Dante Miller out of South Carolina who was deemed ineligible for the draft. Seems like an under the radar gem which may make getting a rb obsolete in the draft.
Never heard of this kid.

Miller is a good project to have, though.
Is he the best power back iyo?
Well, I love UDFAs as much as the next guy. He's a UDFA . From Columbia. Who hasn't played much football since 2021.
In other words, he's the most-overhyped UDFA we've signed in memory.
Giants Re-Sign Isaiah Simmons and Sign Dante Miller - ( New Window )
Gray and the secret weapon we recently signed, Miller, are all we need to supplement the very good Singletary. Say no to RBs to draft…
Say hello to more OL, more LB, even more QB.
We just gave Motor a good contract and have Gray and Brightwell behind him with Miller being a potential every down back superstar in the making. (Key word is potential). I’m less comfortable with the TE room. Rather see Milton or a good 2-way TE

No, he was given the minimum, UDFA deal (which is 3-years for alll UDFAs).. No signing bonus.
He's a longshot. He wasn't signed as anything more than that.
How are you guys not getting this?

Someone’s prickly this morning. Btw, it seems he flew under the radar of quite a few people in this thread. Just sayin’ ;)

Because measurables like that, while certainly no predictor of success, are worth taking note of. Not all that easy to simply ignore as completely meaningless. The likely end to the story is, ok, they are meaningless, but right now ... look at that!

I think the same mindset that leads some fans to imagine that Tommy De Vito is a potential starter in 2024 also leads fans to imagine that this RB is going to help solve the Giants RB problem.
If either guy contributes, it’ll be a great story. De Vito is already a great story. It’s easy to fall in love with the story. In reality, their stories haven’t been written yet. They may pan out or vanish from the NFL without a trace. The latter is much more likely.
That was my read as well. He was just using his anti jinx language
"Oh my, we stole a wide receiver in Ford-Wheaton!! Look at his size and speed!"
I'm rooting for this kid, but you guys have him making the roster. He's a running back from Columbia who hasn't really played football since 2021.

Could Tommy cutlets throw the ball as far as Uncle Rico? Does Tommy outrun medium sized dogs in the street? No, but Turbo Miller can lol

Eric fwiw, I agree with you. Just did a double take on the kids 40yd and bench press bc they are, objectively, insane.
He's a fantastic story. And he's a great kid. I'm rooting for him.
But in no way is he impacting the Giants' decision to take a RB or not.

Then it must be they are confident in Gray as RB2 🤪
But the draft isn't over. If value matches, they'll take a RB today. If it doesn't, they may still add a veteran FA.

i would say he is equivalent to a 6th/7th round pick.
if we have a chance to draft a good RB in 4th/5th - take that.
I was a fan of the pick like everyone else but sometimes, once you get the kid into the actual NFL program, you can just see that they don’t have it.
athletic profiles matter.
4.2 speed is special. rare.
that gets you drafted in 7th rounds flyers.
He can potentially be a special teams demon, including at KR with the new rules this year.

Gray is slept on here

why would a back who hardly touched the ball at South Carolina be worth a 6th round draft pick?

So does not playing in a serious college program. Or not playing football in two full seasons.
The problem was SC's compliance people read the rule wrong. Then the kid decided to bet the NCAA would ignore that and rule in his favor even though the rules said the opposite.

'Motor' is Singletary. Miller is 'Turbo'.
