not position groups.

The big winner is Daniel Jones!
“All that negotiation” was just that,
Section331 : 4/25/2024 9:54 pm : link
trying to get the best offer. They didn’t get it, so they took their guy. That’s a good negotiation.
Mon Dieu! The draft has turned into a circus.
