Feel like there is a thread on Giants helmet/jersey etc once every 8 weeks in the offseason so I apologize. I know that there was a discussion last month about the old GIANTS logo making a comeback, but it was just pure speculation.
I tend to think in general, simple is better. I am a sucker for the 80s GIANTS helmet logo, and watching the NY Rangers on the road (outside of how they play) i can't help but think their whites are the cleanest in sports. Giants should adopt something similar ...not red pants, but having white, with blue and red.. Conversely, add minor red into the home blue jersey. Basically a modern take on 80s/90s.
My main question (Might a question for that website Uni-Watch):
You rarely see teams with off color'd helmets and jerseys. Is there any background info to why the giants did that in the 80s? The helmet was always a slightly darker shade of blue on the helmet than the jersey. Helmet was a dark navy, jersey alittle lighter. I feel like in the 80s with the grainy footage it didn't look out of place....today with things shot in 8K i wonder how it would look. I could be wrong but leading up to 2000 I believe the jersey lightened up even more...could just be my memory.
Someone always posts a saquon edit everytime new uniforms discussion comes up. Think it looks sharp. I'll try to locate it, but it has the darker GIANTS helmet.

You might be right, I was probably overthinking. But in a way I kind of liked it...theres been modern renderings (social media jersey edits) of it and I like it.

In any case the old NY logo evokes the good history of the team, and the "Giants" logo can bring up some bad memories, but I don't really care either way.
