Every time Dave Gettleman speaks I’m floored he conned two teams into naming him their GM.
Because EA banged the table for him, DG told Mara Eli still could play after watching a Giants Eagles game-something John no doubt wanted to hear-& there we go.
They let this guy flail incompetently for four years, and then let him “retire” instead of being fired and gave him a nice little ceremony.
Can’t imagine why the Giants have been a trainwreck.
Reese, GM of two Lombardi title winners, gets fired mid season. Gettleman gets to ‘retire’ and have his family parade around the field before season finale.
Mr. Gettleman, who proclaimed that he was going to come in and kick butt. Who insisted that Barkley was touched by the hand of God and feel full bloom in love with Jones.

but you guys forget he presided over a lot of really good years as a top level decision maker from 98'-2012. I also believe Andrew Thomas and Dexter are potential HOF players. Joe Schoen is yet to do anything that impresses me.
But it’s dumb content I and other people consume for like 2 days a year and forget about. It’s junk food. Taking it serious in any capacity, like Gettleman is here, is stupid.

At no point with Gettleman at the helm did the Giants sport a winning record. At the time of his firing — sorry, we mean “retirement” — he had compiled an overall record of 19–46 (.292).

There is no rule saying that NFL teams have to be competently run. There is also no penalty for them being incompetently run.
