Mets prospect RHP Christian Scott will be called up to make his big league debut, likely on Saturday in Tampa, per source.
Scott was 99th on my top 100 prospects list entering the spring and has dealt at AAA since then: 25.1 IP, 12 H, 6 BB, 36 K.
Hauser will be DFA.

So will have to make another move. Not sure why they don't just call up Lucchesi.
Hauser will be DFA.
Doubt that.

Not happening. He's been good in the past. No options, so option Young and put Houser in long relief to see if he can get right.
Mets have an off-day on the 9th. With Scott pitching Saturday, they wouldn’t need a 6th starter until the 15th at the earliest.

Sounds like Scott will serve as the 6th starter. Lucchesi may indeed still come up to replace Houser... or Houser remains... #Mets

They are giving everybody an extra day.

That intersection will occur this weekend, the back half of the Mets’ stretch of 13 games in 13 days (the start of a larger 39-in-41 run). By inserting Scott for at least one turn in the rotation, the Mets provide an extra day of rest for all of the regulars.
If you're in the bay area, check stubhub.
2nd. Struck out 6 over 2 innings his first rehab start

I'll post a link here on Saturday's game thread. It's a nationally televised game on FOX. I hope the stream works for you on your phone if you're out and about KD.

First its Houser and 2nd based on what ?
If it were on SNY you could at least get to watch a replay or Mets Fast Forward. Sucks.

so I likely won't be able to see this one. On east coast of FL and would travel to Tampa, but have two daughters with birthdays this weekend, so that's not happening.

Thanks. Didn't realize it was nationally televised. I will be ok then. I'll be able to watch it on Fox. Just won't be able to see Rays or Marlins games on Ballys.
Best homegrown pitcher they've had since the Wheeler, Harvey, deGrom, and Syndergaard group.
Harvey only really had 2 1/2 good seasons. But they were exceptional. I would be thrilled if he could reach that level. I would be extremely disappointed if we only got 2 1/2 good years from him.
I do think Scott's combination of strikeout ability with his control is an exceptionally rare trait at this age.
Shit. Thank goodness for Garrett's emergence.
He’s been horrendous. Era is currently 15.88. 13 walks over 5.2 innings
Seems like he's been getting worse.

But he's only giving up 1 run.. per inning!
think it was jonah tong.
Thanks for the link, E......that was a good podcast. The Jeremy Hefner part starts around 15 minutes in, and well worth a listen. The Analytics Dept has really put in the work behind the scenes, especially the pitching side.
Follow-up question -- Who is in charge of Hiter's development these days ?

They don't have a clear "head of hitting department" type. Andy Green is the "boss" overall of player development and so far the returns aren't very good on the hitters side.
A Canadian who went to Georgia Premier Academy when the Mets drafted him in the seventh round in 2022, Tong had a difficult adjustment to pro ball. Between the Rookie-level Florida Complex League and Low-A St. Lucie last year, Tong had a 6.00 ERA and had more walks (22) than innings (21). It’s been a totally different story this year in the 20-year-old Tong’s return to Low-A, where he has yet to allow an earned run in 12.2 innings and owns a sparkling 27-5 K-BB mark.
The reduction in walks is a welcome sign, but even better is that he’s doing it with an uptick in stuff. Tong last year would sit in the low 90s and touch 93 mph, but this year he’s pitching at 91-94 mph and has touched 97. It’s a fastball that averages 20 inches of induced vertical break from his high arm slot and gets a lot of swing-and-miss when he elevates. Tong throws a big-breaking overhand curveball with good depth and a mid-80s slider and a mid-80s changeup that’s behind his breaking stuff. There’s some effort to the operation and a chance he ends up in the bullpen, but Tong has made himself into a much more intriguing sleeper compared to what he showed a year ago.

Appreciate it! I figured it was hyperbole but still exciting to have some pitching prospects again.
Later he said they are still “discussing” going with a 6 man so I guess nothing set
Still need a roster move to put Scott on the 40 man. I’d DFA Fujinami at this point. No one will claim him, and who cares at this point if they do.
I think they didn’t need room on the 40 man because they traded Zach Short to the Sox a few days ago.
