I know the draft is not over yet,but lets face it rounds 4-7 are really a complete shot in the dark.
Chances are he will address RB,TE,DL today, but my feeling thus far is he has really gotten his legs under him as a drafter.
He has allowed the draft to come to him for the first time, and taken BPA in positions of need.
It seemed like the 22,23 drafts he was chasing ghosts and constantly behind the 8-Ball.
He didn't chase QB,in round 1 and went with perhaps the best WR in the draft.
Round 2 saw a major run on DT and CB,so rather than trading up,he went with the best S in the draft.Consider X replaced.
In round 3 I would have gone with Bebe, but I am pleased with a slot CB,who may wind up as CB2 on the other side of Banks.
Rememeber Schoen spent quite a bit of capital on IOL this off season.
Thoughts???
We were all thrilled with his first two drafts, with one exception. Everyone was bitching about the Wan'Dale Robinson pick.
Everyone said A+ about Kavyon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal at the time.
Everyone couldn't believe we got Schmitz and Hyatt last year.
The one noticeable difference between this regime and the previous ones is that Schoen and Daboll have done better in rounds 4-7.
We can't assess if the players who haven't performed yet (Neal, Hawkins, etc.) are busts. Back in the day, draftees sometimes didn't see the field for 2-3 years!
So before we can pass judgment on Year 1 and 2 and even 3....we need to see if there is development.
I hope this new OL coach elevates Neal into a true bookend for Andrew Thomas. That is my sincerest wish!
But I do agree, he seems to be picking very smartly this year. Taking the #1 rated safety at 2 and then a CB at 3 was bold.
I like how Schoen and Daboll operate.

100% correct. After the last 2 drafts, the resounding reaction was Schoen did a great job. It wasn’t until the players started playing that opinions started changing. I think this draft is exactly the same. We’re all very optimistic and excited. Also, there is still time for the players from the earlier drafts to turn it around and succeed. Not much, but it’s still possible.
Nothing wrong with rating a draft the day after. Just realize that grade is very changeable based on actual results.
I think they have the ship turned in the right direction.
I also think they have full support of John Mara....
But they are both first timers at their respective positions, and have suffered a bit of growing pains...
Thibs and Neal were the correct moves but the rest of that draft was a blurr of chasing...
JMS and Hyatt were solid picks that I loved at the time....
But we need to be a bit concerned about how Neal and JMS played last year no???

And I'm not defending them.
I'm merely pointing out that you saying that your claim that there has been a difference in their drafting is unfounded. If anything, fans were happier at this point two years ago and last year.
Regarding your last comment, now you're moving the goal posts. That's s different subject.
Moving up, moving down, staying put (either because you couldn’t move or because you declined offers to move) are all a function of the board.
Without seeing the board and without knowing what deals we declined, how can we judge?
We can only somewhat judge where it appears that the scouting or coaching or merging of the two is solid or shitty, and we can’t make that determination for years. Liking or hating a draft immediately is only a function of your own self awareness and perspectives.
Last year was injury filled and not thier fault at all
2022 was incredible
Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water
Hopefully the FA Class on the line is what we expect it to be.
His misses have been on the O-line in the draft which obviously hurts more than any other.
Schoen has now addressed all 4 positions that we lost to free agency...assuming Waller leaves
To me if you stand pat and don’t get extra value from what you started with in terms of draft picks a B is the best I will give

My point was not to praise them or knock them... simply state that I see no difference in the way they have drafted.
He showed last year he’s a legit player.
I believe this team could be highly successful with a season minimally effected by injuries.
