The 1st step to any successful season starts with winning one's division.
Any improvement must be measured by the improvement of the other teams.
The Eagles, Commanders and Giants were all busy in FA. The Cowboys approach seemed odd, they won't be winning this off season..
Draft grades are silly, especially those that give lower grades because their guys weren't picked....but relativity does matter.
They all did well in the draft and their keys imo:
Commanders: it's all about the QB
Eagles: the DBs..and 3 extra picks in 2025!
Cowboys: the OL
NYG: the DBs. The QBs will be compared forever....the WR?
Now about Nabers and Burns.
We usually measure "holes filled", but not to what degree of impact.
I would argue, Nabers and Burns are the best offensive and defensive players added to any team in the division this off-season.
Their impact improves the Giants more. How much is still TBD....but I think it will make major steps forward on both sides of the ball...the remaining questions of the OL developing and whoever is the QB delivering will tell the story. I also give the Giants one other advantage, coaching within the division.
The Commanders feels like a new franchise, with the amount of turnover. They will be better, but it should take some time.
The Cowboys seem to have fallen back, but who knows. I can always hope for a major implosion.
The Eagles just piss me off....they need DBs, the top guys fall in their lap. Cap doesn't seem to affect them....and they work the draft better. They know more draft picks are a competitive advantage.
The question I have....is what caused their collapse last year and was it resolved.
I do not have the gloom and doom. I always try to find a path....
Granted, everyone has a plan until you get smacked in the face. Last year, came early with the 40-0 Dallas beating and the season ended with Thomas hamstring. They were not ready to compete.
The Giants must be ready for game 1!
Go Giants!
And the Eagles implosion definitely feels like it was linked to HC.
Another factor is the history in the NFL of how difficult it is for a "successful" team to STAY at the top (for a variety of reasons including complacency.)
Nabers will have a big impact on the rest of the O if he is the player we expect. DCs have to account for him on every play, opening up running lanes and allowing the other WRs more opportunities. On D, the combination of Burns, Dex and hopefully an improved Thibs should be a handful. Looks like we are going big at the spot opposite Dex so we should be more stout. There is a hole at CB but maybe the coaches can coach up the kids or a vet is added.
Wash is going to go through some growing pains. They may see some late season success. Is Daniel’s the guy? Is their OL good enough to help this kid?
Dallas is interesting. They lost a lot and added nothing but the draft. I’d say they are not as good.
Philly is a question mark to me. They lost some high quality aging vets and also collapsed down the stretch. Everyone has loved their drafts the last 3 seasons but the on field play of those players has been a mixed bag. The success of the previous OC and DC lead me to believe that the coach is the problem in Philly and Hurts hasn’t been the same player since his injury in 2022. I still think Philly is in decline.
If the Giants OL has finally been stabilized, we will see a very competitive Giants team in 2024. Im think Jones is better than a lot of people give him credit for, I just hope that he is not a head case with all of the pressure and sacks he got last season. If healthy, I think the Giants are a playoff team.
DG was a poor GM and the roster was the bottom of the league with entire units completely dysfunctional(OL&WR)
True, yes?
I am sure we can find it on BBI, we all said have patience with the new HC because the TEAM sucks.
Fair?
Everything went our way at the start of 2022, came out rolling 7s
We exceeded expectations by significant margin in 2022.
Reasonable?
2023 We all had much higher expectations(even some Jones critics)
We rolled nothing but craps for 5 games to start the season and never recovered(injuries, bounces, calls, all craps)
Fair right?
The season was over before we had had a chance to begin.
Not crazy
Most of us , maybe even ALL of us were OK with drafting a new QB this year.
There is no DJFC
There are only people that get REALLY mad when the people that manage the team do not do the way they feel they should. I get it we have been losing.
This team had seasons, one where they wildly exceeded everyone’s expectations and made a gourmet meal out of leftovers.
Another season, where when we think about it, we failed to meet expectations that were actually too high for the talent on the team. We then failed to meet those inaccurate, higher expectations when real adversity hit during the most difficult portion of the schedule.
I am excited for part 3.
I don’t know what is going to happen.
Hopeful.
Agreed.
The Eagles collapse last season was unprecedented and this year they lost their vet leader on both sides of the ball (Cox and Kelce) - they should be a fascinating team to watch.
The Cowboys seem to be stuck in regular season champions mode. Will Dak every lead them to any amount of playoff success?
Giants have really stepped up their game when they play Philly, good to see that under Daboll. The Cowboys still own the Giants - that has to be a priority.
They have issues at the O-line and all over the defense.
Hopefully Bobby Johnson keeps up the work that he performed with the Giants. Kingsbury and Quinn are a weird combo
Washington post draft report /depth cart athletic - ( New Window )

I can't believe another team thought Bobby Johnson did a good job last yr. I expect their OL to suck. Daniels might have a rough yr.
As a longer term goal, yes, the FO should be graded on competing for the NFCE title, but as a near-term goal, being in the WC race is a good start.
Not saying Philly goes 8-9 or 9-8 but until they prove to themselves they are closer to first half 2023 then second half, their might he some self doubt in Philly. I mean the Giants beat them up late in the year. That was real and it wasn't like half the team was on IR. Maybe there were some unheralded injuries or maybe there weren't any, but that team was flat out bad down the stretch. Adding a corner in round 1 doesn't change things. THe team needs to find its identity again. IF they don't, expect an up and down year.
Dallas to me is still a safe bet for 10-12 wins. They had one odd weird and wonderfully awful showing in January but all in all that team was quite consistent throughout the season.
Washington who the hell knows. Even if they are good, NYG will probably beat them at least once.
Barkley is the biggest key in the NFC East. If he's the 2022 version in Philly that takes a ton of pressure off Hurts and makes everyone's job easier. If someone steps on an ankle or a hammy goes snap the Eagles will have to find a way to dig out from under what the devolved into without a star RB.
Yes they have but with o many older vets. We'll see what happens...
There was a reason the Eagles imploded after mid-season last year and it wasn't Jalen Hurts...
McCarthy should have been fired two year ago.
The are Giants are 2 year removed from making the playoffs and winning the 1at playoff game.
This roster is substantially better
No team have all the answers
I just do not get fans....even if you think the Giants are the most hopeless team in the league (The Panthers)...they are all 0-0 and no team has a free ride to the playoff.
As for the 2 perennial also-rans....does it really matter? WFT fans will be excited for the season and for the 1st time in over 25 years, I'll actually be envious of them.
Defensively their linebackers didn't improve at all to me. Their interior is worse by losing Cox and Jordan Davis has to prove he's worth keeping. Their edge guys have a lot to prove themselves - Huff was situational with NYJ and their also lost Reddick. Graham is older. Nolan Smith is very unproven. Milton Williams was close to being shown the door if anybody wanted him. They have a front that was gashed and does anybody have an answer to their fix? The DB room got younger with Mitchell and DeJean but their old guys were bad last year and will very likely start. They didn't have any impactful safety play. Guess we'll see, but like the Giants, Commanders and Cowboys, they all have big question marks to me.
Commanders themselves need to hope they picked the right QB and surround him with good line play. Not there now. Defensively they have great IDL and LB's with Wagner on his last legs and Frankie Luvu. But the rest? Eh, not overly impressed.
