Trade up for DeJean or Newton

CMicks3110 : 4/26/2024 9:39 am
How much do you think it would cost and is it worth it? We traded from 40 to 33 for a 4th and 7th for Landon Collins. I’m thinking probably #70 and maybe a swap of a later round pick. Would you do it?
I would not do it
Mike in NY : 4/26/2024 9:41 am : link
At those positions alone you have the Clemson DT, Mike Sanistril, and Max Melton in addition to the names you listed.
No, keep your picks and let the draft come to you.

Neither DeJean or Newton will move the needle that much. With so many holes, don’t throw away picks for slight upgrades in talent. Why trade a 3rd rd pick to take DeJean when a guy like McKinstry might make it to 47? I like DeJean, but he’s not that much of an upgrade.
Trade value board
Jon In NYC : 4/26/2024 9:43 am : link
suggests it would cost a 4th to move from 47 to 39 or so.

I'd honestly probably rather either sit pat or trade down and accumulate more picks. There are still a lot of holes on this roster.
I am actually hoping for a slight trade back, similar to 2022
Capt. Don : 4/26/2024 9:47 am : link
we went from 36 to 43 and picked up an extra 4th and 5th.

LOTS of really good players available.
I agree
Bones : 4/26/2024 9:48 am : link
Hold onto your draft picks. I thought this is where the Giants would actually trade down to get an extra pick, but since I too believe CB could be the target, I think they stay put as the value will probably be there.
There are still a few good CB's on the board,
barens : 4/26/2024 9:48 am : link
I don't think trading up is necessary. I'd be very happy if they are able to get the Rutgers Corner.

Agreed on not trading up. With a team that has many needs and only 6 picks it would be stupid to give up a couple more to move up 10 spots in the second round. They would likely end up with 1, 2, 3, 5, and maybe 6.
trade back some, add a few more picks
jvm52106 : 4/26/2024 9:51 am : link
for depth purposes.
Kool-aid is still there at CB Too
PatersonPlank : 4/26/2024 9:52 am : link
.
I would love Newton
UberAlias : 4/26/2024 9:54 am : link
But we can't afford it at this point. Maybe if they fall.
We are not one pick away
ZogZerg : 4/26/2024 10:01 am : link
It all depends on the Giants grades.
kool aid and newton are both medical flags
Eric on Li : 4/26/2024 10:02 am : link
both recovering from jones fractures.

everyone wants them, nobody knows what the drs say.

nyg likely visited them bc of the medical knowing they might fall. doesnt mean they will pick.

agree with mike in ny re sainristril and melton. id add jenkins. harbough will probably take jenkins though.
I expect to keep #70
JonC : 4/26/2024 10:05 am : link
That could deliver a starter.
Is Cooper DeJean
Andy in Boston : 4/26/2024 10:05 am : link
Jason Sehorn ?
they had visits with Newton
SirYesSir : 4/26/2024 10:12 am : link
as well as Melton, Isaac, McKinstry, Beebe, Paul, and Benson

I would expect them to sit tight and grab whichever one they like best who falls
why
Eric from BBI : Admin : 4/26/2024 10:13 am : link
in God's name would you want to have fewer than 5 picks now?
Without taking a QB
Metnut : 4/26/2024 10:14 am : link
the rebuild is going to be longer. Giants need more players, not less.
Stay pat
DonnieD89 : 4/26/2024 10:15 am : link
or possibly trade down a little from 47 if there is equal to similar value. Would like to come out with a DT and CB2.

i think it's more likely they try to add picks than subtract, but im not sure there's anyone out there really buying.

they need to nail #47, #70, #107 and get more than 2 starters out of their first 4 picks like the lions did last year.
hard disagree
Ned In Atlanta : 4/26/2024 10:16 am : link
CB, DT, OL, Safety. There will be good players available at 47 and 70.
I hear what everyone is saying about not moving up BUT
Festina Lente : 4/26/2024 10:19 am : link
I Think it depends how far we are talking and who is still on the board At the time. If they think a much more impactful player is available for, say a 4th, and that he will likely go before 47 i totally could see it.

Quality is much more important than quantity. Moreover, many analysts think this is more of a top-heavy draft(i.e. day 3 is less valuable and deep than previous years).
I would be really hesitant to trade up now
Mike from Ohio : 4/26/2024 10:29 am : link
This team needs a lot of help and there are not many assets left to get that help. One guy picked in the second round is unlikely to do that.
Stick and pick
Rjanyg : 4/26/2024 11:14 am : link
We have a scouting department for a reason. If you want to give up the 6th to move up for somebody you love I’m good with that.
looking at Sy's list of available players
bc4life : 4/26/2024 11:47 am : link
trading up would be really dumb
I wouldn't mind
Amtoft : 4/26/2024 11:49 am : link
a small trade up for Cooper DeJean or Newton if they fell a little and it didn't cost much. Especially if it was a pick swap instead of a straight trade. So they get pick 70 and we get pick 90 back... something like that to move up as much as we could.
No
GiantsFan84 : 4/26/2024 12:02 pm : link
I don’t think either is a stud
