The Sporting News Giants Draft Grades

GFAN52 : 5/1/2024 9:49 am
While the experts raved about the Giants' draft class, here are our own grades for every pick Big Blue made in 2024: Three Grade A's and three Grade B's.

Round 1, Pick 6: WR Malik Nabers, -LSU "Adding a weapon like Nabers, who can win at all three levels, is a massive success." Grade A

Round 2, Pick 47: S Tyler Nubin, Minnesota - "Nubin is a highly intelligent playmaker who understands where he needs to be to make plays on the ball." Grade A

Round 3, Pick 70: CB Andru Phillips, Kentucky - "Phillips is a feisty and aggressive cornerback who brings elite athleticism and explosiveness to the secondary." Grade B

Round 4, Pick 107: TE Theo Johnson, Penn State - "He's an elite athlete and continues to make improvements as a run blocker." Grade A

Round 5, Pick 166: RB Tyrone Tracy Jr., Purdue - "A converted wide receiver, Tracy offers several layers to the offense as a member of the backfield committee, especially on passing downs." Grade B

Round 6, Pick 183: LB Darius Muasau, UCLA - "Even if he just adds production on special teams throughout his rookie contract, this pick will be worth it." Grade B

Seems fair

Tracy might get a better grade based on getting him in the 5th but who’s to quibble. They filled a bunch of holes and got top talent with their top picks. Not bad.

If at least 4 of the 6 make the roster and filling starting and depth roles, I'd say this draft is a success.
I don't want the rookies

other than Nabers seeing the field before November. JMS and Hawkins were not ready to play last year. Hopefully, there aren't any lasting effects of throwing them out there before they were ready.

I think they see Nubin as a possible day one starter. There is a spot to fill and our DC likes a two safety look.

Huh? Makes no sense. Waller is retiring, Theo should see reps ASAP. He's better than Bellinger, Tracy is versatile and offers more than Gray. Phillips I can see but he will play ST and Nubin is a starter Day 1.

This old TC approach of not playing rookies is so outdated, the best players need to play.
I don't believe you can grade a player who has not played a single

JFC, I almost agree with something Stroud said.

I think a post-draft grade should be cumulative based on value, need, and draft management.

I would think his personal problems will translate into more time on his hand….he needs to keep busy…..plus his wife won’t be nagging him to come home to Vegas.
