this is pretty funny and insightful. I wonder how many trades get pulled off this way. Oh, and what a steal, Randy Moss for a 4th?
Also, it seems like this affable version of Belichick is what you get when he's at a job interview (lol, not cantankerous old man saying "we're on to Cincinnati")

Exactly. Everyone who has played for BB has said he is completely different than the guy you see in pressers. I think back to how he reacted when Guillermo from the Kimmel show would ask ridiculous questions before the SB, and Bill would just roll with it.
It has nothing to do with rehab.WHen they ad teh shwo about the greatest all-time players a fewyears ago-- he was also a fun listen.
But, if you ask a smart question, he won’t shut up. Example, member of the media asks him question about details of Long Snappers and he gives a 10 minute answer. Bill was literally eyes closed and when the question was asked, he absolutely shines and gives a history lesson on top of football talk. Amazing.
Anytime I’ve heard him talk football, he lights up. He’ll be brilliant on TV.
The guy loves football, he’s a student and historian of the game, and he’s also a teacher. It’s a great combo for a communicator. You can’t be a coach and be as successful as him without having something under the hood that makes you semi palatable.
I listened to way more Belichick press conferences than most people. I used to have sports radio on during my commute to work in metro Boston and the Q&A was always fascinating.
90% of it was glib, Belichikian responses ("we're on to Cincinnati" "we did what we thought was best for the team" "we did what we thought would give us the best chance to win") but every now and then someone would ask a random question and you would get 30 minutes on the evolution of the long-snapper and you hung on every word because it was like that one professor you had in school who could teach like they were telling a story. And before he responded in that manner there was a pregnant pause when you thought a Belichickan barb was coming, but then he morphed into Professor Belichick.
but reporters had to work hard or it was at least rare to get hin out of glib, cantankerous Belichick into affable story teller, football historian Belichick
Media Belichick is one of the surprise stories of the offseason IMO, it's been awesome, and I'm someone who kinda tired of him, at least in his constantly being tied to the Giants.
i would imagine part of the problem was mcafee barking like a dog while belichick was breaking down film, but that aside im pretty sure the 60 seconds belichick spent on each prospect was more valuable to pay attention to than anything else this offseason.
