There’s a new article in the Athletic which has a current GM predict the top ten. The GM ultimately picked Ekwonu at 5, but said that it would be a toss up between Ekwonu/Penning and stated that Penning does not get past 6. I thought that was interesting
Yes, 7 for me. I'd consider taking him even if Okwonu goes at 5. Let Okwonu play LG and Penning RT.
That actually might make him fit on the team.
Reminds of when the Chiefs took Eric Fisher #1 overall and he was a kid from Central Michigan. It happens. Penning has had excellent grades from everywhere I've seen and I'm sure he's capable of taking over RT. Something most are unsure a guy like Cross can do.
16! so it wasn't like he has a bunch and was getting better at not getting penalties. That number is huge and he holds a lot.

Again, that would make him a good fit for the Giants.

An out of control player that never got any better at reducing his biggest issues? No it isn't.

I was being sarcastic, since the Giants seem to accrue a lot of penalties.

ahhh my bad... was wondering what that was flying right over my head.
Am I on Jeopardy...
Who are two reaches I hope the Giants don't make?
Give me Icky/Neal or bust in round 1 without a trade down. So many good RT, OG, and Centers in rounds two and three. Cross is a LT and Penning is a penalty machine drive killer.
They're both tackles, no? Which one plays guard?

Didn't Penning play a bit at guard. And it couldn't hurt to have a third tackle.
mmmmhmmm?
Athletic, strong, mean
Perfect for Giants. Time to get some mean ass kicking linemen.
2021 Stats: 1 sack, 11 pressures, 16 penalties. 99.9 PFF run-block grade.
Senior Bowl Roster Breakdown: Offensive Line - ( New Window )
I expect the OL to look something like this
Thomas - Lemieux - Linderbaum or FA - Draft Pick - Draft Pick (5 or 7)
Makes no sense to draft 2 OTs in the 1st to play one out of position. We have Thomas for 3 more years, there is no place for a 3rd OT unless you think they will be a better guard. Guards can be had later in the draft.
People tend to ignore his thoughts.
Probably at 7 too but who knows how things fall and what opportunities they may have to consider if any offer to move down a bit comes their way.
I don't think that's what I said. From accounts I have read Penning can play guard - well. So he starts at guard.
We also have a LT who is coming off his second ankle surgery. He's going to miss some time. When he's out, we don't miss a beat.
But if our scouting says he's not a good guard, then no, you don't do it. I'm just spit-balling. I'm not dying on this hill.
Increasingly, it looks like the Giants might draft two defenders at 5 and 7. I don't prefer it. The offense is a five alarm fire. I think both picks need to go to the offense. Especially since defense is increasingly marginalized in today's NFL. Offensive players are just more valuable in today's game.

Did you just advocate to use a top 10 pick on a back-up, reserve tackle?

It's so entertaining when a buffoon speaks for the entire crowd.

When did you start speaking for others?
You know that narrative of speaking out of your ass? Someone sure “produces” enough of it.

Plus the Giants lost some games this year because their defense couldn't make a stop before the opposing team was in range.

Wow .. you can find games where defense helped win. You must be a fucking scientist. Though that doesn't rebut my general assertion one bit. You call me out, come after me, and you are armed with that weak ass shit. I got it, you didn't ace math and science, you don't have to make a spectacle about it.
Producer is a must ignore. Though I know I’m preaching to the choir

Another forum vigilante who thinks he speaks for a whole community. I have bent over backwards to be polite and engaging with you and I get back pathetic bile.
You don’t draft a back up tackle with the seventh pick in the draft.

How about a starting guard.

Interesting… I saw TB defense dominate KC in the super bowl two years ago. I also saw Rams defense manhandle the bengals in the SB. And Cincy got to the SB with a great defensive effort in 3 games leading up to the Super Bowl. Also, I think SF was a win away with some dominating defensive play in the playoffs with a shit QB.

Actually I used the biggest games of the year to prove my point. You must not have watched them because you were too busy posting nonsense that no one cares about. Defenses are so marginalized that we are talking about 4-5 DEs, 2-3 corners, 2 ILB, and a safety as all potential top 10 picks. Haha.
You’re a laughing joke on this board. Deal with it. Tell us again about your thoughts on the Rudolph signing… you ran quickly after that “spectacle”.

You think 2 ILBs get drafted in the top 10?. 3 corners? Maybe by the end of the first round.
And I didn't run from anything. You just alerted me to it. BFD, i contradicted a comment I made a year ago, about a player we signed who was injured, who will be a trivia question in 5 years. That's what makes you happy? That's what kind od argument you make? Lame.
When more points are scored on a per game basis across the entire league, defense is devalued. It is a better use of high draft picks to invest high picks in offense, than defense. Google: is offense more valuable than defense in the NFL, for more data.
And defenses aren’t being marginalized whatsoever. You can say Google it 10 more times but it still makes you look foolish. Defense is more important now than ever and as by evidence of the biggest game of the year… defense still carries more weight.
Google it
When an offense is anemic, like ours, and when an offense goes three and out all the time and doesn't score TDs, like ours, it doesn't matter what kind of defense we have. We might have a very good defense already, and we wouldn't know. Our guys are gassed and on the field too much and defending a short field.
We need to improve the offense first and foremost. That will be a huge benefit to the D.
