First things first - disgusted as I am by the prospect of seeing Daniel Jones in a Giants uniform for yet another season, I love Nabers. He will be an All Pro once the Giants finally get a decent QB to throw to him.
That said…I don’t hold out a lot of hope for Drew Lock but the job has to open to him. The days of Jones being the anointed starter no matter what have got to be over. If Lock outplays Jones in camp and preseason, then he should start.
Jones is the starter when healthy.
He is also better than lock so
The reality is I’m bummed too about the qb position but it’s gonna have to wait until next offseason
Hoping we add some more pieces next two days and roster in better shape next season. Then we add the QB in 2025
2. Lock could definitely outplay Jones. He's better at the throwing part of the job. He was brought in for a reason. Daboll wants to air it out, and Jones is incapable of doing it.
If Jones can't beat out Lock at any time this year and play well then he will certainly be gone next year when his cap hit is far easier to digest. Mara wants to win and he's not that dense to just say Jones plays even though he is obviously playing poorly. He's been part of this team for what now 7 staring QBs, not counting injury replacements, he knows it's about the team's best interest not about the QBs.
He may not have the best instincts or catch on as quick as people like, but the Giants are his life not Daniel Jones, despite what some of the more delusional parts of the fanbase thinks.
Most likely true, though stomach churning
Like it or not....Jones did lead the Giants to the playoffs...and a playoff win.....discount it....but it is what it is
Here we go. Every post you make for the next year is gonna be you hitching about the Giants believing in Daniel Jones. Obviously they don't believe in him as they spent months scouting QBs while attempting to trade up to #1 overall and once that got shut down attempted to trade to #3 overall.
Just because they don't believe in JJ McCarthy, Michael Penix & Bo Nix enough to take them in the top 6 doesn't mean they believe in DJ.
Penix & Nix have bust written all over them. Two older QBs that weren't any good in conferences that actually play defense. One has a terrible injury history. They were only successful once they got to a conference that doesn't play defense at all and they had far superior talent to 90% of the teams they played. It's easy to have good numbers when you can sit in the pocket all day and not get get whole your WRs are running wide open down the field.
I’m trying to get conversation on this kid- Jordan Travis of FSU. Why not draft him this year in the 4/5 rounds? I know he was injured, but certainly he can recover and the Giants can give him that time this first year. So lay it on me…I know you and bc from dc follow the college QBs very closely.
With that it’s also obvious that Schoen and Daboll wanted to stay with Jones for what is in essence a two-year deal , with an exit ramp provided after this season .
I don’t buy the insider’s take about John Mara’s alleged interference . He had his “I suck at this “ moment just as his father did . 100% Schoen-Daboll.
NFW. Tyrod is total trash.
Taylor blew it throwing darts into the ground in pre-season for two years. I have never seen an pro QB miss open WRs by literally drilling the ball into the ground 2 to 3 yards short of an open receiver about 10% of the time.
Look I loved that TT was at least willing to throw deep, even if he was 5 yards short all the time...
FWIW, Lock was told he would have the chance to start - that was why he did not stay in Seattle.
Just go be a Falcons fan at this point.
I generally agree, although I think the FO’s “love” for Jones is very disputable. If Rico’s report is true that Schoen offered NE this year’s 6 and 47 picks as well as 2025 1st and 3rd rounders to get Maye, that doesn’t scream Jones love to me.
I also agree with those who doubt that will actually happen, but we'll see
And people on here are way overhyping Drew Lock. He's a journeyman QB who just signed for 5 million who will be 28 this season. This isn't some exciting young prospect that many making him out to be.
Jones is the clear QB1 and they want to see him succeed. Lets now see it.
Greg, what would you have done? I'm curious. I believe you liked Penix, but you didn't seem high on either Maye or McCarthy if I recall.
Wellington had Pete Rozelle telling him "your family sucks at this".
McCarthy, no, not a fan of him in the top ten. Just don't think his ceiling is all that high.
I just am really disappointed that it looks for all the world that they're just going to trot out ol' Danny for year six of suckitude, and that Drew Lock was the best plan B they could think of. I haven't seen Lock play much, admittedly, but his history doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
What we need is a time machine to go back and rip up that Jones contract before his signature gets on it.
Jones is the starter when healthy.

What the hell makes you so sure he’s better than Lock?
