between my son's volleyball games, the Knicks and the Rangers, haven't had much time for the Mets.

Houser's ERA would look good if it was assists/gm for a point guard or receptions for a WR.

It's a problem for sure. This lineup misses Alvarez and needs J.D. Martinez to step up consistently. I get that they're still ramping up Martinez to an extent, but they need consistent production from him pronto. I won't even get started with the other problems with the guys who aren't hitting like they should.

Yeppers. Gelbs just reported on it saying that has the Mets challenged it, PCA would have been called out.

Gary Cohen just said that BSPN is reporting that Christian Scott is being called up to start in Tampa on Saturday (it would've been Severino's start). Game's gonna be on Fox. Mets might be going to a 6-man rotation for a stretch of games he's speculating.

My guess (admittedly out of my ass) is that they are giving Sevy an extra day after the high stress game flirting with the no-hitter, but most significantly are moving Houser out of the rotation. Scott stays on his regular turn, Sevy an extra day of rest, and Houser out. Win/win/win

don't want to lose 3/4 at home to the Cubs with a road trip coming up (TB is a good team despite the record).

Lucchesi could conceivably still replace Houser.

So this suggests Scott isn't actually replacing anybody. Lucchesi of course could be.

Rays offense has quietly been awful this season so if you're looking for a team for Scott to face (in his home state no less aka friends and family)... not the worst option #Mets

Didn't look that far ahead in the schedule.

Really liked the Houser/Taylor trade, but Houser needs to move out of the rotation for now. No options, so send down Young. Have him pitch in long relief until he gets things right.

also reporting Scott will be up "for at least 1 start" to give the others starters an extra day, so yeah either Houser lives to see another start or Lucchesi is replacing him, not Scott.

NY. 26 games in 27 days will be tough on the bullpen, and with 6 starters, you're limited to 7 bullpen guys (unless you go with 3 bench guys). That's where Nolan McLean will come in handy in a few years

curious to see if/when they pull the plug on McLean hitting. MONSTER power but 41 ab's... 22 k's in A+.

Yeah, ultimately he's a pitcher. But would be nice to have a guy like that you could occasionally use if you need an additional bat off the bench. Even if he hits like a decent hitting pitcher back in the day, still something.

openly said hitting is important to him but at some point I imagine they tell him he's a pitcher full-time.

also goes tonight for Bing, so that's another near term Houser rotation replacement option.

Yep.

Would love to see Scott take a rotation spot and not relinquish it. Senga, a re-signed Sevy if he continues like this (and healthy), Scott, and Butto has the makings of a pretty good rotation next year, even if they don't sign someone. Would obviously want 1 FA SP to be signed along with Sevy though.

hate him a little less right now. good job splitting the series. cubs played good baseball and while mets made some mistakes they fought back in both losses, could have won either game.

need to get on a roll offensively.

The Met "fans" who relentless rip on Lindor can go fuck themselves IMO. Mets are lucky to have him. Even when his bat slumps he plays a good SS.

I know it's early May and all, but this was important. Nice comeback. Bats came alive when needed. Baty was FANTASTIC in the field AGAIN today. Lindor was hue off the bench with the flu (Stewart shouldn't have dunked him with ice water in his condition). Sugar threw two innings. Garrett is a big plus, Narvaez came up with those tags at the plate (although he shouldn't have cried to the ump when the play was still alive---luckily the Cubstains player did the same). What else can be said for Marte's arm in RF?

Carlos Mendoza confirms that Christian Scott will start Saturday for the Mets in Tampa Bay. "We feel like he's ready," the manager said.

After that? "We'll see" if it's just a spot start or a longer audition, Mendoza said.

Great series split after those two extra frustrating losses against the Cubs. If they can stay afloat another month the schedule eases up a bit but I'm really enjoying this squad and the Stearns fresh start.

Only 6th time in last 50 years it’s been done.
