Division Rival Players you Admired and Wished were Giants...

DefenseWins : 6/28/2024 5:05 pm
Despite having division rivals, you sometimes have to just admire some of the players who line up against us. At times, I wished some of them were Giants.

I have a short list here. Let me know what your list would look like.

Roger Staubach
Tony Dorsett
Randy White
Jason Whitten
Reggie White
Harold Carmichael
Dan Dierdorf
Darryl Green
Art Monk
John Riggins

about any particular division rivals. I must have, but I don’t remember.

Of course, I was jealous of the entire Dallas organization in the 70s when the Giants were straight up incompetent and Dallas was a perennial contender.

There were guys on the Jets “Sack Exchange” defense who would have looked great in Giants blue, and some guys from the Montana-Lott 49ers. No Washington or Philly players come to mind.

If I had to pick just two

it would be Tony Dorset and Roger Staubach. So many others. Reggie White would have looked spectacular lining up alongside LT.

defensive player I've ever seen other than Lawrence Taylor was Reggie White.
I'll list three that I've met . . .
3000_MilesToMeadowlands : 6/29/2024 8:36 am : link
Dan Dierdorf - very approachable nice guy, was sitting next to him at an airport gate waiting to board a flight. He started the conversation . . .

Roy Green - great guy and his 1984 season is one of the best ever

Bill Bates - hated him growing up in the 80's because he was a hard hitter and playmaker, then I met him at Dallas' training camp in 1989 . . . nicest guy in the world, actually felt bad that I had a low opinion of him

Marion Barber
Brian Westbrook

(them as players not as people )
I was watching a YouTube video of Larry Allen the other day
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 6/30/2024 8:27 pm : link
It was a compilation of mainly his ex-teammates talking about him in awe. So many stories. Was quickly able to find it below…

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ELrNHfbNkp4

Again, I really enjoyed the whole video. He was clearly on a different level as an athlete. But one story that stood out was his bench press challenge story vs. Isaac Sopoaga (330 lb NT beast from Samao). Story starts at about 5:30 in and it’s from Adam Snyder (325 lb 10 year vet OL).

Long story short. Isa’ako aka Isaac finished with 65 reps of 225. Larry Allen finished with 70+ and could’ve went for more.

Just a scary man.

Reggie White

Reggie White would/could have been the #1 choice for the this OP.

But the Jason's are very nice gets indeed.

Larry Allen was the best OL I’ve ever seen
Greg from LI : 7/1/2024 7:04 am : link
So he would be top of the list, with Reggie White right behind.
