Look I was all in on Maye and JJM. I think JJM hurt the most. He was there for the taking. And he certainly wanted to be a Giant. But what do I know? I m moving on. And thrilled we got Nabers. I say this with some hesitation. Great player a true stud and hopefully a good citizen and teammate. The concern I do still have. Can we get one next year ? We were so close this year in a draft with quite a few available. Just because you say we want one doesn't mean we can get one. The other issue is developing one. Most don't come in their first year and become stars. Some take a couple years. Guess I m impatient after 10 years of football misery.
I hope he is given a fair shake to win the job but I doubt it.

I think he's a one year lease to drive into the ground vs. a long-term building block, we'll see.
I second this. Joe Schoen & Brian Dabolls guy is Daniel Jones
Q: Joe, do you view the quarterback position as a high priority, your next pick is 47, or do you remain comfortable coming out of this draft without one?
JOE SCHOEN: I’m comfortable with where we’re at.
Yeah, I think it's far more likely that Jones is the guy for 24 and 25 barring an absolute catastrophe. Then if it all fails, they clean house after 2025 but I wouldn't also rule Jones sticking around even longer.

It needs to be an open competition but you are probably right. Jones is probably going to look amazing in camp, like he did last year. And I think it will be fools gold, just like last year.
They liked Maye and tried to get him, but when they look at the other QBs that went in the first round, they concluded Daniel Jones was better than them and had a higher ceiling than all of them.

Schoen/Daboll have made their choice and its Jones/Lock
I'm thinking he may be the interim answer...
All the other QBs that are available are just backups in my opinion.
They spent a lot of time visiting and evaluating QB. They tried to trade up for Maye. They just could not make a deal. They were not going to draft a QB just say they drafted one. They needed to believe in the QB.
so how does that fit with the narrative that Giants are sold on Jones and not interested in a new QB?
hint - it doesn't.
whether they turn out to be right or wrong, they clearly didn't love JJM or Penix enough to take them over the guy they thought was better (Nabers)
I wish we had a shiny new QB as well but that doesn't equal making shit up like a pouting child.

I’m not even convinced they tried that hard. Surely at some level they knew they couldn’t offer the Patriots enough to get them to move, so they let it be known they made a good faith effort and can now say “welp, we tried” and keep on going with Jones for the rest of our lives.

He has been slowly improving as time goes on. There’s a fair chance that he develops into something usable and not just a placeholder.
Sanders
Beck
Allar
Milroe
Weigman
and who knows if someone else steps up and is suddenly on the radar..

Maybe Daboll gets fired, but Schoen isn't going anywhere imo.
Most in the media didn't consider Daniels a good prospect at this time last year, or even in October/November. Most in the media didn't consider McCarthy a good prospect until after the national championship game, or a potential top 10 pick until after the combine. There is no way to know what the QBs will be like for next year's draft. You have guys like Ewers, Beck, Ward, Dart, VanDyke, Leonard, Sanders, Weigman. Even Allar from PSU. None of us has any idea what another year of experience will do for any of them. Do any have the look of another Mahomes? No. But who knows. The big knock on some of them is inconsistency. Does another year of game action solve that? If people thought Daboll could have fixed Maye's issues, why couldn't he do the same with Ewers? Or any of the others.
Let's worry about the rest of this draft and try to fill holes with real NFL quality players, and worry about next year later on.
If DJ gets protection he can produce especially now that he finally has a legit WR room, the first since I can't remember...
I hope he is given a fair shake to win the job but I doubt it.
Be optimistic - Daboll will definitely start Lock if he’s the better QB.
Or Kirk Cousins.
+1
At this point, all we can do is hope that Lock can somehow become a competent starter.

What I'd like to do is go back and look at in-season posts to see who was gung-ho to win any game possible (Pats, Washington, Packers) because it was "better in the long run" for the Giants and how it was so much fun watching DeVito. How many of those posters are now bitching that they didn't give up a huge haul of draft picks for QB 3 who by all accounts has lots of issues that need fixing. If the Giants had lost to the Pats and Washington, Daniels or Maye would be a Giant today. Were those wins over the Pats and Washington worth it now?

A few will. Every season this happens, but by the end a few really look good. I personally think Ewers will eb a top rated guy by the end of all this
Mara doesn't want to fire Schabes and start over again. There's a LT plan, just calm down lol. Take a shot/hit of something and step away from the keyboard.
Mara was OK with going after a QB THIS year!
--------
Current Teams' QB
NFC
EAST - Hurts, Dak, Daniels
NORTH - JJM, Caleb, Goff, Love
SOUTH - Kirk, Carr, Baker, Bryce
WEST - Purdy, Kyler, Geno, Stafford (but how much longer?)
AFC
EAST - ARog, Josh, Tua, Maye
NORTH - Watson, Burrow, Lamar, Russ/Fields
SOUTH - Trevor, ARich, Levis, CJ Stroud
WEST - Mahomes, Herbert, Nix, LVR?
So, yeah, next year, who are we duking it out with?
LVR, maybe SEA, maybe LAR, who knows w/Dak (FA), maybe TB, maybe NYJ? PIT?
"bounce back"....he'd have to have been good at some point to "bounce back"

Or maybe Daniel Jones is gone after the 2024 Season.
Why? Because he can't work miracles with Jones?
Jones will burn 10 HCs by the time he retires from the Giants.
This is where I am at as well. Some will discount this, but I truly believe the Maras have their sights set on Arch.
