That's clearly been a huge part of the long subpar roster.
There seems to me to be a focus on using late round picks to find guys who can contribute on specials. I'd like to see some more flyers on guys who are more boom/bust to occasionally hit on a boom some year.
I get why they do it, but none of these guys ever seem to become anything outside of a nice special teamer for a few seasons.
It's the mid-round and low-round picks that this regime has done well with. They need their higher picks to do more.
It was Gettleman who tended to draft more special teams players. If you look at the 2022, 2023, and 2024 drafts, not only are they drafting players who have a shot to start, they have in fact started or are pressing for starting positions.
The Brightwell's of the world were Gettleman. The McFaddens are Schoen.

i think you are all right. they have hit for a good average, but not enough homers.
through 3 drafts they haven't yet cut any of their draft picks, and basically led league in rookie snaps played, but they also haven't yet drafted a pro bowler.
of top tier talent especially when you are drafting high for so many years. This is why I am not against taking Nabers. I know we need a legit QB but if it wasn't there then don't force it. We had Dex and Thomas, both of whom were Gettleman picks. Schoen's top guys are Thibs and Burns. We need more. Neal is such a huge player that we need to get right. Banks could be one. I liked what I saw last year. Okereke is a really good player too but none of these guys are on Dex or Thomas' level. Some may get ther as it is still early but we just need better top tier talent.
Like I said after watching another video of him, he has excellent vision and reactions. Something else I didn't notice is how good he is at "getting skinny" as he goes through holes.
I'm praying for our O-line that they pull their collective heads out of their "you-know-what's". We can have a track team for WRs and Tom Brady at QB, if they can't pass pro and open holes, the results will be what they have been for a decade - sad.
maybe im crazy but dont see his athletic testing in the video
i think he has potential, but he kind of reminds me of the ty montgomery when he shifted from Wr to Rb. He has some unique skills breaking tackles with ball in his hands and likely has good hands compared to other RBs.
on their best plays they can look like Deebo but probably better as a change of pace/special teamer.
athletically i dont see the same obvious explosion as jahmyr gibbs or james cook, but that is how he tested so it's not impossible they get lucky.
We won't know if he can play at the NFL level until he gets carries
Right, but Okereke and Burns were not his draft picks. That is a different skill (using draft capital to swap for other roster’s talent), but it is not the same as a hit on unproven talent.

i just finished an article basically detailing all of it (at some point was going to post it here for discussion).
