have addressed the real issue the Offensive line. They gave up 85 sacks last year. We added a top WR and its not over yet we can add players still in free agency and the rest of the draft. I am glad we didn't give up this years picks and next years to move up.
Only four QBs threw for 30+ tds last year. Its probably unfair to put that pressure on him.
You're right. Don't want to pressure our $100M QB too much. He should take his time.
$100 million is a bargain for a starting NFL QB. Don't let DJ Derangement syndrome cloud your assessment.
He was the 32nd best starter in 2023. Worse than Zach Wilson. He's godawful. But for you he's a bargain at $100M. You must be Daniel's mom. I have bad news for you. Lock will beat him out
I don’t think there is an open contest. If Daniel can find the field and cross over the white lines, he will start. He is the Giants QB and it is his job until he doesn’t want it any longer.
His injuries are a concern and I was a bit shocked by how he started off last season. This could go many ways. He could possibly not be ready for the season due to injuries. He could start, but look as unproductive as last year. He could also look more like he did in 2022 and with an improved O-line and more weapons play better than expected. We just have to wait and see.
He'll have the best receiving group he's ever had and the most time to throw to them. No more Ezedu playing LT, Shane Lemieux at LG and a turn style Neal. Seemed easier for Tyrod and Cutlets when they had Thomas, Pugh and Phillips replacing those guys.
whether you like Barkley or notqYou lose any credibility calling him
I am certainly curious to see what Jones does...if he even starts the season. I don't have much faith in him, but he is being set up the way his supporters have been clamoring for. It's 100% on him.
Unless he has an incredible year as soon as he can be replaced
I'm glad we got him but I still only have to throw flat routes and 5 yard curls right? I mean I can throw other routes. I mean, never mind. Say hi to Mr. Mara for me! Tell him I asked about his workout routine and golf game
But the Giants are a better team today than they were yesterday. I’ll call that a success. Replacing DJ is a priority. It may not be THE priority given the circumstances. Baby steps. There are plenty of ways to build a contender. Look at the Rams and Bucs.
I have zero doubt they'll restructure and extend Jones. The Giants are desperate to prove he was a good pick and the contract they gave him made sense.
It's a hallmark of this shit organization, clinging to mistakes as long as humanly possible while telling yourself they weren't mistakes.
The bizarre fixation this organization has with a failure of a QB
but they need the OL to take a big step forward. Daboll needs to show he can develop a top running game via the RB's but I expect more of his gimmicky designed QB runs from the pocket.

You think losing Saquon will help Jones? Hmmm
In all my years following sports I have never seen a player treated like Jones has before. It boggles my mind. Strange phenomenon.
Saquon was always hurt and let Jones down when it mattered most. He wasn't a winning player. He's Philly's problem now.
Up is down. Black is white.
I’d say lead them to a playoffs would matter more

He says, unironically.

At getting a 3rd HC and 2nd GM fired
I think if they felt Jones playing poorly this year would get them canned they'd have been a lot looser with that 2025 1st rounder.
Fan sentiment will turn fast when the seasons over by Halloween again, regardless of anything Mara has told them since the end of last season.

He is likely in a much better position this coming season but I would have preferred that the Giants selected JJ.
No QB will be very successful on this team (imo).

He's already done that so if that is the baseline, then he's already suceeded and also went above and beyond by actually winning a playoff game
Yeah because supporting your best player is somehow a bad thing
ZERO chance if DJ is healthy.

So if the Giants go to the playoffs it wouldn’t be successful season?

he does have his moment.
Watch that video of the press conference.
Schoen texted Jones before the pick was announced to let him know.

has done even more this offseason not to screw up Daniel Jones's chance to be a great QB.

I'm excited. Gonna be a high flying offense in 2024.

I will.
Wouldn't you love a screenshot of that text?
He has ZERO excuses this year. OL should be improved. Weapons are improved. He knows the system in and out.
Just pray that he doesn't get hurt again. Again. Again.

Man shut up
Just watched the press conference. Schoen texted Daniel shortly before the pick.
bw was all over it. "We've done everything possible to screw this kid up. Year 6."
A positive I guess is Maye was polarizing. If this regime is fired after this year there isn't a QB forced on anyone.
Oh don’t you worry they will extend and restructure that deal.
Was Maye special enough of a QB to get them there? Maybe. But the other top 15 QBs weren't.
Like I've posted a trillion times, I'll believe they're moving on from Jones when they do.

Months ago I said there was little chance they'd draft a QB. Over time I talked myself into it.
My problem is I'm an optimist. That's over.

I certainly think they considered it. But when you like and invest in a player that much, it takes something big to move off.
Schoen and Daboll like Jones the way Payton likes Nix.

Is he going to actually throw the ball deep to Nabers? Or is the 2 yard check down back for year 6?
From the mouthpiece himself, Ralph Vacchiano:
"The Giants made the right move to stick with the QB they already had and get Daniel Jones the No. 1 receiver he's always needed.
Malik Nabers was the right pick at the right time."
