I see this being bandied around alot since last night, and I still don’t know that there’s evidence to support it.
At the cost of two 1s and one 2, they tried to replace him.
Believing that Nabers was a better option than the remaining QBs doesn’t mean they like Jones. I’m glad they realize the folly of signing yourself up to years in the development of a QB they don’t fully believe in - again.
You are misunderstanding the difference between evidence and proof.
We have made 17 draft picks in 3 years of Schoen/Daboll and have not drafted a single QB
What more do you need?
Q: Joe, do you view the quarterback position as a high priority, your next pick is 47, or do you remain comfortable coming out of this draft without one?
JOE SCHOEN: I’m comfortable with where we’re at.
That quote from Schoen sums it up
Yeah, my gut feeling is Jones would have to play godawful to lose his job, and he can't even injure himself out of the starter role due to the guarantee.
I think a performance even at the level of 2020 and 2021 keeps him around.
Yea, we’ll see if they actually gave an open QB competition

Heresy is not evidence.

If Drew Lock outplays him and Jones keeps the job, which is what I expect to see happen....

I think Daboll will surely start Lock if he feels he’s better than DJ.

Does it? The remaining guys are no better than Devito, that is a false statement for proof. Don't confuse the question, the options with proof of belief or desire..
Don't confuse the QB's taken in RD 1 with what the Giants considered to be rd 1 talent. No way Penix and Nix were RD 1 grades (just doesn't possible)..
Hope has been the Giants strategy for years
It's not some conspiracy that Mara is making them keep Jones, blahty blah. They liked him enough to give him the contract but that doesn't mean they haven't had regrets about it. It also doesn't mean they don't still like him better than the BBI QB know-it-alls (Which they CLEARLY DO). And doesn't even mean they clearly like him better than who they didn't select at 6 this year... it just means they have already committed to him and there was not enough evidence that who was available at 6 was worth taking based on the current situation.
They clearly understand the roster NEEDS to be better.
They couldn't get Maye or Daniels so the target became 1 of the top 3 wides and Nabers was arguably the best of this class. The bust rate for QBs is too high and you can't just draft one at 6 for the sake of drafting a QBs no matter how much the fans were calling for it.
I can argue the QB room is WORSE than last year.
Exhibit A:
No it doesn’t. It means that they didn’t think any of the QB’s were worth the 6th pick. Let’s say they agreed that JJM would be an upgrade over Jones, but didn’t see him as a franchise QB, should they have taken JJM anyway? No, in that case, they did the right thing by passing.

Schoen’s comments mean nothing. It was pure GM-speak. Look at what he does, not what he says. Now, him not drafting a QB is a valid point, but he clearly tried.
Unfortunately, I agree with this take.

It means they like him more than three other QBs the NFL deemed were top 12 picks.

Which, let's just be honest, is exactly why so many people who didn't want to move on from Jones were THRILLED by the Tommy Cutlets nonsense.
Those wins pushed them out of position to draft one of the top 3 QBs and made this the most likely scenario.

I want to move on from Jones, but I was happy we were winning. I will never cheer for a Giants loss. Will there be times that I am not disappointed when they lose, yes, but never will I want the other team to win.
Step 1- Get another QB
Its not a mystery.
I think Mara lets Flott baby sit his grandkids. Don't believe me? Wait a minute let me create a new handle and dish out some insider info.
Appreciate your info.
People say actions speak louder then words, well we've seen their actions.
Jones is QB1 until he's not on the team anymore.
